Profile and Curriculum Vitae Ken Hernden 1 Ken Hernden Ken Hernden BA (Hons.), MLIS (Western University) has fifteen years’ professional experience working in libraries and archives. He has served for the last nine as University Librarian and University Archivist at Algoma University, which transitioned from an affiliate college of Laurentian University to an independent university in 2008. As University Librarian and University Archivist, Ken Hernden is responsible for the overall management and direction of all library and archives operations. This includes but is not limited to budgeting, planning, staffing, training, supervising, delegating, and reporting on operations to the VP Academic & Research and the Academic and Technical Support Committee of Senate. The University Librarian also acted as Co-Director of the Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre from 2010 to 2012, shepherding its operations from a long-standing volunteer operation to a unique, cornerstone research resource for the university with its own director, staff, and infrastructure. As a member of the university administration, Ken has regularly contributed to the planning and development programs and services and the identification of needed financial and human resources at the university. He promotes library and archival services through planning and implementing multi-year strategies designed to increase visibility and use. Ken Hernden

Ken Hernden BA (Hons.), MLIS (Western University) has fifteen years’ professional experience
