Tiger Stripes Program

Incentive based program for Student Groups Comprised of four different packages that each offer different

rewards

Organizations are rewarded with additional benefits for their contributions to campus life through hosting events, community service and attending leadership training

Goals:

To have encourage leadership training for student organizations resulting in longer lasting student groups

To incentivize organizations for positively contributing to campus life

Page 5: “Learn Your Stripes” Student Group Leadership Summit Fall 2015 SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12 TH STUDENT ACTIVITIES AND STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION

How does the Tiger Stripes Program Work?

Each semester your organization will have the option to complete various requirements to receive associated rewards.

All requirements that are completed during the current semester will yield benefits for the FOLLOWING semester.

For instance, all of the requirements that your organization completes during this Fall 2016 semester, will yield you the associated benefits for Spring 2016.

Currently your organization is receiving benefits this semester based on the requirements that your organization completed in Spring 2015.

How can I find out what benefits my group has? Log onto Involved@TU and check the profile section of your organization’s page

Check out the google document here: http://bit.ly/TigerStripesFall2015

Be sure to check the current semester you are viewing at the bottom of the page

Page 6: “Learn Your Stripes” Student Group Leadership Summit Fall 2015 SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12 TH STUDENT ACTIVITIES AND STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION

What package is right for my organization?

Each semester your group can pick which rewards you are going to aim to receive

Pick the package that offers the benefits that best serve your organization

Have a discussion with your organization, or at a minimum your group’s officers, to develop a plan for achieving the package number that best suits your organization.

Do not wait until the end of the semester to start discussing this, have this conversation EARLY. Start NOW.

Interested in getting help picking the correct package? Attend the “Developing a Tiger Stripes Plan” during Session 2 in UU307.

Union Flyers can be posted in stairwells on clips (you can put up yourself), one per location/stairwell.

You can take down a flyer for another group’s event only if it has already happened

Copies given to the info desk to be put up on the bulletin boards

Guide for Student Organization posting

Page 20: “Learn Your Stripes” Student Group Leadership Summit Fall 2015 SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12 TH STUDENT ACTIVITIES AND STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION

Academic building posting policy examples:

For Center for the Arts flyer posting: Flyers must be approved by building coordinator: Heather Sorensen

You can send a copy in an e-mail [email protected] or drop a copy off at the box office with your contact information.

Flyers must include at a minimum: sponsoring group name; day, date, time and location of activity (when appropriate); Towson University and/or TU logo.

Posting areas: display rails throughout the building not on tack boards.

For Liberal Arts flyer posting: Flyers must be authorized to be posted by Teresa Jenkins either in person or e-mailed to her at

[email protected]

Flyers must bear the SGA stamp

You can hang them on the large cork bulletin boards located throughout the classroom hallways, in between the bathrooms and in the faculty office hallway near the lounge areas and ALS.

No taping to any surface or stapling to any surface

No hanging flyers outside of classrooms. Those spaces are for course cancellation notices.

You can remove flyers whose events have taken place, however, please don¹t post directly on top of the big posters or someone else¹s flyers.

Package 1 BenefitsElectronic Advertising

T3 - Information on how to submit can be found at the bottom of each T3 e-mail under "policy and procedures“

Used for announcement type posts (IE: Tickets now on sale...) not events

Master Events Calendar – events.towson.edu Listing of all events happening on campus

When submitting events: Location fields must both be filled out. As you begin typing the building name, it will appear. Select that, don’t type it

in. Be sure to put room number in the appropriate field.

A relevant picture should be used. The picture should be in some way related your group.

Department must be tselected. ALL SGA Groups should select “student government association” as the department. (This is probably the most important thing)

Student Groups should then select their group from the groups drop down. This step does NOT remove the need for step 3. If their group is missing, contact Greg Primrose.

Recurring events should be created using the recurring event function. Do not create individual events for recurring events. Specific details for creating recurring events are at he help website

A reminder that events.towson.edu policy is that submitted events must be physically attend able events. We do not accept submissions for things such as “fill out a survey.” There must be an actual event you can go to attend.

More information can be found: http://www.towson.edu/studentaffairs/infotech/eventstowson.asp

For more info about posting to the Master Event’s Calendar, attend Session 3 in UU306 to hear from Greg Primrose on how to best utilize this resource for advertising your organization’s events.

Package 4 RequirementsStudent Engagement Record (SER) Similar to a resume, your Student Engagement Record is a listing of all of your key experiences here at TU

Helpful for articulating what your experiences have taught you outside of your academic experience

Can be used as a supplemental document for job interviews or grad school applications

To update: Go to https://involved.towson.edu/ Log in, click on your name and select "Involvement"

From the Student Engagement Record tab you can select which experiences to show/hide

To add experiences, click on "Involvement" -> Experiences -> Add Experience

At anytime from your engagement record you can save it as a PDF or print

This is useful if you would like to highlight different experiences for different employers

To receive credit for this requirement, you must have two officers update their SER: Add your relevant experiences to your Student Engagement Record and save it as a PDF

Engagement records with solely organizational involvement will not be accepted

Have your other officer do the same and e-mail you a copy of theirs

Upload both of your Student Engagement PDF's to the following form: https://involved.towson.edu/form/start/72378

For a tutorial on how to update your engagement record and especially for those upperclassmen who will begin their job search after this year, consider attending the Student Engagement Record workshop during Session 3 to best learn how to utilize this resource.

Package 4 BenefitsEarly Room Registration (Spring only)

Annual room reservations in the spring are typically done on a first-come first serve basis

Groups allowed to request space for weekly meetings and one event each semester

Organizations receiving this benefit will have their room reservation submission time set back by 1 hour How this works: If room reservations typically open at 9AM

Your organization submits its room request at 9:30AM

ECS checks the list of organizations receiving package 4 benefits and moves your organization's request back by 1 hour (as though your request was made at 8:30AM)

Your organization receives its request prior to all organizations that requested at 9AM that are not recipients of package 4 benefits

This all but guarantees first choice of space for organizations looking to set meetings/events in the following year.

It is strongly encouraged that you periodically check your organization's status to ensure that you have received credit for those items you have completed

If you did not receive credit (an X on the above document) for something you submitted over two weeks prior, follow up with Chris Rindosh ([email protected]), Brittany Kauffman ([email protected]) or Mary Crowe ([email protected]) so that we can look into it.

At a minimum, please verify that you have all appropriate X’s before the corresponding deadlines below

December 7th Deadline and beyond

On December 7th Student Activities and SGA will go through each organization on the google document and assign a Tiger Stripes Package for Spring 2016 based on requirements completed This ranking should not be a surprise as you can view at anytime which

requirements you’ve completed
