My dear citizens;
İZAYDAŞ, one of the leading companies in Turkey in terms of waste disposal and recycling, left another efficient year behind. This report is a summary of not only the work breakdown of a year but also the labor, great effort and devoted work, in other words, a success story which would not be described in these lines.
We have already memorized but we are not able to desist from saying these words with pride every year. İZAYDAŞ, the leading company in the waste and recycling area in the country, duly fulfills a very important public duty with its expertise in the economy of the country and waste assessment as well as its service to our city.
In light of this activity report, it is also demonstrated how great distance the company has covered thanks to the new technologies followed.
İZAYDAŞ, which is currently experiencing the most productive period since its foundation, has responsibilities to entire Turkey, in particular to Kocaeli.
By controlling hundreds of thousands of tons of hazardous waste, we have been making great contributions to the environment for many years with İZAYDAŞ preventing the contamination of these harmful substances to our country, in particular to our Kocaeli. It is because the environment is of crucial importance to us. It is not just that... We generate hundreds of millions of kWh electric energy from the wastes we disposed of, and we provide a great added value to the national economy.
Apart from all these, we have been achieving great success in the storage of domestic wastes. In addition, we have to mention the important achievements of our İZAYDAŞ regarding the collection and disposal of medical wastes as well as the disposal of hulk wastes... We have taken an important step in the control of marine pollution with sea surface cleaning boats, patrol boats and marine control aircraft for the cleaning of our Bay.
My dear citizens,
While we close the year with great efforts and say greetings to 2019 with the same dynamism, I would like to thank all of our employees from the lowest staff to our General Manager in İZAYDAŞ, who have carried out all these successful works. In terms of success, it should be stated that everyone has a finger in the pie.
We believe that İZAYDAŞ, which has become a pioneering and model facility in Turkey thanks to our investments, will make an indelible impression in 2019 once more.

Hello,
We, İZAYDAŞ, the leading company in the waste management in Turkey, have left behind a challenging year that we have fulfilled our objectives. We have to be more prudent in 2019. As we have always said, we will continue our inevitable investments with “plausible optimism”.
When we examine 2018, the highest level of attention towards environmental and waste problems increased our hopes for the future. Completion and publication of the amendments of the Environmental Law was an important step. “Zero Waste”, one of the most popular topics of this year, has raised a significant awareness in the society. Thanks to this awareness, our commitment to environmental values will increase and we will obtain economic profits. In the light of these developments, we believe and hope that 2019 will be a golden year for our industry.
43.000 tons of waste arriving at our waste incineration facility in 2018 has been disposed through a record in incineration at the level of annual incineration capacity of our facility. The electrical energy we thus generated was 17 million kWh, 5 million kWh of which was sold to the national grid.
A total of 50 million kWh electrical energy was generated at LFG facilities which are installed at the regular domestic waste Landfill sites. With the generation of 9 million kWh of electrical energy at hydroelectric power plant project and a total of 76 million kWh of electrical energy at our biogas facility and a wind turbine in one year, İZAYDAŞ has generated domestic electricity to address the needs of a city with a population of 100,000.
We supplied waste discharge services to 3.500 companies, and waste collection services to approximately 3.000 vessels entering the Bay of Izmit. In the framework of the principle of transparent management of our company, we have hosted approximately 5,000 people and explained our activities to them. We have completed 4.265 analyses at our İZAYDAŞ Laboratory and we have completed 60 tenders.
We have taken an important step in the fight against marine pollution. Marine pollution has been brought under control with sea surface cleaning boats, patrol boats and marine control aircraft. On the other hand, we have become ready to provide services such as marine pollution control, construction control, water basin control and forest fires control to other organizations through our marine control aircraft. We are planning to provide the necessary conditions and provide this service to the entire Sea of Marmara.
I hope the new year of 2019 brings our country positive developments along with an environment of trust and peace by ceasing violence and unrest in the surrounding geography, and in this way, offering us a glimmer of hope for establishing world peace.
We will continue to serve to our country and to our city with a continued sincerity, belief and ambition, with the leadership of Ibrahim KARAOSMANOĞLU, the Mayor of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of İZAYDAŞ, and with the support of our management and our colleagues.

INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION AND TRACKING ACTIVITIES
Integrated Management System Documentation and Tracking Activities
İZAYDAŞ Integrated Management System, which has been implemented since 2006 and certified in 2015 lastly, has been updated according to the 2015 version of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. The ISO 27001 Information Security Management System was certified in 2018 and the number of management system standard of İZAYDAŞ, which has been implemented and certified, has become eight. 1278 documents in total are kept up-to-date in the QDMS Program and access is provided to the relevant authorities within the scopes of ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, ISO 10002 Customer Complaints Management System, ISO 50001 Energy Management System, ISO 17025 Laboratory Quality Management System, ISO 17043 Laboratory Qualification Tests Management System implemented with the aim of institutionalization and continuous improvement by adopting world-class management models.
Management Systems Certification and Surveillance Audit
The ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards in İZAYDAŞ Integrated Management System, which was certified and implemented in 2006, were transited to the 2015 version. ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001: 2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management System standards were re-certified in accordance with the audit conducted by the certification agency KALİTEST.
The ISO 10002 Customer Complaint Management System Surveillance Audit, which was first implemented and documented in 2012, was conducted by the certification agency KALİTEST on January 05, 2018. No major or minor non-compliance was identified during the audit, and the documents were updated accordingly.
Customer (Second Party) Audits
The services provided by İZAYDAŞ have been audited for quality, environment and OHS by our two customers within the scope of supplier audits. The management systems documentation, field applications and legal obligations were reviewed during the audits. No major nonconformity has been identified in these audits, which our customers and İZAYDAŞ consider important in terms of continuity of service purchasing.

Internal Audits
Necessary planning was performed in the scope of Integrated Management Systems Standard (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 10002:2004, ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007) and PR-03 Internal Auditing Procedure, and three internal audits were performed, including two audits of Integrated Management System in June 2018 and December 2018, and one audit of Customer Complaint Management System in December 2017. Corrective Preventive Actions were taken for non-compliances identified by the auditing teams in the system and application, and improvement actions were planned for this purpose and monitored in the QDMS software.

Supplier Audit
Our supplier PNÖSAN Pnömatik-Hidrolik Buhar Teknik Malz. San ve Tic. Ltd. Şti. was audited on September 20, 2018 within the scope of Quality, Environment and OHS Management.

Monitoring of Employee and Customer Notifications
In 2018, 36 notifications of Suggestion/Request/Complaint and Near-Risk were received from the employees and monitored on the QDMS Program. The notifications related to OHS were discussed on the OHS Board, and necessary actions were planned and implemented.
17 notifications of suggestions, requests and complaints from our customers and immediate environment were recorded and evaluated in 2018. Since 6 notifications involved complaints about services offered by customers, these were managed under the ISO 10002 Customer Complaint Management System and closed after necessary improvements were made with the customer-oriented management approach.
Management Review Meeting –Unit Activities Assessment Meeting
Within the scope of the Integrated Management System, an Integrated Management Systems Management Review (MRM) Meeting was held on March 30, 2018 in order to ensure continuous improvement in the systems we are implementing and to monitor the system performance as required by the Management Review Procedure defined in our relevant standards and system.
In the agenda, evaluations of the policies, targets and realization status, performance indicators, CAPAs, customer notifications, previous MRM resolutions, realized activities, the requirement for resources, training and areas for improvement were performed, and resolutions were made to ensure continuity and improvement of the system.
Unit Activity Assessment Meeting (UAAM) where activities of 2017 were evaluated, was held on February 13-14, 2018 and Unit Activity Assessment Meeting where first six months activities of 2018 were evaluated was held on July 24-25-26, 2018.

Training
The training was provided to İZAYDAŞ managers about the amendments of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, ISO 14001:2015 standards and Integrated Management System on 10.08.2018.
The Strategic Planning General Information Training was provided to the project team and İZAYDAŞ management within the scope of 2019-2023 İZAYDAŞ Strategic Planning.

Customer Satisfaction Survey
Customer satisfaction survey for provided services was carried out by a applying questionnaire to customers through external service purchase. The result of the research was shared with all the managers at the meeting held in General Management Meeting Hall on 05.03.2018 with the presentation of service provider institution. Measured customer satisfaction: 94.5% Actions related to areas that need improvement according to the research result are planned and followed.
Updating Process Maps and Monitoring Process Performances
In the operational process maps defined in the Ensemble Program and in the process performance indicators related to these processes, necessary revisions were made for the changes in applications with the related process owners.
İZAYDAŞ 2019-2023 Strategic Planning
İZAYDAS 2019-2023 Strategic Planning was initiated and information training, status quo and SWOT analysis were carried out within this scope. The planning is carried out within the scope of the plan.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT UNIT COMPETENCE CERTIFICATE
Environmental Permits and Licenses
Within the framework of the Environmental Permit and License Regulation, works are carried out with the Environmental Permit and License Certificate approved by the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning, Directorate General of Environmental Impact Assessment, Permit and Inspection and valid between 29.12.2017 and 24.08.2022. Environmental Permit and License Certificate is related to and covers all activities for Air Emissions, Waste

