CELSTRAN® LFRT Long Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic

Celstran® long fi ber reinforced thermoplas-tics (LFRT) unite long fi ber reinforcements with advanced thermoplastic resins for a combination of mechanical properties, impact, creep resistance and low warpage.

Celstran® long fi ber reinforced thermoplas-tics (LFRT) offer a combination of stiffness and toughness unparalleled by conventional short fi ber reinforced thermoplastics.

Incorporated fi bers can be glass, carbon, aramid and stainless steels. Nearly all types of polymers are suitable as matrix material (PP, PA, TPU, POM, PBT, PPS, HDPE, ABS, PC/ABS and others).

Celanese Corporation is a global technology leader in the production of differentiated chemistry solutions and specialty materials used in most major industries and consumer applications. With activities almost equally divided between North America, Europe and Asia, Celanese employs approximately 7 400 employees worldwide and had 2013 net sales of $6.5 billion.

Excellent Mechanical Properties and Low Warpage for

Metal Replacement

• Why should I consider CELSTRAN from RESINEX for METAL REPLACEMENT?

• • Performance similar to die cast materials• • Tough: high modulus with impact• • Excellent dimensional stability• • High retention of modulus at elevated temperatures• • CLTE (coeffi cient of linear thermal expansion) similar to metal• • Reduced wall sections with equivalent performance vs. short fi ber• • Eliminate costly welding, cutting, secondary operations• • Excellent processability• • Broad technical support from RESINEX experts• • Local warehousing and Technical Sales force in every European country•

Celstran® is produced by patented pultrusion technology — the long fi bers are impregnated to deliver optimal reinforcement to the plastic matrix. Unlike conventional short-fi ber reinforced materials, the longer fi bers form an internal glass fi ber “skeleton” that limits anisotropic shrinkage and greatly reduces warpage in parts.

Long Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic Benefi ts versus Short Fiber

• Markedly higher mechanical properties• Reduced creep tendency• Very good stability at elevated temperatures in humid

conditions• Very low warpage

Long Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic Benefi ts versus Metal

• Economy of scale• Maintenance advantages• Appearance• Functionality• Insulating• Corrosion resistance• Design and integration freedom• Weight reduction

Celstran® LFRT has a remarkable property profi le. Moldings made from the long fi ber reinforced thermoplastics have good dimensi-onal stability and excellent mechanical properties, including high toughness and rigidity, fatigue strength and resistance to crack propagation.
