RECITATION (21 - 27)

نح .21 اءح جنح لهقح ينح لح يح ذه اليححقحال ,And those who do not expect the meeting with Us say… وح

"Why were not angels sent down to us, or [why] do we [not] see our Lord?" They have

certainly become arrogant within themselves and [become] insolent with great insolence.

What do they think about themselves that they're demanding to see Allah, they're demanding to see

the angels!

22. The day they see the angels No good tidings will there be that day for the criminals. And

the angels will say, “Prevented and inaccessible”

Meaning now, you cannot run away, you cannot go back.

23. And we will regard what they have done of deeds and make them as dust Disbursed….

Those people who are not willing to listen to the word of the messengers; we learn in these أ يات that

they make various demands and also many excuses. One of them is, “That we should be able to see

the angels that you talk about, that if the angels come to you bringing revelation O Prophet, then we

want to see them also. And you say that there is a God, Allah, who created us, who have sent this

message to you, so we should see Him if you want us to believe in Him.”

Do we hear these kind of demands today also? Yes, there are people who will say, “OK if there is a

God I should be able to see Him and why does He have to try so hard to hide Himself? That if He's

really there, we should be able to see Him, so that we can believe in Him.”

The question is why do they say this? Are they really serious about these requests? Do they really

desire to see Allah? No, this is just their non-serious attitude, their pathetic attempts to lower the

messenger and his message by ridiculing him, by making fun of him. So these people Allah says they

should know that seeing Allah, the angels, what does it truly mean? Do they even understand what it

means? When is it that the angels will appear before them? At the time of death! At the time when

they will bring the punishment! When is it that they will be taken to Allah? On the Day of

Judgment, and that is the day when they will lose their freedom. That is the day when they will

know what is to be done with them.

Generally, what happens, people think, “When I do go to meet Allah when I am questioned, you

know, I'll give such and such reason as my justification for the wrong that I am doing. I have this as

an excuse I have that as an excuse.” And these are real people who actually say these kind of things.

“I'll say this to Allah I will say that to Allah.” Well, any person who thinks that they will present an

excuse like that to Allah تعالى و سبحانه , they will have the confidence to speak to Allah, they should

realize how serious that day is! Speaking to Allah is not like speaking to anyone else.

What happens to a person who is fully prepared and when they go to court to defend themselves,

what happens to them? They're not able to speak even. They refuse to speak. People who know how

to speak English, what do they say? “Can I have an interpreter?” Why? Because, they don't feel

confident. So imagine this is just a court in this world, just a court in this world where there is maybe

twenty thirty people maximum, in courts how many people are allowed? Maximum three hundred,

four hundred, if it's a really huge massive serious case, Right? But for an ordinary case what

happens? Just a few people, but still a person does not find the ability to speak confidently. Than

how can a person speak before Allah justifying his sins? So all such plans that people have made, “I

will say this I will say that,” all these plans will just die out that day, they will fizzle away. Near

Allah تعالى و سبحانه will blow them away into dust.

1The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, he said:

“I know of people from my ة who will come on the Day of Judgment with good deeds like that of امي

the Mountain of ة حامح …. ته

Now we have not seen the Mountain of the ة حامح but the word mountain should give us enough ته

understanding that good deeds that are many; many good deeds they will bring on the Day of

Judgment

… but Allah will turn them into scattered dust. Beware, they are your brothers, they are of your

skin….

تهكم لدح جه مه ….

Meaning they look just like you

… They take a portion of the night for worship as you do. But they are a people who when they are

alone they indulge in forbidden matters.

Meaning behind the backs of people they indulge in forbidden matters. They show that they are

living very righteous, very pious lives but in reality they're committing حرام and Allah sees the حرام

that they do. Whether it is حرام in financial matters or in terms of eating and drinking or anything

else. So this kind of person, even if he brings on the Day of Judgment good deeds like that of

Mountain of ةام ه ت the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, Allah will turn them into scattered dust.

So again, the fact is that we need to rectify our position near Allah تعالى و سبحانه . We need to be

honest with Him. And for that we need to be honest with ourselves.

Even in this life when a person is angry what do they do? They bite their fingers, they bite their

maybe one finger or fingernails. Sometimes people get so aggressive that they cut their hands

causing themselves to bleed. They cause themselves serious injuries. But we see that on the Day of

Judgment a person will bite his own hand not just his nails or fingernails, he's going to bite his whole

حفلا ….Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one as a

friend.

I wish I had not taken such and such person as a friend. These will be the two regrets! Firstly for not

being with the messenger. And if we look at our lives our sad reality is that in this life neither do we

really know the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, we don’t recognize him the way we should recognize him. We don't

understand his mission nor do we do anything for it. And sometimes our ways are completely

different from his ways. Our method, our way of life is completely different from his way of life.

What was he living for and what are we living for? What were his days and nights spent in? And

what are our days or nights spent in? If anything when we look at the نية we just look at the

superficial things. The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم wore that color, he sat over there, or he rode such and such

animal; these are the things that we look at. Yes, they're important when you love Rasoolallah صلى الله عليه وسلم.

But what we need to think about it, what was his way of life? How was he living? What was his

morning like that he spent his time in? How is it that he travelled? How is it that he ate? How is it

that he spent? How is it that he lived his رمضان? What do we want? The month of رمضان has come

and all classes should stop, and everything should come to an end, why? Because رمضان, has come

and we need to worship in the night and we need to sleep in the day.

Rasoolallah صلى الله عليه وسلم, what did he do in رمضان? We learn about the conquest of مة. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

left Medina in the month of رمضان and ten days journey, he made it to مة. And that was also in the

month of رمضان. In the month of رمضان he went into مة he conquered مة and then he did طاف and

then he broke over three hundred and sixty idols that were in around the كبة. And then the Prophet

حة he took صلى الله عليه وسلم over there, Rasoolallah مروة ,صفا went on صلى الله عليه وسلم ي from thousands of people. Can you بح

imagine meeting thousands of people in one day? How physically exhausting that would be? And

imagine Rasoolallah صلى الله عليه وسلم is doing this in the month of رمضان. In رمضان ,رمضان is meant to be busy.

That is how the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم lived his رمضان. But what do we want? That our life should be

extremely comfortable, everything should come to a stop so that we can worship Allah. And what

happens? We're spending more time eating and preparing food and sleeping and in our social

gatherings and our افطار parties than we are really spending in the worship of Allah سبحانه تعالى. So

really, we need to think that how close is my way of life to the way of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, to his life.

How close are they? What is it that he preferred for himself? And what is it that I prefer for myself?

And the fact is that no matter how much a person strives in a بهدعحة because بهدعحة; innovation is

something that contradicts the way of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم he never did it, he never practiced it, he never

Page 5: Lesson 19: Al-Furqan - An-Namldata.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran...Juzz # 19 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انب Ä Page 1 Lesson 19: Al-Furqan - An-Naml

taught it, it is not his way. So even if a person strives so hard in an act of innovation, remember on

the Day of Judgment it will bring no reward to a person instead it will be a source of regret for him.

2In a حدث, we learn the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“O people when I will wait for you at the ضه .…you will be brought in groups حح

Meaning, on the Day of Judgment the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم will reach the ثح ض كح ة before his حح and he امي

will wait for his ة :in order to receive them. What a leader he is! Hmm. So he said امي

…. you will be brought in groups,….

Meaning groups and groups of the people of Muslim ة will be brought امي

….But you will be separated by different paths….

Meaning, you will scatter away

…. And I will call you that come on this path toward me….