Incineration and Collective Incineration and Regular Landfill - Class 1 (Hazardous Waste), Regular Landfill-Class 2 (Municipality Wastes and Non-Hazardous Waste), Interim Waste Landfill and Biomethanization activities.
Waste Oil Declaration
Waste Oil Declaration Form, which must be notified to Ministry of Environment and Urbanization by the end of February every year in accordance with Waste Oil Control Regulations, was sent to Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization on 16.02.2018.
Waste Declaration System
Waste declarations for the previous year, which should be submitted by the end of March every year according to Waste Management Regulations, were submitted. The waste declaration of İzmit (Solaklar) Facility was entered in the web-based system of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
Validity of Registry Certificate
The registry certificate must be renewed every two years as of the date of issuance of the Industrial Registry Certificate as per the Industrial Registry Law No. 6948. The renewal procedure in 2018 was performed on 06.07.2018 within the scope of this obligation.
Industrial Registry Certificate and Statement of Registration –SANSİC (B)
The “Annual Operation Chart” which should be prepared within four months from the beginning of each calendar year, to include the activities of the previous year under the Industrial Registration Law no. 6948 should be completed in the electronic media after registration on the website at www.sanayi.gov.tr. The data of the Izmit Facility and Yuvacık Branch Office for the period of 2017 were filled in online and sent to the Provincial Directorate of Science and Technology on 17.04.2018 within the scope of this legal obligation.

Activities Related to Collection of Packaging Waste at the Source
In the scope of the Directive on Controlling Packaging Waste, activities were continued to collect packaging waste of the facility separately in collection containers indoors and outdoors. The collected packaging waste was given to Özkartallar İnşaat ve San. ve Tic. Ltd. Şti. a company with the License of Collection and Separation of Packaging Waste which has a contract with the Izmit Municipality. The amounts of packaging waste that has been sent for recycling are given in the table below.

Environmental Risk Assessment
Environmental risk assessments of unit activities were reviewed and updated together with unit managers and IMS in accordance with the Environmental Risk Assessment Instruction and Environmental Risk Analysis Update Plan 2018.
After the transition to ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System version, the Environmental Risk Assessment Instruction was revised and the process based risk assessment was initiated on 14.11.2018 in accordance with the necessity of process-based risks.
Furthermore, site audits were performed every month in the facility with OHS, IMS and relevant site supervisors in the scope of the site, order and cleaning tour and actions were initiated for required improvements.
Certificate for Collection and Separation of Non-Hazardous Waste
In accordance with the Communiqué on the Certificate for Collection and Separation of Non-Hazardous Waste, on-site inspection was carried out by the authorities of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Directorate General of EIA Permit and Inspection, Department of Environmental Competence Services and Kocaeli Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization in accordance with Article 10 of the related communiqué on 22.10.2018 in order to prepare necessary reports in the areas where soil pollution occurs and to carry out cleaning

and improvement activities. As a result of the inspection, it was decided that the qualification requirements and the obligations were fulfilled in accordance with the related communiqué.
Certificate of Environmental Impact Assessment
Kocaeli Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization carried out an on-site inspection visit to the physical conditions to be provided on the site on 23.03.2018 for Recovery of Hazardous Waste and Tank Cleaning Pre-treatment Facility. The Provincial Directorate provided a Letter of Conformity for the site complying with the requirements on 26.03.2018.
Licensing activities for the facility will be initiated under the Directive on Environmental Permit and Licensing.
Environmental Management Unit Qualification Certificate
The Environmental Management Unit Qualification Certificate, which we obtained as per the Regulation on Environmental Officer, Environmental Management Unit and Environmental Consultancy Companies, will expire on 09.01.2019. Because of the fact that the renewal application should be made one month before at least as per the regulation, the application was made and a new certificate was obtained on 27.12.2018.
Kocaeli University - Industrial Training Cooperation
In the scope of the Protocol on Industry-University Training Cooperation which was signed on 07.07.2007, training was given on “Waste Management I and II and Collection and Transportation of Waste” during the Fall and Summer Semesters of 2017-2018 Academic Year in the Environmental Cleaning and Supervision Program at Kocaeli University, Hereke Ömer İsmet Uzunyol Vocational School, Department of Environmental Cleaning Services.
Management Plans
A Management Plan on Waste Incineration and Collective Incineration activities, which is required to be submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization every year in the scope of the Permit and Licensing Conditions of the Environmental Permit and Licensing Certificate, was prepared and submitted on 04.08.2017, and the Management Plans for Class I and Class II Regular Landfill Sites were submitted on 03.11.2017 to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.

