MENTORING AND SUPERVISION
Currently mentoring four tenure-track assistant professors and two tenured associate
professors in the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at UNT.
Assisted Dean Tsatsoulis in developing a faculty-mentoring program for the College of
Engineering at UNT. Organized Mentor Academy for the faculty mentors in the college
(2013, 2014).
Currently serving as the faculty mentor for Dr. Aleksandra Fortier (Assistant Professor,
Mechanical and Energy Engineering Department) at UNT (2013 – present).
Served as a faculty mentor for Dr. Mihai Burzo (Assistant Professor, Mechanical and
Energy Engineering Department) at UNT (2011 – 2013). He has recently relocated to the
University of Michigan, Flint, MI.
Currently supervising two FTE staff positions in the College of Engineering at UNT –
Graduate Recruiter and Retention Coordinator and Research Analyst II. In addition, I have
supervised two post-doctoral research scientists on funded grants at UNT.
Mentored junior faculty in the College of Engineering at TAMUK on research and
sponsored program activities. Oversaw a significant increase in proposal submission
and awards in the College of Engineering between 2004 and 2009.
Provided mentoring support and guidance to three NSF-CAREER award winners at
TAMUK – Dr. Jianhong (Jennifer) Ren (2004), Dr. David Ramirez (2009) and Dr. Yifang
Zhu (2009). Dr. Zhu was also a Young Investigator Award winner from the Health
Effects Institute.
Supervised to completion 3 Ph.D. dissertations, 30 M.S. theses and 20 M.S. graduate
research reports since 1995. Currently supervising one M.S., 2 Ph.D. and one

Texas Engineering Dean’s Annual Meeting (University of Houston, 2010 - 2014).
TAMUK
38. Coordinated and lead the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering’s faculty team
at TAMUK through Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) EAC
accreditation effort (2008-2009). I lead teams from four separate programs through
the development and submission of their ABET self-study reports. The programs
included Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and each program
ended up receiving full 6-year accreditation from ABET in 2010.
39. Coordinated and lead the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering’s faculty in
the Industrial Technology program at TAMUK through the Association of
Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE – formerly known as
NAIT) accreditation effort (oversaw the self-study report development and
submission and hosted the site visit by the external review team) (2008-2009). The
program received its accreditation in 2010.
40. Supported and enhanced ongoing fund-raising efforts worth over $100,000 for
scholarships within TAMUK’s College of Engineering through corporate programs,
and through alumni and small business donations (2007-2009).
41. Supported the Vice President for Institutional Advancement’s capital campaign
initiatives for the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering and participated in

several fund-raising events (2003 – 2009).
42. Initiated an Environmental Engineering Scholarship program funded by the CITGO
Corporation. Raised $20,000 of scholarship support for the Department of
Environmental Engineering over a four year period starting in 2000.

Provost Search Committee, Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering Dean Search
Committee, Director-Sponsored Program Search Committee, Regents Professor
Selection Committee, Graduate Council, Writing Across Campus Committee, College
