MALDIVES TOURISM UPDATES 15 th April 2021 Vol - 15 1. Tourist Arrivals From 1st January 2021 to 14th April 2021, a total of 345,261 tourists arrived in the Maldives. The top source market for the tourist arrival was India with 78,902 arrivals, followed by Russia with 73,415 tourist arrivals. Ukraine stood third with 19,302 tourist arrivals. Other top source markets include Germany, Kazakhstan, Romania, United Kingdom, USA, Czech Republic and France. 1. Tourist Arrivals

From 1st January 2021 to 14th April 2021, a total of 345,261 tourists arrived in the Maldives.

The top source market for the tourist arrival was India with 78,902 arrivals, followed by Russia with 73,415 tourist arrivals. Ukraine stood third with 19,302 tourist arrivals. Other top source markets include Germany, Kazakhstan, Romania, United Kingdom, USA, Czech Republic and France.

Recovering Markets

Markets are recovering with impressive results. As of 14th April 2021, the Central/Eastern Europe, South Asia and Africa region surpassed pre-COVID levels, pos�ng above average growth rates of +145.6%, +116.3% and +28.4% respec�vely. Individual markets within the Central/Eastern European region are also performing with outstanding results as new markets emerge from this region and making it to top 10 list.

5. News Highlights

Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom gave an interview to CNBC Interna�onal. During his interview he highlighted on Maldives contemporary tourism development ini�a�ves. He also shared more about the country's "visit, vaccinate, vaca�on" ini�a�ve.

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Maldives, HE Mr Zhang Lizhong made a farewell call on the Minister of Tourism HE Dr. Abdulla Mausoom on 8th April. Minister conveyed apprecia�on for the Ambassador’s ac�ve role and coopera�on during his tenure in the Maldives

Discussions on Tourism Golden Jubilee celebra�ons Ministry of Tourism holds introductory mee�ng with the tourism industry stakeholders and related associa�ons to discuss the events and ac�vi�es to celebrate the Maldives Tourism Golden Jubilee Year, 2022.

Cer�ficate ceremony of Imam & Khathibs training for tourist resorts was held on 11 April 2021. The ceremony was conducted virtually at Isamic Ministry. Minter of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, and Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali par�cipated and addressed the gathering. this is the conclusion of 5 batches of this program, an extra of 2 more batches are to be commenced soon.
