COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY FIVE POINTS BRANCH Volunteers are an integral part of the Y’s mission as a non-profit seeking to make an impact in our community. One volunteer who has embodied the Y’s four core values of caring, honesty, responsibility and respect is Hunter, a teen volunteer with our Youth Sports Programs. Hunter first joined the Y as a member, eagerly participating in a range of programs. Over the past year and a half, Hunter has assisted with various sports classes, while balancing school and his own participation on different sports teams. Despite a busy schedule, Hunter’s enthusiasm is contagious to the children in the youth sports programs. During summer break, he devoted many hours to volunteer with our Soccer, Baseball and Multisport camps. To date, he has completed over 65 volunteer hours and continues to actively volunteer throughout his senior year of high school. Thomas Galuppo, Director of Healthy Living, states, “Even though he was a volunteer, Hunter always earned the unofficial title of favorite counselor because he was able to connect with the campers in a special way and motivate them to do their best.” When asked why he chose to volunteer, Hunter says, “At the end of the day, knowing that I made a child’s summer a little brighter, makes it all worth it.” When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change right in your own neighborhood. COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY FIVE POINTS BRANCH

Volunteers are an integral part of the Y’s mission as

a non-profit seeking to make an impact in our community. One volunteer who has embodied the

Y’s four core values of caring, honesty, responsibility and respect is Hunter, a teen volunteer with our Youth Sports Programs. Hunter first joined the Y

as a member, eagerly participating in a range of programs. Over the past year and a half, Hunter has

assisted with various sports classes, while balancing school and his own participation on different sports

teams.

Despite a busy schedule, Hunter’s enthusiasm is contagious to the children in the youth sports

programs. During summer break, he devoted many hours to volunteer with our Soccer, Baseball and Multisport camps. To date, he has completed over 65

volunteer hours and continues to actively volunteer

throughout his senior year of high school.

Thomas Galuppo, Director of Healthy Living, states, “Even though he was a volunteer, Hunter always

earned the unofficial title of favorite counselor because he was able to connect with the campers in

a special way and motivate them to do their best.”

When asked why he chose to volunteer, Hunter says, “At the end of the day, knowing that I made a child’s

summer a little brighter, makes it all worth it.”

When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change right

in your own neighborhood.

For Youth Development. For Mentorship. For Sportsmanship.
