Hi,

It saddens me to see my state alltorn up. I have traveled all over theparts affected by Hurricane Harveyand have many great memories. Whether it is stopping for onionrings at the DQ in Refugio on theway to Corpus with my dad as kidthen having a crab try to steal mytoe, dining with Lee at the BoilingPot in Rockport, playing at the parkin Conroe, or the roads that havewashed away that took us to Whizzerville Hall in July. I did check the hall and shooting range are good but the roads to them are not.

One of my fondest memories growing up was after Tropical Storm Elena photographing the lunar eclipse with my dad. My grandmother was there too. It was a belated birthday celebration. She told me then that hurricanes and tropical storms are no match for us stubborn Texans.

We are less than a month from our charity car show on Oct. 1. I know that our charity, Pets for Patriots, probably isn't jiving with your desire to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. However, the four-legged victims of Harvey need homes too. Also, veterans may be forced to give up their pets because the apartments that serve as temporary housing may have huge pet deposits. The Pets for Patriots program can help veterans with those expenses, veterinary expenses and adoption fees.

We need volunteers for the show as well. Please visit http://www.lccfastandclassic.com/ for more information. There are tons of categories so if your Vette isn't running there is probably another category that you can enter.

Discount codes are:SW4077387 for members to get $5 offDD2148387 for Veterans to get $10 off

Please share the codes with your friends too.

This section is for content provided by LCC Members. Anyone iswelcome to submit articles which would be of interest to Corvetteowners.

In particular it would be great if someone would write some articles about the early Corvettes (C1 & C2) or later Corvettes (C5-C7).

This month’s submission isn’t very technical, but please enjoy Kelley’s writeup of the 2017 NCCC convention in Bowling Green,KY. Wish y’all could have been there! It would be great to have a much bigger presence for LCC on the national scene.

2017 NCCC Convention Wrap-Upan original article by Kelley Knight Heins

Well the 2017 National Convention is a wrap. It was lots of fun, dancing, and meeting our extended Corvette and biological family.

That's right in the middle of nowhere Kentucky while watching the eclipse, I met some very distant cousins (apparently if you have kin with the name of Boggs from Winchester, KY you have a lot of cousins). We also met Michael Phelps at the eclipse and Duncan Hines before going to the eclipse so it was weird meeting people with famous names. The total solar eclipse was so worth the trip by itself. I hope to be around and vertical in 2024 for the one that goes west of Austin.

I was mainly focused on my astronomy passion so we didn't fully engage in the conference until after the eclipse at the Champions dinner where the Top 15 men, women and clubs received awards.

Tuesday, we were all ready to drag race but Lone Star decided to have some rocker arm issues so we drowned our sorrows of DNS at Whiskey River Pub. I also took a stroll along a little walking trail and looked at the Barren River. We then hadfun at the Hoedown. It was fun seeing people in various costumes.

Wednesday, we were at the National Corvette Museum Motorsport Park. We got rides in the morning from various people then in the afternoon we got Lone Star and each got a turn. Then it was Boots and Bowties.

Thursday, we kind of slept in and did our thing. But we did get to meet up with Phil Hartnady, our member that lives in Bowling Green. He finally got his LCC tote

and water bottle. We didn't miss out on the Hatch Chili madness because we ate at Chuy's.

Friday, we had breakfast with all the conference folks then went to the National Corvette Museum for a tour. Then we went to the big banquet where they announce all the awards. After that we said our farewells and went to pack for home.

I've put a lot of the photos here: Bowling Green 2017 I've not done adding all the photos so check back.

Let's just say...