Meaning why are you going on that path? Come toward me! …

But a caller will call from behind me that these people changed the religion after you, So I will say,

قا لح سقا أ ح لح س

”!Stay Away, Stay Away ,أ ح

Meaning don't even come near me.

Such people will not be allowed to even go to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. Who? Those whose way of life is

different from the way of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم ’s life. So at that time a person will wish that he had been

on the path of the Prophet.

So what we need to do is we need to really study the نية we need to study first of all the life of the

Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم; how is it that he lived? How he lived, his days and nights what were they spent in?

Year after year, week after week, month after month what was he struggling towards? Was he just

struggling for example months in advance he's preparing to have his daughter married? Months in

advance he's preparing to have his house built? What were his struggles? What were his goals?

Where did his life go? We need to study that, we need to study the نية and then we need to compare

that with our lives, and see what is it that I am upon? Is it really that I am on the path of the prophet

or I am on the path of desires?

Secondly, we see that a person will regret on the Day of Judgment for having had bad friends, bad

company which is something that is a source of regret for a person even in this life, even in this

duniya. But on the Day of Judgment even more.

3The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“A good friend is like a perfume seller even if you don't get any perfume from him it's fragrance will

reach you for sure….

That if for example your friends they sell perfumes it's not necessary that every time you go to them

they will give you free samples, right? They might not give you. But definitely what you will

receive from them is good fragrance. Isn't that so? Meaning, you will at least receive goodness from

them. You will hear a good word. You will see a smile. You will hear positive words. This is how a

good friend is.

…..A bad friend is like a blacksmith….

Meaning a person who works with iron with the copper and such metals

…. even if you don't get any blackness from him.…

Meaning the blackness of the smoke. You know for example when you go to a car garage or

something, right? So what do you see people over there, are their clothes clean or their hands clean

as they're changing the tires and they're fixing the cars? No, their hands are dirty. So when you go

there, ok, you won't get any blackness on your hands on your clothes. But if you go there too often

what is it that you will find every time? Smell, bad smell. So:

...the smoke will reach you for sure….

Meaning, there will be times when you will hear nasty words bad words, words that are inappropriate

statements that are not correct.

So the fact is that our company definitely has an effect on us. And on the Day of Judgment a person

will regret, I wish I had not taken so and so as a friend of mine. This is why we must pay close

attention to these two matters. How strongly do I follow the نية and secondly, we really need to

watch our company. My friend; what is their language like, what kind of words do they use, what do

they complain about, what is their goal in life, what is their lifestyle like, who do they like, What is it

that they follow, who do they admire! Because their sins, we will begin to accept them. This is why

on the Day of Judgment, a person will regret.

expect them to accompany you, to be on your side, by your side. But what do we learn about شيطان?

That شيطان is a deserter to man. That in this life شيطان tells us disobey your Lord, don't pray, don't

fast, don't wear the حجاب. And what happens on the Day of Judgment? شيطان will desert a person. He

will desert him. A person disobeys Allah because of شيطان and on the Day of Judgment شيطان will

abandon him. And many human شياطین are like that also that they encourage a person to do

something wrong and then what happens? They leave, they abandon a person.

complain on the Day of Judgment that O my lord. ‘Indeed my people have taken this Quran as

a thing abandoned.’

Meaning they have left this Quran they have forgotten this Quran they have put this Quran behind

their backs.

And هجرا also means, they have made fun of it. Meaning instead of taking this word of Allah, this مح

message from the Lord of the world seriously, they have taken it as something to be amused by, they

just make fun of it and move on. They don't put the Quran in front of themselves, they put it behind

themselves.

4The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said that:

“The Quran is an intercessor and one whose intercession shall be accepted.…

Meaning, when you learn the book of Allah, when you read the book of Allah don't ever think that

you will suffer. This Quran, you to give it its حق, it will make sure you enter ة You give the .جني

Quran its حق with sincerity and this Quran will fight for you and make sure that you enter ة .جني

On the Day of Judgment, the Quran will come interceding that, “O Allah I kept this person thirsty I

kept him awake in the night, he used to recite the Quran in the night, this is why he couldn't sleep

much and in the day He would recite and be thirsty because of the Quran.” The Quran will come as

an intercessor. And the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

….It's intercession shall be accepted. It will argue on behalf of those who read it and it will be

confirmed….

Meaning what the Quran will plead for on the Day of Judgment it will not be rejected.

….Whoever places the Quran before himself, the Quran will lead him to paradise. And whoever

places the Quran behind his back, it will drive him to hell fire.”

Meaning, the Quran will not stop until it makes sure that this person falls into hellfire, who? The one

who puts the Quran behind him!

The fact is that there's only two ways of dealing with the Quran. Either we put it in front of us or we

put it behind us. Either we remember it or we forget it, either we give importance to it or we don’t

give importance to it, either we read it or we just put it away from life. These are two different ways

of life and these have two completely different outcomes. Therefore, let us decide to keep the Quran

in front of us always, always, that no matter what is going on in our lives, somebody’s born

somebody is graduating, you are graduating, you're studying, you have exams, you're working,

whatever, you're getting married, you're having children; whatever you're going through in life, the

Quran has to be in front of you. It has to be with you it has to be a part of your life because the fact

is that once you let go of this Quran and you put it aside then such a huge gap, such a huge distance

comes between you and the Quran that it's difficult to even hold the Quran again. It’s difficult to

even pick it up and read it again.

So the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم will complain on the Day of Judgment that; “O Allah my people left this

Quran.” This is why whoever has taken the Quran must take it for life. And whoever has not taken

the Quran should take the Quran. We should all think about having a continuous relationship with

the book of Allah. Even if it's just one أ ة daily that we read or we listen to and ـههحمد لهليح

these days ال

there are so many options all you have to do is just maybe join a Whatsapp group. You don't even

have to do any effort, Right? Just join the Whatsapp group, they will send you chunk of an audio or

something. You just play and listen as you're driving. You just play and listen as you're tidying up.

And the next thing you know ـههحمد لهليح

you increased a new understanding of the book of Allah. And ال

even if you had studied it once upon a time ـههحمد لهليح

.you are reminded of it ال

So this Quran is something that we need to hold onto otherwise the one who delivered this Quran,

the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, he will complain about us that, “O Allah I gave them the Quran but they left it, I

delivered the Quran but they left it. I gave them the Quran but they put it aside and they took other

things in place of the Quran. They gave priority to other things in their lives whereas they should

have been given priority to the book of Allah.” And this is something that is not small.

This is why this رمضان as you listen to the Quran, you read the Quran we are closer to the Quran

right, than as we are the rest of the year?

Make dua to Allah that, “Yaa Allah! Make the Quran easy for me, easy for me to read, easy for me to

hold onto, easy for me to remember, easy for me to live by. Make this Quran really the comfort of

was just information then learning it all in one go would have been sufficient. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

could have been given the Quran at once, that “Here is the Quran here take it and now, whenever you

whatever situation the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was in, relevant أ يات were brought to him and over a course of

twenty-three years the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم received the Quran. Then what do you think is it enough to just

read the Quran in one year and put it away for life? No, the Quran is for life, as long as we are living

the Quran should be a part of our lives because through the Quran we find strength, through the

Quran we find comfort.

A rain of evil! What was this rain? Of stone, death, destruction!

Because the one who remembers that one day he will be brought before Allah then for him these

examples are enough as warning.

