APRs were released on May 10 by the NCAA for all Division I sports teams for the 2012-13 through 2015-16 period. Each UCLA sport had four-year APR averages well above the 930 score that the NCAA uses as its threshold for penalties. A total of 12 UCLA teams earned single-year perfect marks of 1,000 for the 2015-16 academic year –women's beach volleyball, men's cross country, women's cross country, women's golf, women's gymnastics, women's rowing, softball, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's volleyball and women's water polo. To honor our scholar-athletes, on May 8, UCLA student-athletes, coaches, and staff gathered in Covel Commons on UCLA Campus for the annual Scholar-Athlete Banquet. Sponsored by the late Rose Gilbert in memory of her daughter Maggie, this annual banquet honors and recognizes UCLA’s top scholar-athletes. The most prestigious award, Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is awarded to the male and female graduating seniors with the highest cumulative GPA. This year’s award winners were Football’s Thomas Schwab, and Women’s Swimming and Diving’s Annika Lenz. For more information about these awards and UCLA Athletics’ Graduation Success Rates, please call the Academics and Student Services Office at 310-825-7057. STUDENT-ATHLETE ACADEMIC SUCCESS What was your favorite moment thus far from the 2016-17 year in UCLA Athletics? Neema Barbod: “The Men’s Basketball comeback win game against Oregon was an amazing experience in Pauley. We had a sold out crowd and the atmosphere was really amazing!” Gina Garrett: “For me, it was at the UCLA vs. Cincinnati game at the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Due to the nature of my job, I’m not able to watch our MBB games live but all the elements lined up for me this weekend and I ended up at Sacramento; a WAF donor generously shared a ticket with me, a Bruin alumni and long-time friend offered a seat in her car for the drive up, and we both stayed at the home of our mutual friend in Sacramento who’s also a Bruin alumni and ex-athletic department staff. Together as avid Bruin fans, we all watched this incredible UCLA game. It brought back everything I loved about the NCAA Basketball Tournament, the drama, the unpredictability, and the joy when my team pulls it off by playing a remarkable 2nd half.” Alicia Junker: My favorite moment from the 2016-17 year in UCLA Athletics was watching our two Olympians compete on our UCLA Gymnastics team (Madison Kocian and Kyla Ross) and helping our team score ten perfect “10’s” this season! In addition, setting new attendance records for UCLA Gymnastics and selling out an electric Pauley Pavilion for almost every Men’s Basketball game this season was incredible. It made me very proud to be a Bruin. Kat Lauer: “My favorite moment was the UCLA Men's Basketball comeback win against Oregon. The energy in Pauley was electric and the performance was storybook worthy; it's something I'll never forget.” Sarah Lazaro: “UCLA Beach Volleyball’s win over #1 USC in the Pac-12 Championships. Even though we didn’t win the tournament, securing that win over USC and snapping their 62-dual winning streak is a great milestone for our program.” Emily Lerner: “Watching our men’s basketball team beat Cincinnati to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. And witnessing two perfect 10.0’s when Christine Peng Peng Lee hit 10 on the uneven bars and Katelyn Ohashi hit 10 on the balance beam against UNC in Pauley.” Jill Machuca: The Olympians reunion game at the Rose Bowl. Seeing all of our alums with their medals and the signs for the years they repped the USA & UCLA at the games was incredible. Goosebumps! Kevin Miller: “The atmosphere in Pauley Pavilion during the Men's Basketball comeback victory against Oregon.” Parker Poliakoff: “My favorite moment from the 2016-2017 year in UCLA Athletics was UCLA Women’s Soccer 1-0 win over USC. The game was played at the StubHub Center in front of over 8,500 fans. UCLA had an amazing one touch goal in the 26th minute to beat our crosstown rivals!” Brian Smith: “We had a lot of great games in men’s basketball but our home win vs. Oregon stands out. It was Dick Enberg Night in Pauley with our students clad in “Oh My” T-Shirts. Trailing by as many as 19 points in the 1st half, we slowly chipped away before ultimately taking the lead for good late in the 2nd half. The noise and energy in Pauley during our late game push was so memorable ... a total catharsis!” Taylor Swearingen: “Watching senior guard Kari Korver hit seven three pointers in her final game at Pauley Pavilion as Women’s Basketball routed Texas A&M to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.” Zack Rosenfeld: “Seeing all of our generous supporters at Wooden Athletic Fund Appreciation Day was not only the culmination of a year’s worth of generosity from our alumni, fans and friends but also a great gathering of student-athletes from most if not all of our 25 programs.” YOUR WOODEN ATHLETIC FUND STAFF RESPONDS! What was your favorite moment thus far from the 2016-17 year in UCLA Athletics?

