KG 2 Storytelling (19/1/2011)
Telling and listening to stories has always been fun and enjoyable too. Encouraging
story telling in the classroom builds imagination and helps children to think logically. It
helps to stretch their imagination especially when they are told that anything is possible
in a story. Story telling has even more advantages. It helps to improve a child‟s literacy
skills and helps them to predict what is going to happen next. This is a skill that they will
be able to use in other areas of life too.
On Thursday, the Kindergarten 2 kids had a story telling session in their respective
classrooms. The children came up with interesting stories which were taught to them
like „Jack and the bean stalk‟, „The thirsty crow‟, „The hare and the tortoise‟, „A greedy
dog‟. It was an engrossing session and went on extremely well. The little ones were very
confident and enthusiastic about the stories they narrated. It was an eventful day
wherein each child participated.
Lots of pictures were clicked and small cards of appreciation were handed out to them. Our kids felt like stars and they rightly deserved to do so .
We even had a principal amidst us who was willing to meet and speak to us.