Have you reflected on the state of the person whose God is what? His own desire! Meaning he who

obeys only his heart, follows only his desire. This is a kind of شرک also when the نفس becomes an

idol, when the heart becomes an idol. Just as the مشركین used to worship idols made of clay or

stones, some people, they obey their hearts. That whichever direction their heart takes them they

follow, whether it is حلال or حرام, whether it is permissible or impermissible, forbidden, doesn’t

matter their heart desires it they go for it. Allah says:

….Then would you be responsible for him?

Can you do anything for this person? Never!

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said that:

Page 11: Lesson 19: Al-Furqan - An-Namldata.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran...Juzz # 19 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انب Ä Page 1 Lesson 19: Al-Furqan - An-Naml

“Under the sky, of all the gods that are worshipped besides Allah, the worst in the sight of Allah is

the desire that is obeyed, the desire that is obeyed.”

Because this desire is going to be there - ءه لسي ة به ارحميحفسح لح ح نيح النيح (Surah Yusuf - 53) ا ه

But when this desire is obeyed, when a person cannot control it, when a person cannot refuse it, then

this desire becomes an idol. It becomes a false god and it is the worst false god in the sight of Allah,

the desire that a person pursues. It could be the desire of anything. But remember that جنية is

surrounded by things that are disliked by the نفس. 5The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“Hell-Fire is surrounded by all kinds of desires and passions. …. Hell fire not ة Hell fire is ...جني

surrounded by all kinds of desires and passions, while paradise is surrounded by all kinds of disliked

and undesirable things.”

Meaning if you want to go to ة you will have to do things that you don't like, that you find جني

difficult. And if you want to keep away from hellfire you will have to avoid things that you find

pleasure in. You will have to!

This doesn't mean that every desire is unlawful. No, the problem is when the desire becomes the

main priority, the goal; it becomes the idol that a person does not say no to himself. This is the

problem when a person does not say no to himself, when he doesn't control himself. That the heart

wishes that a person should eat but the month of رمضان demands that a person should fast, so when a

person cannot refuse himself that no, no and he refuses to fast then what is he doing? He’s following

his desire, he's worshipping his desire. That a person cannot control his smoking, his urge to smoke

and because of that he will leave fasting but he will not leave smoking. A person cannot leave their

coffee or their food that they enjoy so regularly or their lunch breaks or they cannot compromise on

their work and take a lighter schedule. So what happens? Their desire becomes their god because

they're not putting it under the command of Allah.

Remember anytime we want to do something and Allah تعالى و سبحانه wants us to do something else,

Allah order is something else, then we need to see what is it that I am doing? If we continue on our

way then this is a big problem. It means that our desire is our god. We don't take Allah as our لحه .ا هBecause if Allah was truly our لحه لحه if we really took him as our ا ه ,then we would say to our wishes ا ه

“No, not you, Allah, I will listen to Him.”

Just something small, a small example, we learned about رة النر about how a woman when she

wears a حجاب we should make sure that a part of her حجاب is on her chest covering her chest. But if a

woman thinks that know if I wear my حجاب like that it doesn't look that nice. I have to wear it in such

a way that it looks very stylish and for that I would even compromise on the command that Allah has

given, then this is what? Preferring the desire over Allah’s command! This is not worshipping

Allah, this is worshipping our desires. And we need to be honest with ourselves because we tell

وات وحجبت الجنة بالمكااه صلى الله عليه وسلمأن اسول الله 5 [2636:البخاای صحيح ] قال حجبت الناا بالش

ourselves a lot, “Oh I love Allah, I'm very sincere to Allah, I will do anything for Allah.” But then

what happens when the command of Allah comes? What happens over there, what happens when it

is time to pray and we're on our bed and we don't want to get out who is it that we listen to? Just

remember this حدث. If we are enjoying something too much and it's something that Allah dislikes,

He disapproves of then remember this is taking us to hell. Say that to yourself, “This is taking me to

hell.”

And if we are finding something very difficult and we know that Allah likes it, Allah has

commanded it but we're struggling with it, every moment that we're doing that we’re struggling with

it but we do it anyway, then what? Remind yourself that, “انشاء الله this is taking me to ة because I جني

am suppressing my desire, I am saying no to myself for the sake of Allah, I'm preferring Him.”

And Allah does not waste the effort of those who are patient. And you see this could be with regards

to anything. Music that a person enjoys, songs, anything! We need to see what is حرام and what is

what is it that Allah has forbidden and what is it that Allah has commanded, what is it that He ,حلال

has allowed.

6The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“How many a people there are who pursue their desires….

So many people who live this life pursuing what? Their desires!

….But they will have on the Day of Judgment nothing but hell. They will have on the Day of

Judgment nothing but hell.”

This is something very serious. Why? Because these people their concern was their desire. So we

must stop at limits that Allah تعالى و سبحانه have set for us.

Do you think that these clear verses, the words of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, they understand them, they hear

them? No! Many times it happens that we listen, we study, but then what happens? Our actions don't

change. We hear, we learn, we sit in a gathering and then what happens when we get up? We were

exactly the way we were before. We continue to do what we were doing previously. So, when the

actions do not change, when the actions do not transform then what does it mean? We didn't really

understand. Even if we have the information, we didn't truly comprehend it. And if we didn't

comprehend it then how are we different from these animals that Allah has mentioned over here?

45. Have you not considered your Lord - how He extends the shadow, and if He willed, He

could have made it stationary? Then We made the sun for it an indication.

Meaning because of the sun, how it moves through the day because of the rotation of the earth, the

position of the sun changes, what happens? The shadows also, they move. They increase, they

shorten, they move, their direction changes. All of this happens how? With the sun!

It's amazing how Allah تالو سبحانه provides light to us is so, so beautiful. If you think about it, the sun

could have been just like these lights that we have; in the morning switch on and in the evening

switch off. Just imagine how much our eyes would hurt. Hmm?

Has it ever happened that you go in a basement and after some time your eyes hurt? Why do they

hurt? Because the light is consistently the same. It is the same. And it's like it's in your face. But

when you're outside than what happens? The light, it changes, in the morning it's a different color, in

the afternoon it's a different color. In the evening as the sun is setting it's a different color. That Allah

comfort in it. You see these lights, yes they're providing us light but how many times you get

Allah تعالى و سبحانه has fulfilled our needs and He has also provided comfort for us. This is a sign.

who have the Quran: يرا بهادا كح هح ده بههه جه اهه جح .strive against them with the Quran, a great striving - وح

Against who? Against the enemy!

Notice the word جهاد over here. Allah is telling us to do جهاد with the Quran. How do you do جهاد?

is extreme effort, extreme effort that a person spares no moment or effort in his striving. And جهاد

secondly, he does it at a large scale; not a small effort but a great effort in which a person uses all his

abilities, all his resources. This is جهاد. And thirdly, that he strives at every front. Meaning,

wherever he is needed, he goes forward. This is true striving.

Allah is telling us to strive with the Quran. How? In receiving it that when you receive it, exert every

possible effort; strive properly and do your best. Not just an ordinary effort, a small effort but a great

effort in which you're using all of your abilities, all of your resources and then on receiving it also

spreading it passing it on to every corner every part of the world and use every way, every means to

make this Quran reach every human being on this planet because Quran is for everybody, not just for

us. And for this we have to exert tireless effort. We don't just try once but twice, three times, more,

even more if necessary. If a person doesn't listen one way, use a different methodology, use a

different technique. Why? The goal is people should have Quran. This is what Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was told

to do and this is what he did. He truly strove with the Quran a great striving, he did not rest. And it's

amazing that within twenty three years, what happened? What happened to Arabia? It was changed,

it was completely transformed. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم truly, he did جهاد with the Quran and he did it

really well.

