The stem in general will consist of three single phase
transformers, of the rper size connected together on the
sub-station platform for three phase operation; A three phase
squirrel cage type vertical oiotor mounted on a 7ertical shaft
pump in the pump-house arid a control switch-bo.. rd in the puip-
house on which are mounted the various pieces of cntrol appar-
atus. The size of the weather proof wire from the sub-station to
the pumD-house a distance which will average some 75 feet, the
size of the transformers, the size of the motor, the size of the
rubber covered wire for pumphouse wiring, the size of the conduit,
the size of main entrance fused switch nd the size of arrieter
required are ailgiven for each pump location in the forrq for
bids hrewith enclosed.

All wiring inside pump-house is to be in conduit or metal

Anieter. is to be mounted on side of the cabinet on outside with
short circuting switch inside but operated from outside.

All wiring and materials used shall correspond to the rules
and regulations of the Hational Board of ire Underwriters.

The general arrangement of the switch-board apparatus, service
switch, ieter cabinet, ammeter, definite time-delay-re1y, ag-
netic auto-transformer starter, push button control etc. on the
angle iron switch-board as d.escribed above shall be submitted.
to the Engineer of the District for his approval or rejection
before work on the same is started. The Thgineer reserves the
right to change this arrangement as he shall see fit.
It is the general intent of these specifications that a
complete electrical installation, fully adequate for satisfactory
operation of each pumping plant unit shall result and the Elec-
trical Contractor shall be required to furnish all material
and labor for a complete job even if such necessary material
and labor is not definately mentioned or described in the fore-
going specifications.

which may be seen at the office of the Distriot, and

SPECIFICATIONS FOR CASING AND WELL DRILLING.
PROPOSAL. Blank spaces in. the proposal and in.
the statement of the time of the beginning and the rate of
completing the rk should be properly filled. Bidders
are invited to be present at the opening of proposals.
The right is reserved to rejeot any or all proposals and
to waive technical defeets as the interest of the District
may reQuire. The proposals shall be submitted in. a
sealed envelope marked "Proposal for Furnishing Casing and
Drilling Wells" and addressed to Buckeye Water Conservation
and Drainage District, Buckeye, Arizona. As soon as con-
venient after the bids are opened the Board of Directors
of the District may let the work either in portion or as
a whole, to the lowest responsible bidder for the whole
or portions of such work. The Board reserves the right to
reject any and all bids.
THE cONTRACT. The Bidder to whom the award is
made will be reQuired to execute a written contract with
the Buckeye Water Conservation and Drainage District,
agreeing to fiu'nish the material and execute the work at
the prices bid and. in accordance with. the Specifications.
A copy of these Specifich.tions shall be embodied in and.
made a part of the contract.

3. EIGINER. The word Engineer used in these
Specifications or in the Contract means the Chief..
igineer of the. Buckeye Water Conservation and Drainage
District. He will be represented by assistants and
Inspectors authorized to act for him. On all questions
ooneerialng the interpretation Specifications, the
classification of nterIals, the exeeun of the work,
and. the determination of oosts, the decision of the
Engineer shall be final.
4 CONTRACTOR. The word "Contraotor' used in
those Specifications or in the contract means the. person,
fira or corporation with. om the contract is made with
the Buckeye Water Conservation and Drainage District0
The Contractor shall at all tia be represented on the
works, in. person or by a foreman as duly designated agent.
Instructions and information given by the Engineer to the
Contractor's foreman or agent on the work shall be con-
sidered as having been given to the Contractor0

performed in a first class manner by experienced men,

6. MATERIAL. All material furnished to be first
class in every respect. Casing to be double easing of
#10 gange Hard. Red. Steel, twenty inches in. dianeter.
To be in twenty-four inch joints an eq.ual number of inside
and outside joints to be fumished.. To have single
riveted joints. Starter to be three ply, of #10 gauge
Hard Red Steel, 15 feet long, 9 feet of three-ply and.
6 feet of two-ply, with a Standard. Well Ring twenty
inches in diameter, twelve inches long and one and one
quarter inches thlek0

receive no compensation for delays or hindrances to the
work except when direct and unavoidable extra cost to
the Contractor is caused by failure of the. District to
provide necessary site for construction. When such
extra compensation is claimed, a written statement thereof
shall be presented by the Contractor within fifteen days
after the close of the month during which extra cost is
claimed to. have been incurred.. If delays are caused by
specific orders to stop work given by the gineer, or
by the performance of extra work, or by unforseen causes
beyond the control of the Contractor, then suoh delay
will entitle the Contractor to an equivalent extension
of time0
8 EXTRA WORK OR Mà.TERIALS The Engineer may at any
time during the prress of the work, order work or ma-terials not covered by these specifications. Such work
ox materials will be classed as extra work and will be
ordered in writing. Extra work or material shall be charged
for at actual necessary cost, plus fif teen per cent (15%)for profit, superintendence, and general expense. Allbids for extra work or material shall be presented at theend of the calendar month in which such rk or materialis furnishedG
9 LOCAL C ONDI T IONS Bidders shall satisfy them-Vselves as to local conditions affecting the work0
ERRORS AIU OMISSIONS. The Contractor shallnot be allowed to take advantage of any error or omissionin the specifications. Suitable instructions will begiven when such error or omission is discovered.
CEACTER OF VO1UMJ!N. None but skilled foremanand workmen shall be employed on work requiring special
quaiifications, and when. required by the Engineer, theContractor shall discharge any person who is disorderly,dangerous, insubordinate, incompetent or otherwise obec-tionable Such di soharge shall not be the basis f or anyclaim for compisation or damages against the BuckeyeWater Conservation and Drainage District, or any of itsofficers or employee0
12. DELkYS. Should. the Contractor abandon the
work, or cause it to be unreasoimbly delayed, or should.
be fail to furnish sufficient material, eq.uipinent or
laborera to complete the rk within the time agreed
upon, or should he wilfully violate any of the conditions
of th.e contract so as to delay the. completion of the work,
the Diatriot shall have the right to furnish, such force
and. eq,uipment as may be sufficient to complete the work
within the time agreed upon. If the work done by this
force coats more than 'the contract price for such work,
the excess cost will be charged against the Contractor0
If the cost is less than the contract price for such work,
the profit will be credited to the Contractor0
l3 DESCRIPTION OF WORK0
(A) The wells to be constructed. under
these spe1fioations will be located in the Buckeye
Water Conservation and. Da1r.ge Districts The material

