Food to eat in Batam

Are you a seafood fan? This typical seafood is indeed rather unusual from other seafood. If eating seafood such as fish, shrimp, squid, or shellfish has become a common thing, then you should try Gong Gong.

Batam? Yes! You are now at the right place if you want to find an excellent destination for travelers looking for Indonesia’s regional delicacies. This tropical island is a food lover’s paradise, where you can discover fresh seafood and spicy sambals to aromatic soups and stir-fries. These are the three foods that I think the best you should try.

GONG GONGGong gong is an edible sea snail. There’s not much to say about flavor, but it’s pretty fun to grab a conch and prise the springy flesh out with a toothpick. The texture is chewy and how to scrape it can not be arbitrary. The direction of scraping should follow the groove to snail meat out smoothly. You can enjoy this distinctive culinary practically in almost every seafood restaurant.

FISH SOUPIt is not difficult to find fish soup sellers in Batam, but I would recommend Yong Kee Restaurant. Fish Soup here the portions are quite large, even for eating together. They use mackerel fish as the main ingredient. There are also additional shrimp, squid, noodles, mustard greens, fried onions, lettuce leaves and long-sliced tomatoes with clear and not thick gravy.

HAINANESE CHICKEN RICEHainanese chicken rice is a dish of poached chicken and seasoned rice, served with chili sauce and usually comes with cucumber garnishes. You can easily find this chicken rice in every wet market in Batam, however the most famous one I think is Nasi Ayam Hainam Budi Siang Malam.

Make sure you try all these three items while you are at Batam. I guarantee you that you will not get dissapointed.

When declarer played a diamond to the jack and tossed the ace, declarer was guaranteed with 7 trick which was worth +90.

In the Open Room, defender did no mistake so the contract did not stand a chance a went one down to provide 5 IMPs swing for Porcelain who led by 5-1.

Tomohon International Bridge Tournament - RR3PraPON Jambi vs Tomohon JFE

On the last match of the day, the play got underway at 5 pm and the sensational deal came from the board 1 of the match between PraPON Jambi against the home team (literally), Tomohon JFE.

Usually, when the people feel that they have already thrown away some IMPs, they will be more aggressive or it is known as the term of “do or die”. However, since this is still the first board, do you see the reason why Wajong accepted the 2NT invitational bidding? When the dust settled, the declarer drifted two down, -100.

I think I have to agree with the 3♦ invitational bid, rather than 2NT, and played there. South led a low spade to his partner’s ace which now came a club for the five, three, and ace. Declarer won the club return with king, cashed two rounds of trumps, and played the king of spades to discard the club loser,

and followed with the cross ruff for +130 or 6 IMPs to PraPON Jambi. A good start for West’s discipline.

I am not sure what was the agreement between East and West for East was not able to open his hand with a weak two opening. The contract was then sold to 1NT. West led the ♣5 and declarer won the ♣K, and continued with ace and queen of spades.