You see the way people market their products. How do they do it? Hmm? How do they do it, is it

just one flyer, is it? No, there's a flyer, then there's a T.V. infomercial and then you're waiting for

that infomercial to please stop already, right? And it doesn't just come once but many times. Then

you get things in the mail. I mean, it's amazing how newspaper full of flyers, you know it's thrown at

your door, you don't even open it, you put it straight in the recycling, at least that's what I do. And

then, what happens? Before you know it, there's another pile of these flyers outside and these people

don't give up. I always wonder when the guy comes to deliver this mail doesn't he see that the

previous is still sitting outside. Why is he delivering it? Because if he doesn't, he won't get paid

right? And even though people know that most of the Flyers end up in garbage, still, still they put in

so much effort. Rain, snow, cold, hail, no matter what is going on, you see people delivering mail

promoting businesses. Have you ever come across people for like the hundredth time in the grocery

store asking you if you'd like a particular card and you tell them no thank you and then each time you

go to the grocery store they ask you again and again and again. This is what? They're promoting

their business. So we have made a deal with Allah تعالى و سبحانه as well:

ةح حنيحنيح لحهم ال

حهم بهأ

الح ح مأ ح هم وح نفسح

ینح أ ح نه ح المؤمه حى مه ح اشتح ح نيح اللهي (111 - رة التبة) ا ه

If we want to make it جنية, we have to pay the price. It's a two way street. Allah has purchased our

lives and our wealth. Why? So that we can have ة in the next life. Now this deal that we've made جني

with Allah, what does that demand from us?

يرا بهادا كح هح ده بههه جه اهه جح You promote this Quran through a beautiful way, every possible method - وح

whoever you can find. This was the حکم for the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, he did it and he did it really well. But

what is the ة doing? What are we doing? What am I doing? Is this really a priority for us that this امي

Quran that I benefit from, other people also benefit from it? I mean seriously, won't it be the height

of selfishness that we read the Quran, we enjoy it, we hear it, we understand its meanings and there

are people who are desperate to learn? And nobody's willing to help them. This is ظلم. What do you

think; Allah is not going to ask?

Page 16: Lesson 19: Al-Furqan - An-Namldata.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran...Juzz # 19 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انب Ä Page 1 Lesson 19: Al-Furqan - An-Naml

Don't we learn about that حدث that Allah will say to a person on the Day of Judgment that,

“I was sick, and you didn't come visit me. I was hungry, you didn't feed me.” And the servant will be

surprised that, “Yaa Allah You! How could you be sick? How could you be hungry?” And Allah will

say, “My servant was sick. If you had gone to him, you would have found me. My servant was

hungry. If you had fed him, you would have found me.”

And this is something that we really need to take seriously. There are people; we think people are

not interested in the Quran. People want to learn the Quran, they are desperate to learn the Book of

Allah but it is sad that we have received it but we just sit with it and day by day we are only

forgetting it. We are forgetting it! How are we going to face Allah تعالى و سبحانه ? We really need to

be honest with ourselves that what practical effort am I exerting, what am I doing to convey this

Quran? And this is not supposed to be an ordinary struggle. Why did you think it was meant to be

easy? It wasn't meant to be easy. Allah says جهاد and جهاد means you put in all your resources, you'd

die in this cause. And sometimes it happens that you go home and you feel like you're dead, you

don't have any strength left in you but it wasn't supposed to be easy anyway. Who said it was easy?

When you go to work to make a good amount of paycheck, it's not easy. You come home exhausted.

Don't you see your husband? When he comes home, how is he? Doesn’t he say he's tired, nobody

disturb me. He says that right? Because, making money is not easy. Making ة .is not easy either جني

يرا بهادا كح هح ده بههه جه اهه جح وح

So, we all need to check. What is my effort? What is my share in this? What am I doing to convey

the Quran?

53. And it is He who has released [simultaneously] the two seas, one fresh and sweet and one

salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and prohibiting partition.

The huge seawater! Imagine sea, how huge it is, right? When you stand in front of an ocean, its

massive but Allah says that in the sea there are springs or there are rivers that are merging into it, that

are coming into it. And these rivers or these springs they have sweet water. They are of sweet water.

And the sweet water and the salty water, they don't mix. You know that? They don't blend, they don't

merge and there's no visible barrier between them. You know like when you put water in oil in a

container, then what happens? The oil, it just comes to the surface, it rises to the surface. Why?

What is it that separating them? Is there like a barrier over there like a plastic seal or something? No

it isn't. Both are liquids but what happens? They keep away from each other. What a beautiful

example over here is given of the fact that sometimes a person is surrounded by a very toxic,

negative environment just like seawater. You know like seawater, can you drink even a sip of it?

No way, you cannot. And just like that a person is surrounded by a bitter, negative environment, but

he survives in the midst of it like sweet water. He stays sweet, he stays sweet. What happens to us?

We become bitter when others are bitter with us. Over here what is being mentioned? That water, it

can remain sweet, even if it is in the middle of salty water.

So, we need to see, am I salty or am I sweet? What am I like? People around me, how do they find

me, salty or sweet? Because every person has a taste, right? Meaning when you deal with them,

when you talk to them, when you spend time with them, they have a taste of their own. What am I

like? And also we need to see, that what happens to me when I go to a different environment? Do I

retain my identity? Do I remain myself? Do I hold onto my moral standard of patience of tolerance

This is the compensation, the wage of the prophet. What is that? Not money. What is it? That

people are connected to their Lord. They get to know Allah. They get to know the word of Allah

and this should be the compensation that we should be aiming towards. That when I tell somebody,

something about Allah تعالى و سبحانه , when I tell them something about the Quran, I don't expect

anything from them that they should become my best friends and then they should forever owe it to

me and that they should forever be good to me. No, or that they should pay me, they should give me

a good gifts, big gifts, because I am helping them. No, our goal is what? That when a person, whom

you're trying to convey the Quran to, he receives the Quran, you've received your compensation. You

have gotten your paycheck. Why? Because, once a person is guided through you, then you know

what Allah has in store for you? The likes of which do not exist in this world anywhere. Nowhere at

all because, when a person is guided through you, that is the best, the best reward that you can get.

So the prophets of Allah, they made it clear; we don't expect anything in return for you. All we want

70. Except for those who repent.... ح أ مح بح وح مح تحليح ا ....and he believed.... ا ه اله صح

حلا هلح عح عح وح

....and do righteous work. Then for them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good ones.

And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.

So if somebody has made any of these mistakes that are mentioned here, then what is it that he

should do? He should repent, believe and do righteous deeds. Ok repentance, that's understandable.

What does it mean by believing? Meaning, he should renew his faith. Why? Because ايان leaves

when a person indulges in these actions.

The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said that:

“The believer doesn't remain a believer when he's committing زن.”

Right? ايان leaves. Because ي اء ي اء are together; when ايان and ح is the height of زن will go, and ح

immodesty, قتل is also the height of immodesty, then what will happen? ايان will also go.

In a حدث we learn that once a person asked the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم that, “By accident I swore by لت and

ى عزي .”

ى and لت were idols. Meaning, we should only swear by Allah, Wallahi". But this man, thisعزي

companion, he made a mistake. Perhaps this was something that he was used to from before

accepting Islam. So the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“say لحي هح ا هلح ا هي لح ده

ء قح ي شح ح كه ح عح ه حمد، وحلحه ال كح لحه، لحه الملك وح ه

ه لح شرح حدح الله وح ….Say that, and spit three times to your left. Seek refuge with Allah from شيطان and do not do that

again.”

