Wild Dog Fence Extension Project The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) trading as Soil Conservation Service propose to extend the Wild Dog Fence along the New South Wales (NSW) / South Australian (SA) border. The proposed new fence would commence at the southern end of the existing NSW/SA dog fence near Broughman’s Gate and extend south for approximately 320km to a point just south of the intersection with Old Wentworth Road in the south. The Wild Dog Fence Extension Project will require an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment (ACHA) to support the environmental impact statement (EIS). As such, DPIE is implementing the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Consultation Requirements for Proponents (DECCW 2010). The purpose of community consultation is to assist DPIE in the identification, assessment and management of Aboriginal objects or places along the NSW/SA border. Registrations of interest are invited from Aboriginal people/organisations who may hold cultural knowledge relevant to determining the significance of Aboriginal objects or places along the NSW/SA border. Further information about the registration and consultation process can be made in writing, or over the telephone, through Lantern Heritage: PO Box 7039 Tathra, NSW 2550 [email protected] 0402831291 Further information regarding the proposed works can also be obtained from: Liz Mathieson Senior Environmental Scientist Public Works Advisory PO Box N408, Grosvenor Place NSW 1220 (02) 9273 3674 The closing date for registrations of interest is 9 April 2020.
