They assist people in managing their daily lives, coping with issues, navigating relationships, and solving personal and family. Social workers make important contributions to society by working to improve the lives of individuals, families and groups. Social workers are employed in a variety of settings, including mental health clinics, schools, child welfare and human service agencies, hospitals, and private practices. They generally work full time and may need to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

To become a social worker you must have a four year degree. Many of the jobs available to social workers require a Masters degree. Once you have earned your MSW, you are required to become licensed by the State of Michigan. Applicants for a full MSW license must have a Master’s degree in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and 2 or more years (4,000 hours) of post-degree social work experience under the supervision of a licensed MSW .
