Description and Overview:This is a partnership project between Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) and Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES). The property is located at 4803 Tapestry Drive in Fairfax County. The project’s main goal is to transform the defunct Kings West Swim Club land into an environmental resource that will provide water quality enhancement and additional Park Authority-maintained area for the surrounding community.

Project Scope of Work:• Existing structures were demolished to reduce the impervious surfaces within the site.• A bio-retention media (specially engineered filter soil was backfilled in the former pool locations) was incorporated to

help improve stormwater runoff quality.• Site was landscaped with native plants – trees, shrubs, and seed mixes to help re-establish naturalized environments

and habitats along Rabbit Branch. • To provide visitor access, the existing asphalt trail was extended through the site to connect with the existing Tapestry

Drive sidewalk.

DPWES and Park Authority Project Team:• Project Manager, DPWES – Rose Barrie• Project Manager, PA - Isabel Villarroel • Area 4 Manager, PA - Ed Richardson• Section Supervisor, PA - Timothy Scott• Construction Manager, DPWES – Yudhie Brownson• Project Inspectors, DPWES – Joseph Adzovie & Paul Thaler• Survey Analyst, DPWES - Gregory Harper & Michael Perry
