A general section covers general real estate knowledge, and the state section covers Minnesota law. Passing requires a minimum score of 75% on each section.

Your Continuing Education Requirements After LicensureThe Minnesota Department of Commerce requires all new licensees to complete 30 hours of state-approved education during their initial licensing period. The licensee’s initial licensing period will expire on the second June 30 after issuance. The first license year will be less than 12 months, followed by the second license year that will run from July 1 to June 30.

The continuing education requirements for your first license renewal are as follows:• 1 hour of mandatory agency representation and disclosure • 1 hour of mandatory fair housing issues • Required Module for your second license year. Each year, the Minnesota Commissioner of

Commerce designates a course as the “required module” that will either be 3.75 or 7.5 credit hours. This course is required in the second license year.

• Elective Continuing Education. The remaining hours of education may consist of “elective” courses that are approved by the Minnesota Commissioner of Commerce.
