Damn this island! The Americans can have it..
Shows normative commitment at war. No will power to fight the war. Wants to

Extremely hostile towards few people due to pre-conceived stereotypes- towards

Escape is cowards way!
This is a case of soldiers performing the most heinous task under the influence of
authoritative power
Initially soldiers were reluctant to commit suicide, however the first suicide acted as a trigger
for numerous suicides which followed, much like the herd mentality
The crisis also brought out the truth behind Shimizus character. Thus far he was perceivedas a fanatic: but the veil of fearlessness came out in this scene
Saigo displays high convincing power here and motivates Nishi to snub the so called
honorable death and continue their fight against the Americans
We can die here or we can continue fighting

Breakdown of military hierarchy and decision making is compromised
Nishi following his superiors orders, shows Emotional Stability
Ito-emotionally driven, his pride hurt on considering the return to north, he considers it his
duty to respond strongly
Conflict resolution is hampered by professional mistrust
Due to conflict in the upper hierarchy, the soldiers were engaging in opportunism.
With or without Kuribayashi!

Sensitive of the needs of his soldiers, if not his immediate subordinates
Demonstrates pragmatism by breaking the convention
Emotional intelligence in times of impending crisis;
Until the very last soldier is dead !
