PacificationA social Program started in Rio De Janiero. First Implemented in 2008 In order to clean up Rios Favelas. Which have a long history of poverty and violence. Previously they were run by gangs and armed drug traffickers.

BOPE ,Rios elite police force strategically drives out the traffickers with heavy weaponry.Traffickers replaced with a permanent police force that helps with protection and social services.Crime drops dramatically and property values increaseMany Brazilians see Pacification as the end of a drug based society and a beginning for new opportunities /economies in the favelas.
