Emphasis on applied knowledge and interdisciplinarity has resulted in a remarkable success rate, with nearly 100% o our students completing their degrees within two years o starting the programme. Our students spend the third semester in a developing country o their choice combining academic course work with practical work applying the theoretical knowledge they have acquired during the frst year o campus-based study in Lund. Features of the programme • Qualitative assessment of processes and methods used in international development projects and programme man- agement • Formulation of project proposals and project design • Knowledge and practical experience of project monitoring and carrying out o organisational assessments • An understanding of theories related to international de- velopment and specialised knowledge in natural resource management, international public health and social de- velopment • Qualitative and quantitative data collection methods • Collecting and analysing primary as well as secondary data on the basis o feld work in a developing country • Extensive experience of peer reviewing fellow students work, both verbally and in writing Programme modules/courses Semester 1: International Development Perspectives (15 credits), Theory o Science and Methods (15 credits). Semes- ter 2: Global Public Health (7.5 credits), Sustainable Devel- opment and Natural Resource Management (7.5 credits), Urban and Rural Development and Livelihoods (7.5 credits), Development Organisations and Programme Management (7.5). To be eligible for the course students must also have a minimum average grade in their Bachelor’s studies equivalent to 3.0 in cumulated grade point average (CGPA) out of 4, C in the ECTS grading scale, and B in the American grading scale. For students with Swedish under - graduate studies the minimum requirement is G. English B (advanced). The fnal selection among applicants ulflling the entry re-

quirements is based on academic degrees, academic marks,

disciplinary background, relevant work experience and the

statements o purpose written by the applicants. Special at-

tention will be paid to the statement o purpose and wheth-er the applicant has completed an undergraduate degree by

the time the programme starts.

There are no tuition fees for EU/EEA citizens. For non-EU/ EEA

citizens the tuition fee for this programme is SEK 100 000 per

Lumid - An Interdisciplinary ProgrammeThe LUMID staff consists of teachers with extensive experi-

ence o international development and management, be-

longing to the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine,

Faculty of Science, School of Economics and Management,

Faculty of Social Sciences and the Centre for Sustainability

Studies o the University o Lund. Within these aculties,several disciplines are represented, including earth and eco-

system sciences, economic history, human geography, politi-

cal science, public health, sociology, sustainability studies

and water resource management. The LUMID programme

is hosted by the Department o Human Geography, which

is a dynamic entity with a strong international reputation

or both research and education in development and human

geography.