So you see, even if by accident شرک happens, a person commits شرک or زن ,قتل; these sins, I mean,

people are people they're human beings. Nobody is perfect. But, if a sin happens what do we learn?

ح أ مح بح وح مح تحليح .Renew your faith, refresh your faith - ا ه

And: ا اله صححلا هلح عح عح وح - Increase in righteous deeds now. Replace those sins with good ones.

And the fact is that when a person turns to Allah repeatedly, making توبة. Crying over his sins again

and again, not only do his sins get washed off but with his increased servitude, he's also earning good

deeds. So Allah will replace the sins with good deeds.

And for this they are rewarded immensely.

A person once came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and he said:

"Yaa Rasoolallah, what do you think of a man who did every single sin and did not leave any sin

whatsoever. And he did not leave any desire big or small except that he fulfilled it.”…

He did it, everything! He wanted to do it; he did it, he didn't care about anything he just cared about

his desire.

….The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم asked him, “Did you accept Islam?”…

Note that he said, did you? Because, the man is talking about himself

…He said, “As for me I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship besides Allah. He is

one and has no partners and you are the messenger of Allah.”

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Do good deeds and leave sins and Allah will turn all your sins into good

deeds."

[And the man, he was so amazed.]

He said, 'Yaa Rasoolallah, even my betrayals and my immorality?

[Like my indecent action?]

The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Yes, if you leave them and you replace that time with good deeds. Allah will

convert the sins into good deeds.” The man said, “Allahu Akbar ! Allahu Akbar!” And he left saying

Allahu Akbar!

And this توبة when it is sincere, then yes, Allah will turn the sins into good deeds.

We learn that Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“Some people will wish on the Day of Judgment, that they had committed more sins.

It was said, “Why O messenger of Allah?

He said:

اليحThose people who sins will be converted into good deeds because of their repentance they will wish

It doesn't mean that we should strive to commit sins. No, this is for who? The person who does

sincere توبة and on the Day of Judgment Allah with His mercy accepts his توبة and He will turn his

sins into good deeds.

constant struggle. It's a war, it's a battle that a person is facing every day of their life. So, they pray,

14. And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin....

Musa عليه السلام is saying send Haroon عليه السلام. Why? Because the people of Fir’awn, they have a

claim against me. Meaning I am guilty in their eyes. Why? Because I accidentally killed one of

them. Musa عليه السلام accidentally killed a man from the people of Fir’awn.

....so I fear that they will kill me."

This is very natural! When you have to tell somebody about something good, what do you do first?

You remember your own sins, your own mistakes that I'm in no position to tell other people who am

I? There's no way I can tell them to pray when my prayers are not perfect. I can’t tell them to be

patient when I don't exhibit patience always, who am I? I make so many mistakes then how can I tell

others? I have no right to advise others.

You see each person is a human being, no one is perfect. Musa عليه السلام is also remembering his

mistake. Allah is sending him to Fir’awn and Musa عليه السلام is saying but I committed a murder

over there, I'm very sinful in their eyes and I've also made a huge mistake so this is a part of me. The

fact is that every human being has deficiencies. No one is perfect but at the same time conveying the

word of Allah is also an obligation. So what should a person do? You should rely upon Allah and

seek Allah’s help, ask Allah to give the ability and go ahead and do the job and with the blessing of

this work, Allah تعالى و سبحانه will also forgive the sins and give you the ability to refrain from sins.

Refrain from sins also.

21. So I fled from you when I feared you....

How truthful and honest Musa عليه السلام is. I was afraid of you Fir’awn, that's why I ran away. He's

pretend that oh we have no deficiencies we are perfect because we don't want to be vulnerable. But

Meaning, this is Allah’s favor on me. His responses are also beautiful; this is why Allah chose Musa

:went onto Fir’awn, he said عليه السلام Musa .عليه السلام

22. And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of

Israel?"

Meaning, you remind me that I have lived with you when you took care of me. Why was that in the

first place necessary anyway? How and why did I end up at your house? Because you had enslaved

the children of Isra’eel. You were killing their children. I was to be killed. And the only way I was

going to be saved was if I was in your own house. So Allah put me in your house. So don't do this as

a favor on me, this was your own doing, this was your own fault. Now Fir’awn is speechless so:

ن .23 رعح فهحقحال ….Fir’awn said, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"

Again Fir’awn is looking for something with which he can make Musa عليه السلام get upset, annoyed,

irritated so he said: ینح مهالح ح ال بي ا رح مح وح - What is this ینح مه

الح ح ال بي عليه السلام you're talking about? Musa رحcame and said very simple words; send the Bani Israel, don't torture them and Fir’awn is jumping

from one thing to the other. It's like as if he's looking for anything by which he can overcome Musa

,he didn't say, “Get to the point.” He didn't say to him, “Stop avoiding ,عليه السلام Musa .عليه السلام

what I have told you.” Rather he just gives him the answer. Very beautifully, he says:

If somebody were to call us, mad, what would we do? We’d forget what we have to say to them and

Fir’awn gets mad. He gets angry.

Meaning if we win against Musa do we get anything? It's amazing. The prophets of Allah, what did

What have we been taught to do?

We should say: عذةه أ ح زحي ه تههه به قدرح ه وح اللهحي

Especially when? When we are hurting. When we are hurting.

8You know there's a حدث in which we learned Usman عثمان ابن عبد الاص الثقفي رضی الله عنه, he said:

“I came to the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and I was suffering pain that was killing me.”

Have you ever experienced pain like that? You feel like it's going to kill you!

The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said to me

Because the magicians understood.

47. They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,

48. The Lord of Musa and Haroon."

49. [Fir’awn] said, "You believed in Musa before I gave you permission....

Look at the arrogance of this man!

....Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic....

First he called Musa عليه السلام under the effect of magic or magician. He said you are a liar, you are

madman and now he’s saying that all these people have been under your tutelage you have been

teaching them magic.

....but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides,

and I will surely crucify you all."

Look at this threat. Who is it that threatens? If you don't do this then such and such will happen.

Who? Losers! Those who cannot win the hearts of other people, who cannot have others obey them,

listen to them, then what happens? They begin to threaten.

So if you find yourself threatening your children a little too much, realize that you are failing because

threatening is not the way. It's not the way, right now they're scared of the “boogey monster”

Tomorrow they’ll know there is no “boogey monster” so this is not the right way of teaching

children. Anyways, Fir’awn threatened them. What was the response of the magicians?

50. They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.

51. Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the

believers."

What an amazing thing ايان is? As soon as a person has ايان, he sees his mistakes his sins. And he

wants that they should be forgiven. How long had it been for these people since they accepted Islam,

since they believed in Allah? Few moments probably and immediately they're saying:

نح اياح طح ا خح نح بي ا رح رح لحنح ن حغفهع أ ح نيح نحطمح نا ه

ینح أ ح نه المؤمهحل ويحا أ ح كنيح

52. And We inspired to Musa, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be

pursued."

You see the Bani Israel, they were enslaved. They lived in Egypt and they were a significant

population so for everyone to leave together in the night secretly, this was huge.

53. Then Fir’awn sent among the cities gatherers

54. [And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,

55. And indeed, they are enraging us,

56. And indeed, we are a cautious society... "

57. So We removed them from gardens and springs

58. And treasures and honorable station –

59. Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.

Why? How? Because Fir’awn and his people:

60. So they pursued them [Bani Israel] at sunrise

In the morning they woke up, they found out Bani Israel had gone and immediately Fir’awn gathered

his people and they pursued the Bani Israel.