Customer Audits
Our facilities were visited by DOW TURKEY on 13.04.2018 and the conformity of quality, environmental and OHS management systems was audited. Environmental documents were submitted during the audits.
Supplier Audit
Within the scope of the supplier audits under the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, our supplier PNÖSAN Pnömatik - Hidrolik Buhar Teknik Malz. San ve Tic. Ltd. Şti. located in Tekirdağ - Çorlu was visited on 20.09.2018. Environmental activities, waste management application and conformity of the environmental legislation of the company were evaluated.
MERKİM Site Pre-Treatment of HCH and Contaminated Wastes with HCH
The project on HCH wastes staying in Merkim A.Ş. warehouses for many years has been initiated thanks to the contributions of the Global Environment Fund (GEF). This project covers the processes which need to be performed on the site before disposal of HCH wastes in stock. İZAYDAŞ participated in the tender launched by GEF and is awarded the work. In this framework, the measures taken during the works between 19.03.2018 and 12.04.2018 within the “Procurement of Services for Removal of the HCH and Contaminated Wastes from Merkim Warehousing Area by Applying Pre-Treatment ” in order to avoid environmental risks and to minimize the environmental risks of the works were carried out during the period of the work.
Technical Assistance Project for Capacity Increase on EUROPEAN Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (KSTK)
The Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (KSTK) is the international description of the inventory which was periodically reported and containing information on the release of pollutants arising from particular industrial facilities to the receiving environments such as air, water and soil and transfer within the scope of the treatment, processing, etc. In 2003, the European Union signed a The Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (KSTK) protocol.
İZAYDAŞ was selected as a pilot plant in the field of Waste and Wastewater Management and a protocol was signed with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization on 26.06.2018. Within the scope of the protocol, the European-Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (KSTK) Project Team visited the facility on 29.11.2018 and provided information about the project and the legislation and the application of the data entry system was introduced.

Environmental Accident Drill
During the year, unannounced environmental accident drills were carried out. The drill was completed successfully and an evaluation meeting was held after the drill to identify the actions to be taken.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Energy Management System Certification Audit
The conformity and continuity of the Energy Management System to ISO 50001 standard for 2018 were audited by certification institution KALITEST on 05.12.2017. No nonconformity was identified in terms of the system during the certification audit. As a result of the audit, documents indicating conformity of applicable Energy Management System to the relevant standard were updated and our certificate has been renewed until 02.12.2020.
Internal Audits
In the scope of ISO 50001 Standard and PR-03 Internal Auditing Procedure, Energy Management System internal audit was planned and the audits were performed on Wednesday, July 04, 2018 and November 15-16, 2018. Corrective Preventive Actions were taken for non-compliances identified by the auditing teams in the system and application, and improvement actions were planned for this purpose.
LABORATORY
IZAYDAŞ Laboratory, which was founded in 1996 and started its activities, continues its studies with a management understanding based on principles of independence, confidentiality, objectivity, honesty, reliability, respect to legal ethical values, ability to keep up with today’s changing conditions, by improving participation and contribution of all of our employees in the Quality Management System that was established as required by TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 standards. The quality of the service offered by İZAYDAŞ Laboratory is maintained by customer-oriented work, which transforms customer demands into satisfaction, in compliance with the conditions of the customers with a specific method. For this purpose, our policy is to get fast and reliable results.
İZAYDAŞ Laboratory, the establishment purpose of which is limited by analyses for companies, continues to work rigorously and carefully as a leader and a pioneer in many fields. It has maintained its ISO 17025 accreditation certificate, which was issued in 2011, with an expanded scope of service for four years and has successfully completed certificate renewal audit in 2015 and has been entitled to continue its activities until 2020.

