    Dear Students:

    This week is Classroom Without Walls! Enjoy the time to step out of your comfort zone and learn from the new experi-ences.

    The annual ISM Aquathon is this Saturday, February 25. See the bulletin for details if you have not already registered.

    PowerSchool will be updated this Friday, February 24. Be sure to check your grades and discuss your progress with teachers if you have concerns.

    Looking aheadMiddle School course registration for school year 2012-2013 will take place the week of March 5. One necourse offering, Dance Revolution, is being made available to Grades 7 and 8. Dance Revolution offers you the chance explore your movement potential and develop spatial awareness. Throughout the semester, different dance forms, such modern, jazz and hip hop,and the foundations of choreography will be explored. Above all, this course is designed to giv

    you the confidence to move forward into ISMs already thriving Dance program at HS level and to inspire you to experment with different avenues of movement expression. For this reason, the course is suitable for both experienced and beginner dancers. As part of this program, you are also afforded the opportunity to share, celebrate and showcase your taent through participation in school activities and dance recitals.

    SUMMER LANGUAGE STUDY

    The International School Manila Modern Language Department is pleased to announce its 2012 Summer La

    guage Study / Home-stay / Travel Program to Spain. This program is for students 14 years of age or older of June 1st. It aims to develop students language proficiency and to broaden their cultural knowledge. Tprogram is being offered in cooperation with Tandem (http://www.escuela-montalban.com/index.php). W

    with spend three weeks at the Granada campus and one week at the Madrid campus. Students will continue learning anmore importantly practicing Spanish through total immersion in classes and during the home-stay. The Tandem school finfamilies for students to stay with, assists in locating appropriate local resources for the groups activities, plans outingmaintains a list of local medical and emergency resources, and helps with the orientation for group leaders.

    Students will receive Spanish classes each morning that include language and culture subjects and prepare students fcultural visits. The cultural program will take place in the afternoons/evenings and will be made up of various superviseactivities that take advantage of the unique environment while taking into account the individual interests of the studentCultural activities include things such as preparing paella, guided tours of historical buildings, towns and museums, watcing flamenco dancing, visiting hot water springs, beach trips, horseback riding, etc.

    The dates of this trip will be approximately June 2nd 30th, 2012. If you are interested, please contact Jennifer Diaz([email protected]) to receive more information. Students and parents interested in this trip to Spain should plan to at-tend an informational meeting at 5:30 on Wednesday, February 29th.

    FROM THE ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES OFFICECongratulations to the MS boys B gr.5/6 tennis team who last

    Saturday won the ISTA League final at CSA. Our younger team

    defeated the ISM gr.7/8 team in an epic 4 hour battle to win this

    years MS Tennis championship. The result was tied at 2-2 after

    the 3 singles matches and the 1st doubles and in the final doubles

    match the game was tied at 7-7 and then went to a 10-8 tie

    breaker before the gr.5/6 pair of Stanley and Takuma won the

    match. Congratulations to players from both teams who played

    last Saturday.

    MS Team A Tennis Runners-up ( Liyang, Eric, Deyan, Jack/John,

    Tom/Alex)

    Congratulations also to the MS Boys Gold Basketball team who

    narrowly lost in the final of the local league tournament on Satur-

    day, February 4th. The boys played great all season and unfortu-

    nately lost the final by 2pts which was played at CSA. Well doneto all players and coaches (Sturgeon/St. Laurent)

    3rd Season: This week was the start of 3rd season practices

    for (Track and Field, Badminton, Softball for MS and HS students

    and Mixed Touch for MS students only) Practice schedules are

    now posted to the blog and are on school notice boards.
