IDL/TOPIC – Pirates Art Design your own treasure chest. Look at the picture of the treasure chest below to help you or you could try making one from an old shoe box like the picture. There is lots of ideas on Pinterest. Literacy and English Tasks How did you get on?

Monday

Reading - Read for enjoyment – You could try and find a book relating to our new ‘pirates’ topic. I have assigned some books on Epic!

Handwriting - Make sure you are sitting comfortably with both feet on the floor. Hold your pencil correctly and ensure your paper is straight on the desk in front of you. Write the days of the week out four times each. Remember to take care with the sizing of your letters and ensure all words sit on the line.

Tuesday Reading – Reading comprehension - Read the story about ‘Jake’s First Day’ below and answer the questions in your jotter.

Wednesday Spelling – Use the active spelling strategy LaSaCaWaC (Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check) to practise your words this week. at, yes, slug, arm, hard, scarf, card, are, all, farmyard *Challenge* Use two of your spelling words in a sentence.

Thursday Writing – Imagine you were a pirate for the day! Write a story and to tell me what you would do? (See the ‘If I Were a Pirate for the Day…’ sheet below to help you) You could include some of these ideas…

• Sail to sea with your pirate friends to set out on an adventure. • Would you captured any baddies, they make them walk the plank? • Would you climb up high into the crow's nest and look for land? • Find a map to discover treasure.

Friday Writing – Write a descriptive sentence about your week at home or email me a sentence about your week at home! Revise Common words - live, give, little, down, what, when Spelling test – Try getting someone at home to ask you your spelling words. How many did you get?

Wednesday Revise addition stories to 11 What 2 numbers add together to make 11? Lay this out in jotter like: 0 + 11 = 11 1 + 10 = 11… Remember 1 number in each square. Once you have completed this in your jotter, begin to go over them without looking. How many stories can you remember?

Thursday Money Lets learn about coins up to £2 Lay out coins (if possible) 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50, £1 and £2 Draw these coins in your jotter making sure you write their value on them. Look at coins in the house to help you identify them. Notice there are no coins for 3p, 4p, 6p, 7p, 8p or 9p etc… this means you have to add the coins we do have available. DISCUSS ●How can you make 4p? ●How can you make 25p?