By expanding the scope of accreditation certificate, which was issued in July 2014 with the purpose of organizing Proficiency Testing Programs within the scope of ISO 17043 Standard, it maintains its role as the first proficiency test provider laboratory in Turkey in terms of water, waste water and waste analyses. With the revision of the certificate in 2018, the company assures the sector to continue its activities until 2022.

Our analysis parameters within the scope of TURKAK Accreditation Certificate and Qualification Certificate are available on TÜRKAK website at www.turkak.org.tr, on the website of Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization at http://laboratuvar.cevre.gov.tr and on İZAYDAŞ website at www.izaydas.com.tr.
İZAYDAŞ Laboratory was audited by Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Directorate General of EIA Permit and Inspection within the scope of Article 35 of the Environmental Measurement and Analysis Laboratories Competency Regulation, and during the audits, improvements were recommended in pre-treatment for analyses of solid waste (coal analyses) and in Landfill areas for solid fuel samples. Furthermore, the expansion of the use areas of the current laboratory building for the production of Control Samples and Certified Reference Materials will be completed in the first quarter of 2018 with the construction of an additional building.

ADMINISTRATIVE AND FINANCIAL AFFAIRS
İZAYDAŞ has achieved a turnover of 79.843.492,47 TRL, and a net loss of -745.223 TRL as of the end of 2018. The amount of taxes paid in 2018 was 484.211,68 TRL. This amount consists of provisional corporate tax return and bank withholding taxes.

Independent Audits
According to the Turkish Commercial Code no. 6102, our company underwent a mandatory independent audit, and concluded a contract with Independent Auditor Company Etken Bağımsız Denetim ve YMM A.Ş. The opinion in the Independent Audit Report states that the financial data in the annual report of the executive board is consistent with the audited consolidated financial charts and accurate.
In the section on other regulatory liabilities, it is stated that there are no significant uncertainties to suggest that the business will not be able to continue its activities in the predictable future, according to BDS 570, in compliance with Article 402, clause 3 of the Turkish Commercial Code no. 6102. The control, inspection, detection and penal procedures were carried out by intervening rapidly and effectively to the pollution of the marine vehicles thanks to the marine aircraft added to our inventory in 2018 as İZAYDAŞ.

In 2018, the company carried out the surface cleaning operations of territorial waters belonging to Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality with 3 sea surface cleaning boats and 1 patrol boat.

INCINERATION
Clinical and Hazardous Waste Incineration and Energy Generation Facility
The operating principle of the facility, which has an incineration capacity of 5.400 kg/h, is based on the disposal of plastic waste of industrial origin, used oils, pharmaceutical and cosmetic waste, petrochemical waste, PVC, dye waste, adhesives and glues, treatment sludge and other hazardous waste as well as clinical waste by means of incineration.

The data of the waste disposed by incineration at the incineration facility under the waste acceptance criteria is given in the table below. In 2018, 402 tons of fuel-oil was consumed as additional fuel at the incineration facility.

Performance
As of the end of 2018, the total operating time of the facility was 7,584 hours, total downtime was 372 hours and planned maintenance downtime was 864 hours.
Energy Generation
In 2018, 36.762 tons of incinerated waste was used to generate 16.658.000 kWh electrical energy, under the 49-year generation license. 11.975.605 kWh of this electricity was used in the facility, while 5.569.770 kWh was sold to TEİAŞ and 887.371 kWh of electricity was purchased.

Sterilization Facility
The medical wastes generated at all health institutions in Kocaeli province are collected and disposed by İZAYDAŞ. Since the commissioning of Sterilization Facility in 2009, the infected medical waste is disposed of after a sterilization treatment. Pathological waste is still disposed of by incineration at the Incineration Facility. The wastes collected from approximately 800 health facilities are stored after sterilization and the pathological wastes are disposed of by incineration.

Biogas Facility
The Biogas Facility produces biogas by using the anaerobic degradation process on grass, vegetable market waste, rumen waste, poultry and bovine manure. The produced gas is transformed into electrical power by using a gas engine. The heat energy generated by cooling the gas engine is used for heating the reactors which operate in mesophilic conditions. With the 10-year valid License for Generation of Renewable Energy, issued by EPDK in 2012, and the partial temporary acceptance of the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the electrical energy generated at the facility is sold to the Electricity Distribution Company as renewable energy.

İZAYDAŞ completed and commissioned the treatment facility in 2013, which is planned for the treatment of waste water in compliance with the ISU discharge criteria. The waste water generated during treatment is sent to 42 Evler Domestic and Industrial Waste Water Treatment Facility of ISU by means of the waste water collection line.

