LuccaLucca is an ancient city in Tuscany founded by the Etruscans. Important in Roman times, and today the Roman street plan is preserved. Piazza San Michele occupies the site of the Roman Forum, and traces of the Roman Ampitheatre can be found in Piazza Anfiteatro.

The city is surrounded by a complete set of high walls topped by a tree lined road. Over 4km in circumference, this road serves as an urban park. There are six gates into the city, and most areas are car free. This is appropriate as many of the streets are narrow and medieval. Lucca is flat and visitors can enjoy the city by walking and cycling.

Today Lucca is famous as the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini and celebrates his music. His home is now a museum. Lucca is also famous for the quality of its food, wine and olive oil. Exploring the streets of Lucca is discovering over two thousand years of history. Unlike other Italian cities it is not overwhelmed by tourists, and it is possible to enjoy its unique atmosphere as you wander its alleys and byeways.

SicilyThe great earthquake of 1693 destroyed nearly all of the towns in South East Sicily. They were rebuilt by the Spanish in a beautiful Sicilian Baroque style. These towns have been extensively used as locations for the hugely successful TV series featuring the fictional detective ‘Montalbano’.

This tour is based in the beautiful hilltop town of Ragusa Ibla, and visits various locations featured in the TV series, but the tour offers much more than that; this region is also famous for its food and wines. Ragusa Ibla is only a small town but it has 2 Michelin starred restaurants, Modica is famous for its chocolate, reputedly made to original Aztec recipies. Noto is famed for the quality of its ice cream and Cannoli. In Siracusa it is possible to follow in the footsteps of Archimedes and the ancient Greeks.

There is a central shopping street which is largely pedestrianised with many pretty cafes and restaurants in hidden away courtyards. Before it was a holiday resort, Caorle was a fishing port and Porto Peschereccio is today still lined with working sea going fishing boats.

Francavilla di SiciliaSituated between the sea and the northern slopes of Mount Etna, nine miles from Taormina, Francavilla di Sicilia is an excellent atmospheric location from which to set out and explore this interesting Baroque region.

Francavilla is found in the valley of the river Alcantara, with its famous Alcantara Gorge, and is surrounded by stunning scenery of the Sicilian countryside.

The town’s history dates all the way back to the 5th Century BC, and excavations have revealed ancient Greek settlements. The artifacts that have been recovered from these settlements can now be found in the local museum

