El pasado continuo es bastante similar al presente continuo, soloque en este caso hablamos del pasado. Indica que la acción o elhecho al que hacemos referencia estaba ocurriendo en esemomento: la frase ̈ She was working¨ señala que en aquel instanteal que se alude: ¨ Ella estaba trabajando¨. Veamos su uso y forma:

PARA TENER EN CUENTA
Los verbos cuyo infinitivo terminan en ¨e¨ como to live, soloañadimos ̈ d¨ (lived) (Vivió)
Lo que finalizan en consonante+vocal+consonante, como lapalabra plan, duplicamos la ultima letra (planned).
Los que terminan en ¨y¨ precedida por consonante, como tostudy, cambian la y por una ¨i¨ y colocamos ed al final (studied).(Estudió)
El verbo To be, además de ser irregular, no t iene una única formaverbal de pasado simple, como ocurre con el resto de irregulares,sino dos: was y were (Estuvo(e), Estuvieron)
Las contracciones (don´t, didn´t) suelen emplearse mas que todoen el lenguaje hablado. En cambio, en la escrita se utilizan muchomenos, ya que hacerlo supone elegir un registro bastanteinformal.