WASTE ACCEPTANCE
Pre-treatment activities
In order to render the wastes accepted to our facility applicable to the feeding conditions, the liquid and dust partition and the preparation activities for packaging to be sent to the recovery unit were conducted.
Licensing of Flushing Unit for Contaminated IBC, Metal/Plastic Drum
The deficiencies of the unit were completed to ensure cleaning and recovery of Contaminated IBC, Metal/Plastic drum packaging, using pressurized hot water and chemicals, and the licensing procedure is ongoing.
LANDFILL SITES MANAGEMENT
Regular Landfill Sites in Izmit
In an area of 363.007 m2 in the total area of 800,000 m2 allocated by the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Izmit Regular Landfill Sites for Domestic and Hazardous Solid Waste was built in 1997. The domestic and hazardous waste accepted at the regular Landfill site is transferred to the working area in the proper lot depending on the type of waste. The facility has 6 lots with a capacity of 3,163,000 m3 for domestic was (total capacity is 4,753,000m3 including the roads and displacement of lot 1), and a lot with a capacity of 969,919 m3 for hazardous waste. The laying/compression process is performed with heavy-duty equipment, and the waste is covered with interim covering soil to prevent odour and adverse environmental impact.
After completion of the Landfill process, which is estimated to take 25-32 years, the area will be afforested and returned to the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.

In accordance with the Regulation on Landfills (Regular Storage of Wastes), the “Management Plans” for the Hazardous Waste (Class I) and Municipal Waste and Non-Hazardous Waste (Class II) regular landfill facilities, which must be revised every year, were completed and sent to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization on 02.10.2018.

A tender was held on 23.06.2010 for Construction and Operation of Power Generation Facility from Garbage Gas (LFG) at İZAYDAŞ Izmit and Dilovası Domestic Solid Waste Regular Landfill Site. As a result of the tender, the electrical connections were installed at Izmit Landfill Facility and the electricity generation was completed, and the generation of electricity was started on 02.03.2012. The facility for electricity generation from garbage gas, constructed within the scope of the Project of Electricity Generation Facility from Garbage Gas, has been developed as a “Gold Standard Project” which is the most prestigious international voluntary standard. Körfez energy company which has started to generate energy from garbage gas since March 2012, made carbon sales of 631,452 tCO2 between 2014-2018.

Dilovası Regular Landfill Site
Dilovası Regular Landfill Site has two gas engines. The engines have an established power of 1,063 MW, and the facility has a working time in the full capacity of more than 8,000 hours per year.

In accordance with the Regulation on Landfills (Regular Storage of Wastes), the samples were collected from the Underground Water Wells and Leachate Collection Drainage from İzmit and Dilovasi Landfill Sites and analyzed in 2018.
Odour Repelling Activities in Landfill Sites
İzmit Landfill Site
In 2018, maintenance and repair works were carried out on the odor barrier system, which was commissioned on 09.08.2011, and the system continued to be used efficiently.
Besides, an “Odour-Repelling Reactive Fan” was purchased to minimize the generation of odour in Class II Landfill sites. The reactive fan equipment was delivered to İZAYDAŞ on 02.10.2017. The trial runs of the installed system were performed on 06.10.2017 and 13.10.2017. In consequence of the efficiency of the result, 1 additional fan was installed and a total of 2 Reactive Fan System was activated.

Work Accidents
44 minor workplace accidents were recorded by the end of December 2018. 44 victims of 44 workplace accidents received first aid, medical response and transfer to hospital. 44 workplace accidents in 2018 resulted in a loss of 43 working days.
We keep track of the number of accident-free days at our facility on a board at the shift management office. In the event that the accidents of İZAYDAŞ staff result in a loss of two or more working days, we reset the board. As of 31.12.2018, the number of accident-free working days was recorded as 58. Our record in accident-free working days is 568.

OHS Activities
During the year, personal protective equipment was checked and supplied, and delivered to the employees under their sole responsibility.
An audit of order, cleanliness, safety and environment was performed every month, prior to the OHS Board meeting, with the participation of relevant units. The findings of the audit were evaluated at the OHS Board meeting, and corrective and preventive actions were taken for the discussed issues.
Hydrostatic tests and periodic inspections of lifting and conveying equipment within our organization and pressure vessels, the inspection period of which have expired, within our facility were carried out.
Following the works aimed at ensuring preparedness for potential emergencies, identifying the things to be done, and evaluating the effectiveness of the emergency response teams, the Emergency response team and Emergency response plan was updated in 2018. Following the update, the assigned staff were notified about their duties, and training was given.
During the year, unannounced earthquake and fire drills were carried out. In drills, our plans, functions of the employees and teams, fire-fighting, first aid and wounded rescue, ensuring the safety of the entrance and exit of the facility, informing the press and other institutions and environmental accident intervention processes were observed and evaluated.