caliohe, underlaid with heavy gravel and boulders0 It
is the intention to sink the wells well into the water
beari materials. The depth of the wells will depend
upon the character of material enoountered. and will be
determined as work proresse8. It is expected that they
may vary from 120 to 2O feet deep. The size of the
wells will be 20" in diameter. The minimum number of
wells that will be req.uired is ten, and. the right is
reserved to increase this to twenty.(B) The Contractor shall furnish all
material and complete well drilling rx.chinery withcompetent men to operate the sam.e for sinking, casing,perforating, sand. pumping and putting wells in suitablecondition for the installing of pumps. All wells areto be drilled in. a. good. and worknianlike maimer with
casings sufficiently straight to permit the proper operationof pumps designed for them. Perforator knives shall bekept sharp and. in such condition that they will positivelyout the casing. The size of perforations will be desig-nated by the ineer; they y vary from three-eighthsby four (3/8 x 4) inches to three-fourths by four (3/4 x 4)inches.
(o) The contractor shall keep an accuratelog of each well, together with samples of the variousmaterials encountered and record all changes in ground.water elevation during drilling or perforation and furnishthe same to the Engineer.
14. Q.UMTTITIES AND UIT PRICES.
(A) The quantity of work cannot bedefinitely stated. except that not less than nor
more than wells will be drilled. The depth ofeach well will depend. upon the character of materialencountered. The unit price for drilling and casing shall
in.olu.de work in all materials except rook or heavy
boulders, where the rate of progress for eight (8)
consecutive hours working is less than four (4) feet0
In suoh material drilling will be paid. for by the
hour at the unit price per foot under Item Nol 5 of
schedule.
In the event that the total amountd.ue the Contractor on any one well for drilling and
casing under Item No. 3, and for rook work under Item
No. 5 of the Sohedule, iail be less than the amount
which would be earned by drilling 125 feet at the unit
price bid on Item lb. 3 of the Schedule, the Contractor
shall be paid for sioh well the equivalent of 150 feet
at the price bid on Item 3 of said. Schedule. Other work
performed by the Contractor in connection with such well
under Item S and 6 of said Schedule shall be paid for as
horeinbefore provided, in addition to the minimum payment
to be made as above specified.Paym.t for perforating will be made
at the unit price bid on It No. 4 of schedule, for the
number of linear feet of easing actually perforated.0
The moving of well drilling equipment
from job to job in the field after completing the first
wall to be drilled by each rig employed will, be done by
the Contractor and. will be paid for by th.e mile under bid.
in Item 6. The moving from one well drilled to new location
shall be at the direction of the g1neer. This moving
does not include the moving of tools or eq.uipmeut from
one well being drilled to another well being drilled.
The Contractor is expected to furnish each rig complete
with. all tools and. eQuipment, necessary for operating
independently of other rigs.
DEFECTIYE M&TERIAL OR IOHK. A1y d.efeotive
material or unfaithful or improperly executed work which
xnay be discovered befo.re the fil acceptance of the work
shall Do corrected iiiediately. The inspection of the work
shall not relieve the Contractor of any of his obligations
to perform sound. work, as herein prescribed; material or
work, of whatever kind, which during its progress and. be-
fore It is finally accepted, may become damaged from any
cause., sha].l be removed and replaced by good and. satisfac-
tory work.
TESTING. ill testing of wells will be done by
the District. Any work done by the Contractor in eonneo-
tion with such tests, such as installing test pump, or sand.
pump, will be paid for by the hour and. the price bid tinner

PROTECTION OF WOC U'Th CLflG TIP. The Contaetoshall be responsible for any material furnisId by him, and.
for the care of all work until its completion and. final
acceptance. He shall remove from the site of the work
any temporary structures built by him, or rubbish tha.t
may have accumulated, axid, leave the site in a neat con-
dition.
18. PROGRESS ESTIILATES MD PAfltENTS. At the end
of each calendar month, the Engineer will make an esti-
mate of all work done i to that date, classified accordingto Item8 uaned in the Schedule. To this will be added
the amowits earne.d for extra work to the date of the esti-
mated. From the total thus obtained, a deduction of fifteen
per cent. (15%) wll be de, and fro.m the remaier there
will be deducted the .m of all previous payments together
'with any other sums due from the Contractor. The balance
will be due and, payable on the 15th of the month following
that for whieh the estimate is nde. The fifteen per cent
(15%) retained will be due ax payable ien the entire
work included in the contract is conleted. and accepted,
and provided all claims for labor and teria1 or supplies
incurred by the Contractor on the work have been. paid0

and under security as set forth in the attached contract bond,
which are hereby adopted and made a part of this agreement.