Alterations by you If, after our confirmation invoice has been issued, you wish tochange your travel arrangements in any way, for example your chosen departuredate or accommodation, we will do our utmost to make these changes, but this maynot always be possible. In order for a change to go ahead you will be asked to coverany costs we incur in making this alteration. Name change cannot be made underany circumstances, and this would be classed as a cancellation and the appropriatecancellation fee will apply.5. Cancellation by you You or any member of your party may cancel their holiday atany time. Written notification from the person who made the booking must be doneas soon as possible. However, we will NOT cancel your holiday lessthan 6 weeks prior to your departure date, except for reasons of ” Force Majeure “,orfailure by you to pay the final balance. If it is necessary to cancel your holiday( unlessfor reasons of Force Majeure) we will pay to you compensation as set out in clause 4of these conditions.7. Flight Delays In the event of a delay to your flight, ITC DO NOT provide refreshments – meals or accommodation, however in certain circumstances the airline may provide assistance. ITC representative will approach the airline to request that appropriate standards of welfare and information are provided. Under EU law you have some rights in some circumstances to compensation from the airline in cases of denied boarding, cancellation or delays to flights. Full details of these rights should be available at the airport, and will also be available from the airlines. However, reimbursement in such cases will NOT entitle you to a REFUND of your holiday from ITC.8. Abandonment of your holiday If you choose to abandon the arrangements madeby us on your behalf, and instead, make your own arrangements, ITC accepts no liability and no refunds will be made for the services that you choose not to take. Abandonment of your holiday may also be deemed to have taken place if you miss any transportation through no fault of ITC. You will have to pay for any costs incurred, for example travel tickets, hotel accommodation, meals or public transport fares.9. Our Pricing All prices in our brochure are per person in £ Sterling. The price of yourholiday was calculated using the exchange rate of £1 = 1.10 Euros IN SEPTEMBER 2017. Once you have booked your holiday we reserve the right to surchargefor cost increases due to surcharge by the airlines, (including the cost of fuel, taxesor fees chargeable for services such as landing, embarkation or disembarkationfees at airports), and fluctuation in exchange rates against the EURO. There will beno charge within 30 days prior to your departure. We will absorb such increases upto 2% of your basic holiday costs. Between 2% and 12% the client will be invoicedfor the surcharge amount. If the surcharge is greater than 12% of your holiday priceper person, you have the option of changing to another holiday that we offer, or youhave the right to cancel (within 14 days of receiving surcharge notification), in whichcase we will refund in FULL all monies paid to us.10. Passports and Insurance It is your responsibility to ensure that you have a validpassport. ITC accept no responsibility for your failure to comply with passport regulations. We are especially concerned that all of our clients are adequately insured (e.g. in case of illness or cancellation/curtailment) and suggest that you arrange insurance from the day you book. ITC will NOT accept bookings unless you are covered by a Travel Insurance. It’s your responsibility to ensure that ITC has been given details of your travel insurance before the departure date of the holiday.11.Flight seats We cannot guarantee you will be seated together, some airlines offera “Sitting together“ facility for an additional fee.12.Single rooms Despite the supplement payable for SINGLE accommodation; itshould be noted that the standard and location of some rooms, are sometimes inferior to other rooms and may NOT have all the amenities of other rooms. Regrettably ITC has no control over the hotel charges for SINGLE rooms.13. Opera Tickets The tickets are booked in advance through our Italian agent. Theprice charged is not necessarily as the price shown on the ticket due to agent handling & booking fees. We reserve the right to alter the price shown in the literature to compensate for fluctuations in the exchange rate against the EURO. The final price will be shown on the invoice. Should you decide to cancel the opera ticket because of the price increase you will be still required to pay the full amount and the deposit will NOT be refundable. 14. Air conditioning & Heating The period in the season and times of the day, when these operate are at the discretion of the hotel management. 15. Complaints Any complaints regarding your holiday, should be reported to your resort representative immediately, who will endeavour to put things right. it is therefore your obligation to inform us of any problem during your holiday. If you fail to notify ITC representative we will have been deprived of the opportunity to investigate and rectify your complaint whilst you were in resort, and this may affect your rights under this contract. If your complaint is still not resolved locally, written notification should be made to ITC within 28 days of your return holiday date. We promise to deal with any complaints fairly and promptly within the terms of these conditions.16. Our Liability to you We accept legal liability we may be under as a result of anymisrepresentation or failure to exercise reasonable care on our part or of our employees. We make every effort to ensure that the suppliers of services which form part of your holiday, except for air & sea carriers and coach transport are efficient and reputable although we do not have any direct control over the suppliers of those services or their employees. We accept responsibility for the acts and or omissions of ourselves or of our employees. Additionally, we further accept limited responsibilityin respect of some but not ALL of the acts and / or omissions of our agents, except for air & sea carriers, and coach transport particularly where such acts or omissions render services provided under this contract by us either deficient or not of a reasonable standard, save that we will not be responsible, nor accept liability in respect of death, bodily injury or illness caused to either the signatory of this contract or any other person named on the booking form, save where such death, bodily injury or illness is proven to be caused by a negligent act or omission of our employees, whilst acting within the scope of, or in the course of their employment. The foregoing provisions in this clause do not apply to any air and sea carriers or coach transport supplying services to us and forming any domestic, internal or international carriage of whatsoever kind.17. Your Contract The law governing the contract between us is the law of England and the contract is deemed to have been made at our office in Middlesbrough – Cleveland – UK.
