Kororo Public School
Hello Everyone,
Welcome to Week 5. The staff and students are very pleased to be back sharing their learning experiences and taking steps to consolidate their learning so far and are looking forward to planning future events and learning tasks. The Aboriginal Language Program will resume next Thursday for Stage 2.
Due to the Covid 19 restriction some of our planned 2020 activities have had to be cancelled. The Year 6 excursion to Sydney has been cancelled however, pending the lifting of restrictions Year 6 will be attending a 2 night camp at the Coffs Coast Adventure Centre at Bonville. Lake Ainsworth has not been able to provide us with an alternative date for Year 5 in 2020. The Coffs Coast Adventure Centre has been booked in December, pending restrictions, for Year 5 for two days and one night. Further information regarding dates, cost and refunds (from the cancelled excursions) will be sent home with the students. The following events have also been cancelled or postponed: All PSSA programs for Term 1 & Term 2 Kororo School’s Athletics Carnival - pending restrictions lifting Winter Carnival Stage 3 biannual Showcase but will be back with a performance next year! The Year 6 Grip Leadership Conference All the debating challenges Hopefully restrictions will be lifted so that we can proceed with The Dance Fever program in Term 3 and our exciting explosive colour run fundraiser in Term 4. Some PSSA events may occur we are waiting for confirmation. Dance Fever - What is the program? The Fun Dance program which includes social skills is run by experience qualified staff and their lessons all lead to the final outcome....the performance. Students perform learned routines for the school community, giving everyone a sense of pride and achievement. I, myself danced at a Professional Learning Conference in Sydney recently and won a
Week 5 Term 2 - 27th May 2020
discounted price for the company to work with Kororo Public School students. It took a lot of encouragement and bravery as dancing in front of a large gathering of peers is not one of my strengths and it took a lot of courage! I am quite proud of myself for having a go and doing my best. I’m sure many Kororo students will enjoy the experience and show great talent to do their best!
What is the Explosive Colour Run? It promotes exercise, teamwork and community-mindedness with a whole lot of fun thrown in!
Students run through a circuit of activities and get drenched in non-toxic, vibrant coloured powder! They receive sponsorship in cash as well as online and are rewarded with fantastic prizes and at the same time raise funds for our school. Keep an eye out for more details to come in future newsletters. Have a great week !
Leonie Smith Principal
Yes it’s that time of the year when we start to take details of next year’s Kindergarten cohort. If you have a child starting school next year, now is the time to call the office to put their details down and pick up and enrolment package (or we can send this home with a sibling).
1 Purple
Uniform Shop
The Uniform shop will reopen next week at the usual times.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8.40am until 9am.
Please allow extra time as we expect the Uniform Shop to be very busy
first week back.
A timely reminder to PLEASE LABEL your child/ren’s
hats, jumpers, jackets, lunch bags and containers etc,
as we often collect a mountain of them in winter.
As the students have missed out on giving their mum a gift from the Mothers Day stall this year the P&C thought it would be a great idea to hold a Mothers Day Appreciation Stall on Friday, 5th June.
We are asking for students to bring in an envelope $5 for each gift. If your child requires two gifts, that would be $10.00.
On the envelope please write your child’s name, class and how much money is in the envelope.
Please do this for each one of your children as they will hand the envelope to the class teacher where their name will be marked off the class list. The envelope will remain unopen until the teacher hands the envelope back to the student to make their purchase at the stall.

NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK
27 MAY - 3 JUNE
During National Reconciliation Week 2020, we acknowledge that every one of us has a role to play in reconciliation.
In playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.
Our theme for #NRW2020 – In this together – is resonating now in ways we could not have foreseen but it reminds us whether in a crisis or in reconciliation, we
are all #InThisTogether2020.
