Antibiotikaresistens
Konsekvensen av -vetenskapssamhällets oförmåga att påverka folhälsopolitiken

Use and misuse New antibiotics
Resistance
”…whenever I get these symptoms and go to a doctor, he gives me the same medicine and charges me 10 rupees. So why not just buy the medicine?”
Dua V et al. 1994
We should seek a more pieceful coexistance with pathogens…..
Antibiotics that are used as prophylaxis or as “growth factors” would allow antibiotic resistance and new diseases to breed……
Hospitals are bacteriologically dirty places….
The relative protection from diseaseafforded by antibiotics is bought at the cost of a huge ransom…..

Stramas diagnos-receptstudier 2000 och 2002:Nedre urinvägsinfektion
Virulent kinolonresistent C difficile stam
• Överproducerar toxin A och B• Producerar annat toxin, okänd betydelse
– Fluorokinolon-resistent
Prospektiv kanadensisk studie
• 12 kanadensiska sjukhus 2004, 1703 pat– 22,5 CDAD/1000 inläggningar– 30-dagars ”attributable” mortalitet: 6,9 %
fluorokinoloner (OR 3,9) resp. cefalosporiner (OR 3,8).