61. And when the two companies saw one another....

Because what happened? As the Bani Israel left, they found before them the sea. Now, what do they

do? They're stuck and behind them Fir’awn has also come so:

....the companions of Musa said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"

62. [Musa] said.... ينه ده يهح ح ه بي ح رح عه مح

نيح ا هح ي کلاح ....He said...."No, Indeed, with me is my Lord; He

will guide me."

He will guide me! Whenever you see a closed door in front of you, you see an ocean in front of you

that you cannot cross, that you cannot go into. You don't know what to do, where to go, say:

ينه ده يهح ح ه بي ح رح عه مح

نيح ا هح ي .He will guide me - کلاح

63. Then We inspired to Musa, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each

portion was like a great towering mountain.

Musa عليه السلام threw the stick and where it landed, a clear path appeared as the water cleared to

either side.

64. And We advanced thereto the pursuers.

So the Bani Israel, they crossed the sea and behind them, who came? Fir’awn and his people.

65. And We saved Musa and those with him, all together.

66. And Then We drowned the others.

Because they ran into the water chasing the Bani Israel, but what happened? What happened? The

water closed in on them and they all drowned.

This is the sound heart and this is the person who will be safe on the Day of Judgment. Look at your

own heart; do I have in my heart any bad feeling, any hidden hatred, any grudges, jealousy for

anybody? Perhaps we cannot see it because when something gets really, really dirty it's difficult to

see the filth on it, even. Think, who do I talk bad about? Whoever I backbite, that means I dislike

them, I do not like them. And backbiting is something that will contradict قلب ليم. You see,

keeping the heart clean, sound is a very, very big جهاد. It's a very big effort, it’s a great struggle. And

it's a struggle for life. It's not something that a person can do once and he can say now my heart is

sound. No. Because we interact with people on a regular basis don't we? We get upset, we get

offended, we get hurt. But the sound heart is of the one who cleans his heart, keeps forgiving others

and hopes that he will be forgiven.

Nuh عليه السلام or any other prophet; the first people to believe in the prophets were who? The poor

and the weak! And this is something that increased their status because with ايان, a person’s status

is really high near Allah. It doesn't matter how poor he is, how weak he is physically, No. The real

honor comes with ايان.

However, people who are superficial, what do they look at? Just the superficial! So we see that every

prophet, he faced this criticism from his people that, “Why is it that the poor are following you? And

if you want us to come and listen to you then get rid of these poor people from your gatherings.”

So Nuh عليه السلام said, “No, I cannot do that because they are believers.” And in this is a lesson for

us that we really need to look past the skin of others, the clothes, the physical appearance; we need to

appreciate the character of people. We need to appreciate their sincerity, their efforts, their actions

and get past these physical barriers that we have placed.

116. They said, "If you do not desist, O Nuh, you will surely be of those who are stoned."

Again, we see people are threatening the prophet of Allah.

Meaning your role models, your leaders should not be those who cause corruption. They should be

who? Those who do اصلاح. You see, every prophet warned against corruption whether it was the

corruption of the morals, the values of people, their ethics, their way of living, their crimes, their

business. So the prophets warned their people against فساد. Why? Because فساد is very dangerous!

14

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“Should I inform you of a deed that is more superior than صلاة, fasting and زكاة?”

Can you imagine, fasting is so difficult these days, right? And you hope that انشاء الله the reward is

also going to be great انشاء الله. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “A deed that is better than this, “Superior”,

superior in the sense that it will bring more reward. So the صحابة said, “Yes.”He said:

ینه “ اته البح صلاحح ذح ا هAmending that which is between people”

Meaning fixing their relationships, when they have fights, when they have arguments; solving those

brother. It is said put both of them off until they are reconciled. Delay their matter they are not to be

forgiven until they solve what is between them.”

So you see, this فساد between people, this is very dangerous. So check yourself; have I fought with

anyone? Is there any person that I'm not talking to? I'm angry with them because I fought with

them? So I'm not their friend anymore? You know like little girls say I'm not your friend anymore.

Maybe we have also said something similar perhaps in our hearts I’m not your friend anymore. Allah

Islam, then, “I don't know you and you don't know me. Don't call me. I don't know who you are what

if you're a criminal.”

And if a person like this, if they want to marry a person who was born Muslim, may Allah help them

find a spouse. Why? Because what if they had a girlfriend? What if they had a boyfriend? What if

they were like this? That is all history! Allah is telling the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم those who believe in you, be

good to them, be kind to them, be extra caring for them, love them. Because if you don't love them, if

you don't support them, who will support them?

We learn that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, he was very, very kind hearted, and whenever anybody would come

to him, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم would give him something or at least he would promise that he would give

them something if he could. Once the اقامة was pronounced and a man came. اقامة is pronounced,

what does it mean? Now the rows have been formed and a man came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم he said,

“Ya Rasool Allah there's something that I need your help with. Can you please come? Can you

please come? I need you right now and I'm afraid that if you don't come right now I'll forget

afterwards.” So the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم went with him and he solved his problem for him. And then he

came back and then he prayed. This is after اقامة, imagine. And there are numerous stories like this

that we learn about, in بخاری also, about how the Prophet اقامة صلى الله عليه وسلم is pronounced, people are waiting.

But there's somebody who's sitting with the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم with their problems, they're talking to him

and the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم is listening to them.

“It is better for a man to fill the inside of his body with pus than to fill it with poetry.”

This is a حدث from بخاری. It is better for a man to fill the inside of his body with pus than to fill it

with poetry. You see poetry at that time, was what? It was the entertainment of that time. You can

equate that with the songs and music of this time. The song and music industry, movies and all of

that, right? Because sometimes people are very proud of this that, “Have you have seen that movie?

Yeah I have seen it, yeah I have seen that too. I went to the theater to watch that. Yeah I've seen that

one too. Name a movie; just quiz me on any movie I'll tell you which one I haven't seen.” And there's

none, right? People are so proud about it. When it comes to music also, ‘Yeah I've got that album,

I've got that album.’ The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “It is better for a man to fill the inside of his body with

pus than to fill it with this kind of poetry” Why? Because don't you see these poets, these people

Meaning this industry, when it comes to poetry, these kinds of arts, all right, they're not all bad. Yes,

Allah سبحانه تال has set limits for us. He has set limits for us, He's told us what حلال is, what حرام is.

This entire art is not evil. When is it good? When it is used with اله ,ايان حل صح - of Allah ذکر much ,عح

This Quran is not the word of a man who himself is ignorant, No. This is the word of the Lord of the

This was when Musa عليه السلام was traveling with his wife, they had left مدين, and it is said that they

Musa عليه السلام saw a fire on a mountain.

see he is a husband; such a good husband, responsible man, taking care of his family, being

concerned about their needs.

Musa عليه السلام got scared because imagine if you see a snake slithering towards you it's quite

frightening. So Musa عليه السلام turned in fright, he ran away he did not even return.

....[Allah تالو سبحانه said], "O Musa, fear not. Indeed, in My presence the messengers do not

fear.

Why are you afraid?

11. Otherwise, he who wrongs, then substitutes good after evil - indeed, I am Forgiving and

Merciful.

