Vocational Education at Tabor AdelaideAt Tabor we understand that not everyone wants or needs to

study at Degree level.

In 2009 we developed the Certificates III, IV and Diploma of Christian Life and Ministry (Govt Accredited) to suit people who wanted to extend their knowledge of Scripture, Theology and Ministry at VeT level.

Lucia Mudgway, was planning to study face to face with us in 2011 but the floods in Brisbane meant she had to relocate

from her Adelaide home to look after some property she had there. Rather than give up on her dreams to study, Lucia chose to do the program entirely online!

Lucia has been studying the course full time this year and she writes:

“I just want to write and tell you how much I am enjoying the course I am doing--Cert 4 in Christian Life and Ministry. I have loved exploring all the units included in this course, and have found it to be a wonderful and exciting journey, enabling me to grow spiritually and rediscover Jesus and myself.

Thank you for all your help. I thought it would be difficult doing it all on line, but thanks to all the wonderful lecturers and staff, it has been quite easy to understand and time manage.

As I am nearing the end of my course, I have been putting out some feelers about employment, and have found that there are a lot of opportunities for me to use this course, as a valuable credential, to further career opportunities and to serve the Lord as well. I am seriously considering doing further studies with you in the future, perhaps in a Diploma of Theology and eventually a Masters!

I have truly loved learning and studying this year and feel that I have achieved a lot in terms of personal growth and changing attitudes about life. I would recommend Tabor College to anyone interested in studying the Christian faith. Thank you so much for the privilege of accepting me as a student.”

we have loved being able to serve Lucia in this way as she continues her journey!

Tabor Selected for International Library Award

Tabor principal Dr Don Owers reports that Tabor has been awarded a major library gift from the International Society for Science and Religion.

The College’s application for the award was reviewed under a competitive judging process under which Tabor was selected as one of only 150 institutions worldwide to be awarded a full set of the Society’s Faith and Science library – some 224 volumes!

“This is another very positive outcome of the Graeme Clark Research Institute” Dr Owers said. he congratulated Dr Graham Buxton, the author of the application for the award.

The books should begin arriving at Tabor in the next month or so.

Invitation to participate in SA researchRobyn Lingard is studying a Masters of Clinical Counselling at Tabor College, Adelaide. Robyn has had Me/CFS for 22 years and is interested in hearing the experiences of other sufferers/survivors.

Myalgic Encephalopathy/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Building a long-term trusting relationship with your spouse or partner can be rewarding but also challenging. If you have a chronic illness such as Me/CFS, this relationship can become even more challenging.

This Masters Research Project asks participants to share their experiences of the influence of Me/CFS upon their marriage or defacto partnership.

would you be willing to confidentially share your experience so that together we can assist individuals and couples, just like you, who also live with this debilitating and baffling illness?

What will you be asked to do?

you and your partner will each be posted a short 5 minute questionnaire about what Me/CFS has meant for your relationship. you will then return the questionnaire in a supplied stamped self-addressed envelope within 1 week of receiving the questionnaire.

A small number of couples will be contacted at a later date for an optional 30 – 60 minute interview, depending upon your energy level. The interview will look at your answers to the questionnaire. The interview will be conducted at a location of your convenience, such as your home.

who is eligible to participate in the study?

If you are married or in a defacto relationship•

If you or your partner has Me/CFS•

If a diagnosis of Me/CFS can be confirmed by your doctor•

Measure Twice, Cut OnceBy J Cooper

Tools to hand, select the timber,

True and square and all worked out.

Clamp it, plane, scrape yet remember:

Twice to measure, once to cut.

Craftsmen for perfection hunger

Though the shortcut will entice.

Long they labour, slow to anger.

Cut once, but first measure twice.

Blow by mallet blow your metre,

Rhyme and reason holding fast,

To ensure in double measure

every single cut’s made just.
