2012 was my year for backpacking and time in nature. With my son, I walked the Hundred Miles of
Wilderness on the Appalachian Trail in Maine. I also backpacked in Vermont and Canada. I continue to
use my wooden bowl and spoon several times a week. I tried yoga at Knoll Farm for the first time and
I’m happy to say I’ve stuck with it. The week at the Farm was a treasured gift and it makes me happy to
know others get to experience it every year.
On the work side of life, my situation has changed dramatically. My public health training program
closed in June, 2012 when our contract finished. I was the director for 16 years and sad to see the
program end. On a brighter note, I was asked by our parent organization (local hospital) to stay and
work on community health, government relations, and to help design integrated systems of care so that
hospital, primary care, and community health are better linked.