Meaning yes, if someone has done something wrong, they have a reason to be afraid. And yes, We

know you've done something wrong in your life; you killed a man accidentally. However, you

changed the bad with the good. And this is such a beautiful lesson we learn from this. You see when

you think about meeting Allah, yes you're happy about it, but does it frighten you? Does it frighten

you? Of course it does, right? What's the fear? Allah knows me and He knows all the mistakes I

make, the sins that I keep doing over and over despite trying, I keep failing. I do things in privacy,

nobody knows. Allah knows and Allah knows what I feel in my heart. So yeah, I want to see Allah

18The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, he said that:

What does it mean that the angels lower their wings? It means either that the angels they come down,

You see the moon, what is the moon compared to the rest of the stars? Sometimes you don't even

see the stars but you definitely see the moon. Likewise a person who has knowledge, his superiority

over the worshipper is like that. Think about it when you go to the mall; who prays for you? Do the

birds pray for you? Do the ants pray for you? Do the fish pray for you? No, but when you go to learn

the دين, then what happens? All of this creation prays for you. So we should be greedy for what will

benefit us eternally.

20

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“Indeed this world is cursed, what is in it is cursed, except for the remembrance of Allah. And what

is conducive to that; the knowledgeable person and the learning person.”

Everything else; full of problems, full of problems, these are the only things which are free from

problems. What are they? Remembrance of Allah and anything that is conducive to that; the

knowledgeable person and the person who is learning. So Sulaiman عليه السلام, Dawood عليه السلام, they were grateful for the knowledge that Allah gave them.

16. And Sulaiman inherited Dawood. He said, "O people, we have been taught the language

of birds....

Imagine; they knew the language of the birds. If we know other human languages, we become so

proud of it.

....and we have been given from all things. Indeed, this is evident bounty."

What is Sulaiman عليه السلام doing over here? Sulaiman عليه السلام is basically talking about the

blessings that Allah has given him and his people, and he's mentioning these blessings before the

people because: ث ه حديحبيهكح ف ةه رح مح ا بهنه

ميحأ ح (11 رة الضحى) وح

Talk about the blessings that Allah has given to you. This is what brings gratitude, this is part of

gratitude.

17. And gathered for Sulaiman were his soldiers of the jinn and men and birds....

What a huge army he must have had. Imagine, men, Jinn, birds.

....and they were [marching] in rows.

It was not a random crowd. There were so organized.

18. Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, "O ants, enter your

dwellings that you not be crushed by Sulaiman and his soldiers while they perceive not."

How big is a valley of ants? It’s quite small, but imagine an ant, it sensed the army approaching so it

warned everybody get inside because you might get stepped on and Sulaiman عليه السلام and his

people, they wouldn’t even know.

Because Dawood عليه السلام was also gifted.

....and to do righteousness of which You approve....

This should be our concern and wish; we strive to please people, parents, husband, friends. We also

strive so much to please our children, do they get pleased? One moment they're happy and the next

moment, I want this and if I can’t have it I'm not your friend.

So we see that Sulaiman عليه السلام, he says: اه ضح تح ا اله عحلح صحن أ حح أ ,give me the ability to do that which - وح

You O Allah, will be happy with.

....And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants."

Yusuf عليه السلام asked for the company of the righteous, Ibrahim عليه السلام asked for the company of

the righteous, Sulaiman عليه السلام is asking for the company of the righteous, even though they

themselves were righteous. Because good company enables you to keep doing good. So this should

be one of our Du’as. Sulaiman عليه السلام is basically asking Allah “O Allah, keep me grateful. Keep

me grateful.”

What we see over here also is something about the ants that how the ant, it recognized Sulaiman عليه coming and it recognized the prophet of Allah. If an ant can recognize a prophet of Allah, then السلام

how are the people who don't recognize the prophet of Allah?

21

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم he said that:

An ant bit a prophet amongst the prophets and that prophet had that place of the ants burnt. And

Allah inspired to him “It is because of one ant that bit you that you burned a nation amongst the

nations that glorify Allah!”

Ant colonies are what? Nations that glorify Allah تالو سبحانه . I'm sharing his حدث with you because I

know where we live there are a lot of ants in Mississauga in Toronto area. Many ants in your garden,

in your front, you will find ants, and our mission is to somehow get rid of those ants. The fact is that

you can never eliminate ants, you know that? You can never eliminate them, but what you can do is

when you see an ant you say, “O look an ant, you glorify Allah, I glorify Allah. You got your own

space go away. Please go from here.” And do something that the ants don't come inside but don't

start killing them. That is dangerous, because you are killing creation that glorifies Allah.

20. Sulaiman عليه السلام took attendance of the birds and said, "Why do I not see the hoopoe...

the Hud Hud ….or is he among the absent?

21. I will surely punish him with a severe punishment or slaughter him unless he brings me

clear authorization."

Look at how vigilant Sulaiman عليه السلام is; one bird is missing and he says better bring a good

reason.

22. But the hoopoe stayed not long and it said, "I have encompassed [in knowledge] that

which you have not encompassed, and I have come to you from Saba with certain news.

23. Indeed, I found [there] a woman ruling them, and she has been given of all things....

Great Throne."

Because the bird was impressed by the throne of the queen, and so he says, “Allah’s throne is the

greatest”.

27. [Sulaiman] said, "We will see whether you were truthful or were of the liars.

Amazing; Sulaiman السلامعليه does not just accept the story of the bird. He says, “I will confirm.

28. Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them. Then leave them and see what [answer]

they will return."

Sulaiman عليه السلام, the moment he finds out about these people, what is he doing? He is sending a

letter to them. And what is this letter? It’s basically an invitation to worship Allah alone, all right.

It's amazing; the moment he finds out about some new people, he's concerned about doing دعة to

them. When we get to know new people what is our concern? What do we ask about? What is our

concern generally? How we can benefit from them. Perhaps they can tell me about some guy who

my sister can get married to, right? Or maybe they know about somebody who can get me a job

somewhere. This is what our concern is generally. But Sulaiman عليه السلام, what is he concerned

about? Their ايان.

29. She said,….

The Queen, when the letter was delivered to her, She said:

Page 61: Lesson 19: Al-Furqan - An-Namldata.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran...Juzz # 19 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انب Ä Page 1 Lesson 19: Al-Furqan - An-Naml

submission[Meaning] as Muslims.'

32. She said, "O eminent ones, advise me in my affair [what should we do?] I will not decide a

matter until you witness [for] me."

Meaning you will have to be part of this decision-making, I'm not going to decide this myself.

Should we listen to Sulaiman or should we raise our weapons against him?

Look at how she's taking their advice. You see those who take شري they have helpers and those who

don't take شري, who don't take advice of other people, then they remain alone.

33. They said, "We are men of strength and of great military might, but the command is

yours, so see what you will command."

Meaning if you would like to fight Sulaiman we can do that, we can go to war with him, but if you

don't want to do that, that's also your decision. Whatever you decide, we accept.

Look at the trust that these men have in their queen. Why? Because she consults them, she discusses

things with them, she gives importance to them. And the fact is that the one whom you give

importance to, even if he has something, even if he's supposed to be greater than you but he's not, he

will still respect you. Because sometimes it happens that, for example, husband and wife; the

husband doesn't have a job for quite some time but the wife has, or the wife has a lot of money and

the husband doesn’t, it's possible. Or the husband constantly feels threatened by the fact that my

wife is too beautiful, right? So if she respects him, then he will also respect her. It is not possible

that you give importance to someone and they don't feel appreciated and valued around you. So:

34. She said, "Indeed kings - when they enter a city, they ruin it and render the honoured of

its people humbled. And thus do they do.

Meaning the outcome of war is never good. There are so many casualties.

35. But indeed, I will send to them a gift and see with what [reply] the messengers will

return."

Meaning I’ll send them to gift to see what is it that Sulaiman really wants? Does he actually want

me to accept Islam? Believe in Allah? Leave this idolatry? Or is it that he just wants to take over

my people and my country? So I'm going to send a gift and see what happens.

