Welcome to Kids’ College and Teen University at Trident Technical College!

We are pleased to offer a variety of educational opportunities to build on your children’s imagination, creativity and talent as they experience Trident Technical College’s (TTC) 20th year of providing summer camps for students ages 7-17. Kids’ College programs are geared towards children ages 7-11 and Teen University is programmed specifically for teens and preteens ages 12-17.

Camps are divided into the following subject areas:| College Prep| Computer Technology| Creative Arts| Culinary, Baking and Pastry| Leadership Skills| Math and Science| Young Professionals

Camps are offered at:| Main Campus in North Charleston| Mount Pleasant Campus in Mount Pleasant| Palmer Campus in downtown Charleston

Registration| Don’t wait until the last minute to register.

Make sure your child has a summer to remember!

in? Place your child on the Summer Camps Waiting List at http://www.tridenttech.edu/ce/programs/summer-camps/index.htm.

LocationThe location is designated in the course

code/date line underneath each course description (see bottom of pages of this publication for the key).

SnackA 15-minute break is scheduled every day,

morning and afternoon. Campers are asked to bring a snack and drink except for those attending the culinary and pastry camps.

Drop-OffParents must escort their children to and

from the classroom and sign them in and out each day. Please drop off your child at the site of his/her first camp. Campers should arrive on campus no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the start of the camp. Campers arriving earlier will not be supervised, and parents must accept full responsibility for their behavior and safety. Students changing building locations during the day will be escorted by a TTC staff member. Children driving themselves to camp will be required to sign in and out. If the child does not sign in, TTC will make every effort to notify the parent listed as the emergency contact.

Pick-UpParents must pick up children from the

classroom and sign them out. Campers should be picked up promptly at noon for the 8:30 a.m.-noon classes and 4:30 p.m. for the 1-4:30 p.m. classes. If campers are not picked up within 15 minutes after their class has ended, they will be escorted to the supervised lunchroom. A late fee of $15 for each 15 minutes will be charged for campers remaining more than 15 minutes after their class has ended. Please allow ample time for traffic and weather, and if you’re going to be late, call 843.574.6152.

Early Pick-UpPlease notify staff during check in.

Dress CodePlease dress children appropriately; no flip-

flops allowed.

Safety and SecurityPlease do not call or text your children

during camp hours because this may disrupt the class or cause an accident. Trident Technical College cannot be responsible for the loss of personal items such as video games and cell phones.

Disruptive BehaviorCampers engaging in disruptive behavior

will be sent home. This includes inappropriate behavior, fighting, shoving and inappropriate language.

Special NeedsIf a student has any physical, emotional, or

educational special needs that would require special accommodations by camp staff, it is the responsibility of the legal guardian to disclose that information at the time of enrollment in order for camp staff to be aware. Please note that TTC does not guarantee all special accommodations will be met, but will do all that is possible to provide reasonable accommodations to campers.

AllergiesIf a student has food allergies, please be

aware that TTC does not guarantee an allergen-free environment. Recipes may contain nuts, nut oils, shellfish, gluten, dairy, produce and other food allergens.

InstructorsSummer camp instructors are qualified

educators from our local area who are selected for their abilities and expertise. They have years of experience and are excited about working with children and teens, along with providing a creative and stimulating learning environment.

Cancellation/Refund PolicyTrident Technical College reserves the

right to cancel courses due to insufficient enrollment or instructor availability, in which case registrants will receive a full refund. The college gives no refunds after the course starts. No-shows are responsible for the full registration fee. The college grants a full refund to registrants if the cancellation is received eleven (11) or more business days before the course starts, less a $20 processing fee. The college will refund registrants 75 percent of the registration fee if the cancellation is received within ten (10) business days before the course starts, less a $20 processing fee.

Bring your camper for the day!

Sign up for a morning and afternoon session, pack a lunch and we’ll take care of the rest! All campers attending combined morning and afternoon camps must bring a lunch. Campers will eat in a designated area. Campers changing building locations during the day will be escorted by a TTC staff member. Children are supervised during lunch. Microwave/refrigeration access is not available.

Summer camps open for registration on Feb. 15, 2017.

Keeping Honey Bees (Ages 12-17) $149Journeyman Beekeeper Jim Strohm teaches

the basics of honey bees including anatomy, biology, bee stings, honey and other products of the hive, hive equipment, and how bees make honey and wax. Campers wear beekeeping equipment and enter actual live honey bee hives and take home honey samples. Mindstorms EV3 Robotics – Intermediate (Ages 12-17) $149

EV3, which is used in the FIRST LEGO League competitions, is the newest robotics system from LEGO Mindstorms. Campers assemble devices using components and sensors and learn basic programming to bring these devices to life. Campers are given tasks and develop devices to solve the tasks.
