Dear Parents,

GRADE TWO LEARNING FACILITY

Finally, we’re in! I know the students and the staff are delighted with their brand new learning space;

parent feedback has also been positive in relation to the setting and appealing rooms conducive to

learning. We intend to place some ornamental pears and carpets roses alongside the embankment to

complement the garden around the BER building. I love taking visitors into the rooms as the teachers

have already enhanced the space with their students work, as well, the students are always engaged and

responsive to the lessons being presented.

NAPLAN The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)

Congratulations to our students in grades 3 and 5 for performing at their best

throughout the NAPLAN testing period. I know all the teachers and educational

support staff have been impressed with their students’ commitment to the tests; I was

impressed with how many of the grade three students exhibited excitement about

sitting for the tests. Well done!

EXCITING PROGRAM AT HEPS

students. Students can bring iPads commencing term three to use as a supportive tool for

learning. This should enhance our students’ learning and engagement, better prepare them

for secondary education and support them to become proficient in the technological and digital world in

which they will live as adults.

EASTLAND ART DISPLAY t Week HEPS will celebrate Education Week at Eastland Nex

Shopping Centre by participating in the Art display along with many other local schools. A highlight of the display will be the grade 3 and 4 Viking Longships along with many wonderful 2D works. We hope you can come along to see the display from Monday 19th May until Sunday 25th May. Keep creating Mrs. M.

Cross Country Update Cross Country is fast approaching (May 19th), all classes have been

training hard over the past few weeks and are familiar with the track at

HE Parker.

As with all excursions, students will be well supervised on the day

both before, during and after their race. Students will walk to the track

with classroom teachers where there will be additional adults supervising the road crossings and train

line. Prior to running, students will assemble on the first set of netball courts at HE Parker and will be

supervised, they will then be ushered toward the starting line when it is their turn to run. Throughout the

course there will be adults situated approximately every 50m and two First Aid locations. Upon

completing the course students will be directed toward the second set of netball courts where they will be

supervised by HEPS staff and volunteers.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Kate or Michael.

Thank you.

Kate Ruck and Michael Hodgson
