Lightweight Wide-Area Motion Imagery for Aerostats

The Advantage of Wide-Area Motion ImageryWhether it’s securing a border or supporting disaster relief efforts, today’s sensor operators have many tools at their disposal. But only a wide-area motion imagery (WAMI) system mounted on an aerostat can monitor a whole city-sized area at once, for weeks at a time.

Simera WAMI operators have immediate access to both live and recorded imagery, allowing them to establish connections between people and places of interest and understand past events in order to better detect unusual activity.

Compact A rapid reaction configuration—tactical aerostat, sensor, and ground station—can be transported in just one Humvee and stood up in less than 3 hours.

Affordable Simera is more affordable than competing solutions, both in terms of manpower and flight hour costs.

Exportable Simera is the first aerostat-based WAMI system available tointernational customers.

Simera views and records all significant activity within its city-sized coverage area. When activity is detected, Simera can cue a hi-resolution camera for a closer look. The tracking option allows support for tracking objects of interest and employs the user-defined watchbox option to provide automated alerts whenever movement is detected.

Simera operators can open windows displaying imagery from anywhere within the sensor’s large coverage zone. Operators can then zoom in and monitor multiple, geographically dispersed areas at once.

Imagery can be viewed on handheld devices on the ground.
