An Issue from the Theology of History Pious and GodlessGovernment
Summary
Historical issues considered in the present work are elucidatedfrom theological point of view and the raised problem itself presents tobe investigation subject of theological history; in particular, historicalfunction of State's main element, i.e. government, to the society isassessed herein. The present survey describes two types of government:pious and godless, separate type of universal and classic governments:first - being Byzantium and the second one – Russian Imperial model.
The scientific work shows that both type governments were intouch with Christianity, its Church and religion in general, but at thesame time possessed radically different approach and acting

methodology. Pious government being respectful towards religion was abase of justice for the society; but apostatic form of ruling wasacceptable for godless government, which did not recognizedChristianity; the latter is the most negative form of secular policyserving for anti-Christian politics of the government.
Based on Holy Writ and scriptures of Saint Fathers the workdescribes attitude of the State and government towards religion and itscults, what was revealed in spiritual life and mood of the society.Attitude of the society towards both types of government is alsoanalyzed in the work.