Page 62: Lesson 19: Al-Furqan - An-Namldata.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran...Juzz # 19 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انب Ä Page 1 Lesson 19: Al-Furqan - An-Naml

36. So when they came to Sulaiman, he said, "Do you provide me with wealth? But what

Allah has given me is better than what He has given you....

He's not showing off over here, he’s just saying that I’ve already got enough, I don't need this

money. “I didn’t send a letter to you in order to take your money, I am doing دعة to you.”

....Rather, it is you who rejoice in your gift.

Meaning I have no need of it.

37. Return to them, for we will surely come to them with soldiers that they will be powerless

to encounter, and we will surely expel them therefrom in humiliation, and they will be

debased."

38. [Sulaiman عليه السلام] said, "O assembly [of jinn], which of you will bring me her throne

before they come to me in submission?"

So basically, eventually, the queen, she decided that she was going to go with her people, they were

going to accept Islam, they were going to believe in Allah but Sulaiman عليه السلام wanted to show it

to these people that you are not making a bad decision, that you have made the right decision and for

that, he had to show to them the power of, he had illustrated to them his own power. So he said that,

“O assembly of the jinn! Who can bring me her throne before she gets here?”

39. A powerful one from among the jinn said, "I will bring it to you before you rise from your

place, and indeed, I am for this [task] strong and trustworthy."

You can trust me with it I can do it. What did he say? I can bring it to you before you rise from your

place. Can you imagine; you're sitting and then you stand up; how long will it take you? Three, four

seconds, maybe five seconds maximum. Or if your back is really hurting and your knees are hurting,

you've been sitting for a while it will take a few seconds longer. But what happened?

40. Said one who had knowledge from the Scripture, "I will bring it to you before your

glance returns to you."....

Glance returns to you, meaning when you look, you open your eyes, you see something and then you

understand what it is, do you get it? You set your eyes on something and you perceive it; this is your

glance returning to you. How long does it take? Split second! So this one said that I can bring it to

you that quickly and he did because Sulaiman عليه السلام allowed him. Now this is a miracle of the

Book of Allah, because who is this person? Is it a human being? Is it an angel? Is it a Jinn? Allahu

Aalam, we don't know who it was, but what we do know is that: ابه تح ه ح ال لم مهي ه عه ندح عهWhat made him special was the knowledge that he had of the Book of Allah. Knowledge is power.

Page 63: Lesson 19: Al-Furqan - An-Namldata.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran...Juzz # 19 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انب Ä Page 1 Lesson 19: Al-Furqan - An-Naml

.....And when [Sulaiman] saw it placed before him, he said, "This is from the favor of my

Lord.... كفرم أ حر أ حشأ حنه أ ح ح

ا مه فح ذح He is testing me whether I am grateful or I.... هح

am ungrateful. And whoever is grateful – then his gratitude is only for [the benefit of] himself.

And whoever is ungrateful - then indeed, my Lord is Free of need and Generous."

You see over here Sulaiman عليه السلام, again he realizes this is a test. Allah is watching me, do I

become grateful, or do I become ungrateful? The fact is that we have to be grateful always, always,

all the time. Even if it's just a little that we have. 22

Because the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“ ح

ل لهيلح مح ر القح يحش يرح لح ثه

حر ال

يحش

Whoever is not grateful for a little, he can never be grateful for a lot”

So Sulaiman عليه السلام, we might say that o he had so many things why should he not be grateful?

Well the fact is that the one who is grateful for little things, only then he can be grateful for big

things. And on receiving a blessing immediately thank Allah. And this is what we see in Sulaiman

the ant incident happened, he's being grateful. Here, the throne is bought and he's being ,عليه السلام

grateful.

23

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said that:

“Allah does not bestow a blessing upon any slave, and he says, ه مد ل لـ except that what He gives is الح

better than what he receives”

Meaning, what the person said ه مد ل لـ ه saying ,الح مد ل لـ is better than what you received. But this is الح

when? Immediately on receiving something good.

ا .41 هح ا عحرشح روا لحهح هي نحح He said, "Disguise for her, her throne; we will see whether she.… قحال

will be guided [to truth] or will be of those who is not guided."

So he wanted to test them; if they were just superficial. Because when a person sees only the

apparent, what does that show? He’s superficial. But when a person really observes and recognizes

things then it shows that yes, he's far sighted.

42. So when she arrived, it was said [to her], "Is your throne like this?" The Queen said, "[It

is] as though it was it."....

So she recognized throne despite the fact that it had been changed. What does it show? She was

really wise. And women should never underestimate themselves, they should use their mind, they

should use their عقل. Because look at this queen; she's so wise, intelligent.

That is the only reason why she was a مشركة; because the moment she learned about the truth she

accepted it and there are so many people like that who are living in ignorance of Allah and that is

why they are disbelievers. So who's going to tell them? Who’s going to tell people like her?

44. She was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water

Why? So that her clothes wouldn't get wet.

punishment. So he said to them why are you being impatient for evil? You should ask Allah for

good. Why don't you seek forgiveness?

47. They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen

is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested."

Generally, what happens is that in our life when we face problems, we begin to blame people who

are around us that since they have come, I have become sick. Since this child was born, there have

been problems in our life, in our family. Or since this person came to our house as a guest, there have

been problems in our family. No, our omen, bad omen; meaning bad that happens, happens by whose

will, whose permission? Allah تعالىو سبحانه ’s permission and that is a result of what? Our own

deeds! So:

.…Rather, you are a people being tested.

48. And there were in the city nine family heads causing corruption in the land and not

amending [its affairs].

Leaders were creating or causing corruption.

49. They said, "Take a mutual oath by Allah that we will kill him by night, he and his family

[Meaning Salih عليه السلام] Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction

of his family [Meaning we will lie] and indeed, we are truthful.' "

So basically they're saying that kill him and the next day just make up a lie that we didn't do it, we

don't know who did it, and just say we are truthful.

50. And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not.

51. Then look how was the outcome of their plan - that We destroyed them and their people,

all [of them].

When they plotted to kill the prophet, what happened? Instead they lost their lives.

52. So those are their houses, desolate because of the wrong they had done. Indeed in that is a

sign for people who know.

53. And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allah.

54. And [mention] Lut, when he said to his people, "Do you commit immorality while you are

seeing?

55. Do you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people

Because when a person blindly pursues his desires, then he is being ignorant.

56. But the answer of his people was not except that they said, "Expel the family of Lut from

your city. Indeed, they are people who keep themselves pure."

They mocked at them saying, “O you are very pure.”

57. So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; We destined her to be of those who

remained behind.

58. And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were

Praise for Allah and Allah’s لام, His peace, for whom; for His servants. Which servants? Over here,

especially, the prophets of Allah, because they're the ones who are mentioned over here.

24

We learn in a حدث that Jibreel عليه السلام once came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم he said that:

عحلحيكح أ حقرح

ليح جح بيحكح عحزيح وح نيح رح م ا هحلا السحي

“Your Lord is sending the greeting of لام to you”

He is sending salaam to you and the fact is that Allah; He is محلا .السحي

”اللحيهمحي أ ح

And لام, peace, security is from who? From Allah alone, and it is for who? For those who surrender

to Him, for those who are Muslim, who submit to Him. So we see over here in these examples that

are mentioned that those who surrender to Allah, then they're the ones who are saved and protected

in this life and the next. And the one who opposes the messenger of Allah, who opposes the

command of Allah, than for him there is no safety, neither in this world nor in the next.