Neema Barbod: “The Men’s Basketball comeback win game against Oregon was an amazing experience in Pauley. We had a sold out crowd and the atmosphere was really amazing!” Gina Garrett: “For me, it was at the UCLA vs. Cincinnati game at the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Due to the nature of my job, I’m not able to watch our MBB games live but all the elements lined up for me this weekend and I ended up at Sacramento; a WAF donor generously shared a ticket with me, a Bruin alumni and long-time friend oered a seat in her car for the drive up, and we both stayed at the home of our mutual friend in Sacramento who’s also a Bruin alumni and ex-athletic department sta. Together as avid Bruin fans, we all watched this incredible UCLA game. It brought back everything I loved about the NCAA Basketball Tournament, the drama, the unpredictability, and the joy when my team pulls it o by playing a remarkable 2nd half.”Alicia Junker: My favorite moment from the 2016-17 year in UCLA Athletics was watching our two Olympians compete on our UCLA Gymnastics team (Madison Kocian and Kyla Ross) and helping our team score ten perfect “10’s” this season! In addition, setting new attendance records for UCLA Gymnastics and selling out an electric Pauley Pavilion for almost every Men’s Basketball game this season was incredible. It made me very proud to be a Bruin.Kat Lauer: “My favorite moment was the UCLA Men's Basketball comeback win against Oregon. The energy in Pauley was electric and the performance was storybook worthy; it's something I'll never forget.”Sarah Lazaro: “UCLA Beach Volleyball’s win over #1 USC in the Pac-12 Championships. Even though we didn’t win the tournament, securing that win over USC and snapping their 62-dual winning streak is a great milestone for our program.”Emily Lerner: “Watching our men’s basketball team beat Cincinnati to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. And witnessing two perfect 10.0’s when Christine Peng Peng Lee hit 10 on the uneven bars and Katelyn Ohashi hit 10 on the balance beam against UNC in Pauley.”Jill Machuca: The Olympians reunion game at the Rose Bowl. Seeing all of our alums with their medals and the signs for the years they repped the USA & UCLA at the games was incredible. Goosebumps!Kevin Miller: “The atmosphere in Pauley Pavilion during the Men's Basketball comeback victory against Oregon.”Parker Poliako: “My favorite moment from the 2016-2017 year in UCLA Athletics was UCLA Women’s Soccer 1-0 win over USC. The game was played at the StubHub Center in front of over 8,500 fans. UCLA had an amazing one touch goal in the 26th minute to beat our crosstown rivals!”Brian Smith: “We had a lot of great games in men’s basketball but our home win vs. Oregon stands out. It was Dick Enberg Night in Pauley with our students clad in “Oh My” T-Shirts. Trailing by as many as 19 points in the 1st half, we slowly chipped away before ultimately taking the lead for good late in the 2nd half. The noise and energy in Pauley during our late game push was so memorable ... a total catharsis!” Taylor Swearingen: “Watching senior guard Kari Korver hit seven three pointers in her final game at Pauley Pavilion as Women’s Basketball routed Texas A&M to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.”Zack Rosenfeld: “Seeing all of our generous supporters at Wooden Athletic Fund Appreciation Day was not only the culmination of a year’s worth of generosity from our alumni, fans and friends but also a great gathering of student-athletes from most if not all of our 25 programs.”
