“Confidence breeds beauty.” ESTÉE LAUDER, COSMETICS BUSINESSWOMAN 03 LIFESTYLE Beauty resolutions for 2020 With the New Year settling in, people have fresh aspirations and looking good is one of them. To achieve this aim of looking your healthiest best, here are some simple resolutions for 2020 HYDRATE 7 Drinking insuffi- cient quantity of water every day can result in conditions like constipation, acne, and repeated urinary tract infections. Drinking plenty of water helps eliminate the toxins by flushing it out of the system. Regular intake of water also helps in control- ling hunger pangs, that can further control craving for food (especially junk food) in between meals. So, keep a bottle of fresh water on your study table, always. 1 We tend to buy tons of products (skincare and cosmetics) from malls, online, etc. over a period of time. This year, resolve to replenish your beau- ty closet. Take time to check expiry dates of all the products, whether it is caked, old or if creams have sepa- rated from oil. Look carefully and restock. DETOX WITH SUPERFOODS 4 This year, resolve to consume more super- foods like moringa, kefir, green veggies, colourful fruits, cilantro, etc. that contain hydrating and detoxifying elements, which boosts skin and hair. It is essential to eat foods with detoxing properties as our body is well- equipped to eliminate toxins and it doesn’t need expensive supplements to do so. REPAIR & PRESERVE 3 Start night repair as early as possible because the younger you start, the longer you delay the onset of ageing. While the difference between the cell turnover rate in your teens to the time you are in your fifties is large, there are still ways you can speed up the turnover rate. As a teen, you just need something moisturising at night and not a heavy-duty expensive night cream. However, do moisturise before sleeping. REDUCE SUGAR TO FIGHT ACNE 6 Sometimes premature skin ageing happens because of exces- sive sugar consumption. Sugar is bad for the skin in more ways than one. When sugar is ingested in any form, be it bread, cake or even raw sugar, it starts ‘glyca- tion’ process in the body system, leading to pre- mature ageing of the skin. Sugar, especially from junk foods like colas and burgers also aggravates acne and hairfall. DECLUTTER YOUR BEAUTY CLOSET BE CONSISTENT 2 Do not stop your skin- care program just because you don’t see immediate results. Any skin- care regimen or product takes time to work on your skin. So, if you are on an anti-acne program, give it time. SEEK PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE 5 Personalisation is crucial when it comes to skin- care. It is important to have your skincare regimen customised as per your skin type and individual requirement. Sometimes it’s also important to con- sult a dermatolo- gist if your skin is giving you trouble in the form of acne, rosacea or chronic hairfall. Experts can give you a holistic plan to keep your skin healthy. EXERCISE REGULARLY 9 To maintain weight, you must include regular physi- cal activity in your life. And what better way to do it than by dancing or jogging on a daily basis. If you are pressed for time, walk whenever you can. MAKE SMALL CHANGES 10 Resolve to make small changes in your lifestyle. Have more veggies, fruits instead of processed foods. It will yield good results. TNN INVEST IN CHEMICAL FREE PRODUCTS 8 Though sweet-smelling lotions feel good, they are not always good for your skin due to the presence of chemicals. Invest in quality skincare that has minimum or no chemicals. How to clean your Moisture levels and humidity in the air can affect the metal alloy used in jewellery. Soak your gold accessories for 15 minutes in this solu- tion and gently use a soft-bristled brush to remove the dirt. For jewellery studded with diamonds and gems Use mild, soapy water to clean your diamond rings or gem studded jewellery. Make sure to soak these pieces for 15 minutes. Then rinse the dirt away under a steady stream of water. For silver accessories Silver tends to turn black over wears. Use a toothpaste and soft cotton cloth to rub the paste on your silver ornaments. Then gently wipe it off to get the sheen of your jewellery back.
