Introduction

MapRice GIS is a secure, flexible mapping system introduced by SunRice in

2015 to provide individual rice growers greater visibility of all aspects of on-

farm operations.

MapRice GIS is a Geographic Information System (GIS) based on a technology

platform developed and maintained by Agtrix which has been implemented

across a number of Australian primary industries.

Recording your on-farm operations in MapRice GIS is instrumental in enabling SunRice Grower Services to:

Forecast crop sizes and prepare for crop intake logistics;

Establish industry input and yield benchmarks;

Analyse important rice growing trends;

Develop management guidelines to assist growers;

Plan milling, packaging and distribution programs; and

Assure SunRice customers of the traceability and accountability of the quality and purity of Australian grown

rice.

SunRice Grower Services are continually working with Agtrix to put more into MapRice GIS.

Agtrix are also preparing MapRice GIS to import and export information from popular on-farm management tool

such as Agworld, Proagrica SST and Back Paddock, so you can keep all your information up to date and share it with

your agronomists.

SunRice Growers who are MapRice GIS users will soon have access to a greater pool of information to enable

advanced analysis and deeper insights into crop performance at individual paddock, farm, region, and industry wide

levels, to allow you to compare and benchmark your operation and use that information to ultimately improve your

profitability.

MapRice GIS Assistance

While this User Guide is intended to be as comprehensive as possible,

there is always help and assistance available from SunRice Grower

Services.

We can help you record every step of your on-farm operations in

MapRice GIS with one-on-one support by phone, or by remote support

with TeamViewer.

You can change the map background to show a Street or Photo background, or you can set a Custom map by clicking

the More Options across the bottom of the map. You can also drag the map with your mouse, and use the zoom tool

or click wheel on the mouse to zoom in on the map.

Set a Custom Map

There is a range of options to show a custom map background. You can choose from a range of aerial photos, street

maps and Sentinel satellite based maps including NDVI and other sources.

Over time, additional map backgrounds will be added as they become available.

Seed Orders

You must have a receival contract with SunRice Grower Services to order seed. Receival contracts are set by farm

and variety, and can be based on either tonnage or acreage. You will only be able to order seed for the farm and

variety you have receival contracts for.

Please call SunRice Grower Services on 1800 654 557 to arrange your receival contracts.

It is also a good idea to make sure your farm and paddock areas are accurate before placing a seed order. Some

receival contracts are based on acreage, and the seed orders lodged for that farm and variety must be within a set

tolerance of the acreage on the receival contract.

Please see the Manage Farms and Edit a Paddock sections above for instructions to check and redraw your farm and

paddock areas before attempting to lodge your seed order.

A seed order must be lodged through MapRice GIS before seed can be collected from a depot.

Lodging a Seed Order

1. Click the Seed Orders button on the left hand panel.

2. Click the Add button underneath the farm you wish to order seed for.

3. If you wish to order seed for a Full Paddock, ensure Full Paddocks is selected at the top of the left hand

navigation panel, then scroll down the list of paddocks with areas displayed to locate the paddock you want.

Click the check box next to the paddock and the map will zoom to the selected paddock. Then click Next to

Receival Plan, Collection Info, and Terms & Conditions (links to documents available). Click Submit Order to

finalise your order.

8. Your order summary should then show a status of Success.

edit the boundaries of the selected area within the Paddock by using the Edit tool and dragging the points to the

area you want.

Planting

Lodging a seed order creates a planned event which you then convert to a Planting to reflect when and how you

sowed your paddocks.

Accurately recording planting details is critically important for SunRice to determine the size, location and likely

profile of the crop. SunRice uses this information to forecast crop sizes and prepare for crop intake logistics.

Converting a Seed Order to a Planting

1. Click the Recommended and Planned button on the left hand panel.

[email protected] 1800 654 557 Page 14

2. The Recommended and Planned page shows all recommended and planned tasks that have not been completed.

All seed orders are planned Planting tasks until they are marked as completed.

The list can be filtered by task to show just Plantings and can also be filtered by date.

3. The list shows for each task the planned sowing date, paddock name and area. Clicking a task from the list will

show the variety ordered.

Click the Do button to continue.

[email protected] 1800 654 557 Page 15

4. Review the details of the planned task and click one of the Edit buttons to make any changes to reflect what has

actually been planted.

In particular, please make sure the date the crop was planted, the area, the variety and the sowing method are

all accurate and reflect what has been planted.

When all details are correct, click Save.

5. When the Planting task has been saved it can be viewed in the Completed tasks list.

Click the Completed button on the left hand panel to view all completed tasks.

The list can be filtered by task to show just Plantings and can also be filtered by date.
