NEW AARCH location Aarhus, Denmark

period September 2016.

Engagement as a key of consideration in Archi-tecture, is playing significant role that has usually demonstrated how design tools can approach dif-ferent disciplines and let the building of our contexts evolve to a better future. The current Aarhus school of Architecture is tar-geting an entity that could carry out architectural education to further public awareness and under-

standing through its impact. Being part of a comprehensive master plan inside the cultural district, this project has focused to pro-pose a NEW AARCH using a complex multi-disci-plinary scalar methodology that correspond to the dynamic variables. The design development passed through an integrated process to explore the var-ious opportunities for implementation where the

master plan considered the urban transformation of Godsbanearlerne area as part of the municipality plans. Meanwhile, the development of the educa-tional facilities of the school complex was carried out through intensive design qualities imposing an interacting architecture product that complies with different areas of technology, energy efficiency and structural design.

CORSICO MUSIC HUB

Initiation of the project was about searching a prop-er function which will be accommodated into 3000 sqm of the multi-functional space, given by the brief.

By the analysis, inspiration was found in the historical context of the location. Well-known by the cultural boom in the 60s and 70s, Giambellino-Lorenteggio district was only about two kilometers from the project location. It was widely recognized area that gave a generation of talented Milanese, especially musicians.

It was an inspiration that prompted us to revive this mem-ory, to transfer it and save it inside a Corsico Music Hub.

location Milan, Italy

period January 2016.

The idea is to have three major activities inside the Hub, through which the locals would experience the music: performance, exhibition and workshop. Having in mind this functional separation, as well the object’s positioning inside the location, the volume of the building is split in three, all of them directly connected underground.

The music was the very first input to the project development, but later on it had as well the great influence in design process. Idea of the rhythmics is implemented in the facade.

Here comes into consideration sustainability aspect, having double facade as an important factor that affects directly energy consumption. Therefore it was designed as a compromise of two: orientation that building faces with the amount of incident sun rays and internal organiza-tion together with the required amount of natural light. As well, other passive design strategies

like material albedo, buffer areas etc. are taken into account.

Further on, project is developed in parallel having as a guidelines good energy performance (low annual consumption, resolving of the thermal bridges) and prominent architectural design (in terms of space organization, users experience, visual impact, acoustics requirements etc).

VERTICAL SLUMSlocation Mumbai, India

period July 2015.

competition entry special mention

Slums unfurl in oganic way, in opposite to most of our city fabrics. Space is scarce and rapidly filled with living units. The units themselves are build with diverse materials essentially low cost and abundant.

The context sets up our concept. When thinking about design-ing a skyscraper using a container as unit we processes how to discern the key features of the slums, develop them and implement high-end replicable, sustainable and resilient strat-egies to support them.

MUSEO DIOCESANOlocation Milan, Italy

period February 2015.

physical model cardboard, balsa

The project implied the new addition to the existing Diocesano Mu-seum. It should occupy the area between the Parco delle Basiliche and the Corso di Porta Ticinese which has remained somewhat ill-defined since the wartime destruction.

The project proposal went deep through the spatial analysis, propor-tions and requirements, both of the context and of competition brief. Aim was to create new representative museum front and to solve functional issues of the Museum.

Proposal does not invade the context, but respectively fill the missing wing, putting in the emphasis connection between two important city voids; street and park.

The project is a threshold for itself. Between old building with permanent exhibition and new one with temporary displays. Threshold between internal courtyard and external plaza. In-ternal ramps are uniting the exhibition space, but as well have specific relation towards the outdoor environment.

21

Page 13: Ljubica Perisic_Portfolio

Another important aspect of the project was to follow sustainability requirements. Compact-ness of the form is one of the major aspect to achieve this goal. Rather than having scattered building form, this one will also provide large open public space in front.

Emphasis is as well put on the natural ventilation and the proper light distribution. Pitched central roof has a crucial role. It acts as a chimney, pulling out the warm air from the exhibition area. On the other side, its orientation enables installation of the PV panels facing directly south, and diffused natural light coming from the north. Bellow the roof there is a ceiling made of wooden planks, which control and distribute incident light according to the need of gallery.

The new wing of the museum is unique whole for itself, but at the same time creates a unity with the rest of the museum.

TERAZIJE TERRACElocation Belgrade, Serbia

period January 2014.

Location - Savamala. Back in the past - center of the city, nowadays - neglected, overcrowded traffic area. Project location spreads in between downtown area and Sava river. The main goal of the project is to redesign the area so to be used to its full potential.

By the analysis of the context, several key nodes are recognized. Linking of those and by overlapping new connections, the green pedestrian corridor has been made. Its function is to launch people to the waterfront, but even the greater role is that this corridor, together with the crossing streets, creates a skeleton of the site. As a human body’s skeleton, corridor embraces proposed functions and feed them with users. Besides, corridor is meant to accommodate plenty recreation and relaxation areas that will create real oasis inside the heart of the Belgrade. 29

Page 17: Ljubica Perisic_Portfolio

In the second phase of the project, focus is on development of one block that besides corridor accommodates mixed-used complex. Complex consists mainly of residential space, but also has a kindergarten and commercial spaces in ground floor.

Stepping of the complex volume follows location topography and gives opportunity for a better views form inside of the complex.

Speaking about residential units, their composition varies from studio apartments to vast duplex flats. The main element of each apartment is internal atrium. Since most of the flats are deep and half of them are north-side oriented, need of ad-ditional lighting arose. Therefore, we are introducing atrium, element that will provide extra light and as well that will foster natural ventilation of the flats.

31

Page 18: Ljubica Perisic_Portfolio

The observed part of the location will include new housing and craft shops on the ground floor. These shops are inspired by the Balkan street and market place ,,Zeleni venac’’. Here were located the first Belgrade’s taverns, the first hat makers, watchmakers, last bonbon maker.

The area will be designed as a modern inter-active zone, which preserves the spirit of the old craft shops, but now includes the pass-ers-by to participate in their activities.

Open area in front of the store will provide a space for various performances. This zone will not only physically connect the mentioned market and Balkan street, but will revive the spirit and preserve Belgrade as it was once.

IT BUSINESS PAVILIONlocation Belgrade, Serbia

period June 2013.

Project is located in a New Belgrade, part of the city that is characterised by the fast development and modern architecture. It is overlooking one of the biggest Belgrade’s shopping moll from one side and empty plots on the others. Therefore, project proposal has to deal with a flexibility of a context that is going to evolve in the future.

Project brief required a new building that will accommodate 800 sqm of of-fice and exhibition space for IT company. Building’s form is inspired by regularity and modular-ity of the New Belgrade’s morphology. Accordingly, emphasis is placed on the structure that wraps the building and comes to the forefront.

Ground floor is dedicated to staff and technical faci-lities, while first floor host exhibition area with a bar, offices and meeting rooms as well as relaxation ter-race for employees.
