Latok V (6,190m), attempt. M otom u Omiya w ith two other com panions made his fourth attem pt on this unclim bed 6,190m sum m it, which stands at the end o f the southeast ridge of Latok III. Omiya, who made the first ascent o f Latok IV in 1980, attem pted V in 1999,2000, and 2003 via the South Face, reaching high on the m ountain on each occasion and in 2003 getting to w ithin 70 meters o f the sum m it. Last year he again reached 6,100m but failed to reach the highest point.
