1/5/16 To Whom It May Concern – Jennifer Reeves worked with me in the spring of 2014 as a practicum, and I can easily give her a glowing recommendation. Our radio station is closely affiliated with Salisbury University, and I regularly work with at least one practicum student each semester. The work load varies greatly depending on the background and interest level of the practicum in addition to their capacity and skills. Jennifer was immediately working at the highest level, and is one of the few students I’ve worked with who I have felt were “ready for work” in every respect, personal and professional. Jennifer had a variety of duties with me, including the weekly duty of setting up basic informational content “skeleton” for a weekly classical music blog before I added my specific review content on the new releases. Her highest skill level work for me was being my research assistant for one of my monthly series; something that only a few practicums rise to. (An after-the-new-at-noon series aired each week day of the entire month.) Her personal affinity for, interest in, and knowledge of classical music greatly augmented her ability to fit research & biographical information into the context of our classical music programming. Jennifer’s writing skills are very high, and she has a keen sense of flow and editing in her writing. For our purposes, this meant that her work was ready to go, easily fitted into the larger context of the series. While Jennifer is highly disciplined, she also works exceptionally well as a member of a team, with a pleasant, easy going personality. In a busy, harried, media deadline work environment where she had no specific work space to call her own, Jennifer was able to easily fit in, and also made significant focused contribution to our content on- air and on-line.