Occupational Health and Safety training was carried out in our organization ranked as the very dangerous group in accordance with the training plan of 2018. At the end of the behavioral change oriented training with the interactive participation, 16 hours of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training per employee was conducted and training evaluations were performed.
OHS Board Meetings
İZAYDAŞ Occupational Health and Safety Board meetings were held on every third Wednesday at 09:30, in accordance with the articles 22 and 30 of the Law no. 6331 on Occupational Health and Safety and the associated “Directive on Occupational Health and Safety Boards”. The board meetings were notified to the members of the board 48 hours in advance, with an invitation that includes the date, time and place of the meeting. The agenda of the meeting was prepared with due consideration to the recommendation of board members.

In 2018, Information Technologies Management has completed 560 job orders in System
and Software.
Activities Completed
Actions have been taken regarding the information security violation incidents which will
create/created threats. Within the scope of these activities, the following issues were
examined on a daily basis and necessary actions were taken.
Hardware change,
Malicious software exposure,
USB Ports,
Redundancy,
Server health status,
Blacklist,
Internet line cut reports.
Camera/Security System improvements have been made and analog cameras have been
replaced with IP cameras.

Audio, video, internet and UPS systems were installed in the newly built meeting hall.
Remote surveillance cameras were installed on the vessels under the responsibility of
Maritime Services.
Camera system was installed on the marine aircraft.
ISO 27001 Information Security Management System Certification Audit has been carried out
and ISO 27001 Information Security Management System has been certified by passing the
audit successfully.

Periodic maintenances have been carried out within the scope of the drills planned under the
ISO 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS) and IT Equipment Annual
Maintenance Plan.

HONOURING NIGHT FOR 20TH YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT
İZAYDAŞ honoured its employees who have been at the company for 20 years. The employees who worked for 20 years for İZAYDAŞ were awarded plaques and watches, and emotional moments were witnessed.
CELEBRATION OF WORLD WOMEN’S DAY
Women employees of İZAYDAŞ came together at a program held for the March 8 World Women’s Day. The program included a dinner organization and presentation of gifts.

İZAYDAŞ Management celebrated the special days of our employees throughout the year, such as birthdays, weddings, circumcision and anniversaries. The employees who completed their 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th years at the company were awarded plaques.

The website which has been prepared within the scope of the activities of our unit for the promotion of our laboratory is online and can be accessed via a link on our home page. When our website is accessed via a smart phone, the mobile website automatically adjusts itself to the screen size of the smart phone.

E-Photograph Archive
All photographs taken between 2003-2018 are shared with all of our employees in the e-photograph archive in digital media. In 2018, 621 photographs at different topics were taken and a folder was created for them and they were opened to share.

Social Responsibility Project “IZAYCAN” AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS
A cartoon character named “IZAYCAN” was created to contribute to raising awareness among our children on waste and its damages on the environment, recycling, and environmental consciousness, and a set consisting of five stories and one painting book was created, and the 8th edition of the set was printed. Until present, 40,000 book sets of IZAYCAN were distributed to primary school students and to our visitors as gifts. Moreover, IZAYCAN has become an attraction for children once again.
We made courier delivery of booklets, day planners and new year’s cards to 2,000 people including customers, representatives of the industry and protocol. Besides, we offer a bag containing our promotional materials made of recycled materials as a gift to every visitor at our facilities.
The Promotional Booklet, İZAYDAŞ in 41 questions, Booklet on Energy Generation from Garbage Gas (LFG), Environment Laboratory, İZAYDAŞ Academy and Waste Transportation, as well as the booklet titled “Suggestions for Efficient Use of Energy at Home” have been prepared by İZAYDAŞ Public Relations department. 60,000 copies of the booklet titled “İZAYDAŞ in 41 questions” which had been distributed to the neighborhoods and villages adjacent to the company in previous years and also to all visitors who come to our facility and to the people who visited our booth in the organizations we participated in have been distributed.
