What is the Jefferson‐Lewis Childcare Project? The Jefferson‐Lewis Childcare Project (JLCP), a program of Community Action Planning Council, brings together parents, child care professionals, community members, business leaders, and government agencies to help develop and support accessible, affordable, high‐quality child care for children and families.

What services does JLCP offer?

Child Care Resource and Referral JLCP provides free child care referrals tailored to family needs. We offer important tips on choosing the best child care setting. Child and Adult Care Food Program Funds are available for child care providers who serve nutritious foods to children in home‐based care. We offer assistance with menu planning and healthy choices. Provider Training JLCP offers a variety of professional development opportunities, from classroom training to online courses and free coaching. Registration In partnership with New York State, we assist and guide providers as they develop their Family Day Care and School‐Aged Child Care programs.

September Recipes for Disaster: Keeping Food Safe in Child Care A free workshop for Family and Group Family child care providers! These are words that you, as busy child care providers, are very familiar with. Have you ever stopped to think about how many times food is handled before it gets to a child's plate? Based on Serving Safe Food in Child Care developed by the National Food Service Management Institute and the USDA Fight Bac® program, this eye‐opening and inter‐active workshop will share a four step process for keeping the foods served to young children in the child care setting safe. Join us as we explore strategies that will help prevent food‐borne illness in children... and ourselves! Following this presentation will be an overview of the Child and Adult Care Food Program, including time for questions. This training will provide practical strategies to support all children’s social emotional development. Super Saturday: Your Toolbox for Building a Healthy Brain Saturday October 19 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM (6 hours of training plus breaks and lunch) at CAPC If you’re caring for young children, then you’re a brain architect. Building a healthy brain is vital for children’s success in school and beyond. What tools are in your toolbox to ensure a healthy foundation? How is brain development connected to other areas of development? In this fun and interactive workshop, we will identify ways to purposefully use brain development strategies such as relationships, respect, repetition, routines, and responsive interactions—the “5 R’s”. We will explore practical tips that you can use immediately in your work with children and their families. This training is part of the Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect (PCAN) curriculum developed by Zero to Three®. Module one of PCAN was delivered during our Spring Conference and was a huge hit! Participants asked for additional material and we’re delivering! We hope you will join us as we share a second helping of PCAN as it promises to be as interactive and informative as the first! Registering for JLCP Workshops

Registration & Payment: To register for training, complete a registration form and submit with payment to CAPC by mail or in person at least 5 days prior to the training. CAPC is not responsible for payments that are left with or handed to any person other than Administration Office Staff. Registration forms can be found at www.capcjc.org. Accepted forms of payment: cash, checks payable to CAPC, money orders, purchase orders and EIP Award Notifications. If you receive EIP scholarship for training for which you have already paid, CAPC will issue a reimbursement. You are responsible for any difference between the award amount and the cost of the class and payment must be received 5 business days prior to class. All checks returned to CAPC for insufficient funds subject to cur‐rent returned‐check fee. Post‐dated checks not accepted. Cancellations: If a class you have paid for is cancelled you will be notified and issued a training pass, equivalent to the amount you paid, to use toward another training within the next year. Training pass will be issued only if you notify JLCP before the scheduled workshop. After business hours please dial extension 239 for voicemail. Certificates and Training Records: Certificates for trainings other than SUNY Videoconferences will be given to participants upon completion of a training and receipt of full payment. There will be a $5 fee for replacement of lost certificates. We will provide a record of your JLCP training upon request. SUNY Videoconferences: Photo ID is required. If you are registered and can not attend, please call 800‐295‐9616. Participants must arrive by 6:45 pm, stay until 9 pm and receive a passing grade on the multiple‐choice test in order to receive a certificate. Certificates are mailed to you from SUNY.
