RELIGIOUS EXEMPTIONS The State of Alaska Immunization program has revised the immunization requirements as it pertains to the religious exemption provision. Effective July 1, 2013, parents/guardians choosing to obtain a religious exemption for their child must comply with the following:

• All Religious Exemptions must be documented on the official State of Alaska Religious Exemption Form. (revised 3/2013)

• All Religious Exemption Forms must be updated annually. Previously signed religious exemption forms will not be grandfathered.

• All Religious Exemption Forms must be notarized.

All students that currently have a religious exemption on file must have a new form submitted to the school Nurse prior to starting the 2015-2016 school year in August 2015. This form must be signed and notarized after July 1, 2015 for the 2015-2016 school year. Wondering who your child’s teacher will be next year? Teachers will be calling students and families in August before school starts. They will take this time to introduce themselves and let you know which classroom your child will go to the first day of school. We look forward to seeing everyone in the fall.

TO ALL TREASURE SEEKERS:

WORDS are TREASURE! The more words you learn the richer you become! Be a Word Seeker! Did you know that you add 2,000 to 3,000 written words to your vocabulary every year? Yes! By the time you graduate from high school, you have packed in 50,000 English words. And if you speak another language, you can add many thousands more to that!! WOW!!! That is RICH! WORD SEEKERS, to KEEP all that treasure in your treasure chest-brain, you need to see and say each word many times. Why not make a goal of learning ONE NEW WORD every day this summer? You can lead your family on a treasure hunt and keep a log of all the new words your family finds. Look for treasure hidden anywhere - in a book, at the grocery store, in the car, on a street sign, in a story, and everywhere. Bring the list in next fall and show your teachers how much treasure you found this summer!!!! Happy hunting!!! LIBRARY ~ END OF YEAR All student library books must be returned to the library, or paid for by May 15th so that students may participate in Field Day. We will not be doing community service this year for missing books. School Board policy is for books to be paid for or replaced with an acceptable book. Students may not replace books from home without Mrs. Stegall’s seeing and agreeing to the book intended for replacement. Contact Mrs. Stegall at 352-0345 with any questions.

Students: YOU can help raise money for Knik’s art program by placing your artwork for sale at the Talent and Art show!

All $$$ will go toward art supplies for next year such as modeling clay, paints and charcoal pencils!

Bring your art to Mrs. Gardner no later than Monday, April 27th. Then, bring your dollars the day of the

Talent and Art show. Most artwork will cost between $3 and $5.

Parents: Art sales will be open before and after the Talent Show, which is from 2:00 – 3:30 on May 13th.

Please help us support the arts at Knik Elementary!

A special THANK YOU to the brilliant minds of Mrs. Zoerb’s 3rd grade students who came up with the idea

for this fundraiser.
