HAPPY NEW YEAR!
My wish for all is a very happy and healthy New Year! With 2019 behind us now, it is good to know we have a fresh start with 2020 arriving! I know many of you have experienced unexpected challenges this past year and weathered them as best as possible. It is always hard to see others struggling with the hard times life can unexpectedly throw our way. But the good side of these trying times is seeing friends coming together to support each other in bad times as well as good. A famous song comes to mind—”You’ve Got A Friend” by Carole King. Beautifully written it speaks to the willingness of friends to be there for others in times of need. If I could dedicate that tune, I would dedicate it to our Senior Center. It would, at the least, make a perfect motto. No matter what the troubles, you can always come to our center and be sure to find a friend. If you need a hug, someone to listen or just a smiley face, you have all of the above right here in one build-ing! Amazing how much difference this gift makes in our lives and the lives of others. We can’t take away the hurt and heartache oth-ers may be faced with but we can be there to lighten the load through support, understanding and a lot of love! It is a big part of our mission at the Shirley Doane Senior Center and thanks to all you friends, our mission is accomplished daily!
