The Marana Academy Partnership (MAP) initiative seeks to establish relationships with local employers to build stronger connections between school and work, providing students with a range of career development and work-based learning opportunities. MAP also works establish partnerships with community organizations, parents, and higher education institutions in Marana and Pima County.

We care about our students by providing smaller learning communities as a safe place to connect, explore and plan for their lives beyond high school.
Each student will interact with various career-‐=ield and professional organizations in order to have a direction and plan for the future.

-‐ Audience of Academy Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors-‐ Session held on a Wednesday during Academy Advisory (3:00-‐3:40pm)-‐ Highlighting careers and industry from the Marana area and establishing vision for a future workforce
On Campus-‐ Present at a career fair-‐ Assist at mock interviews-‐ Join review panel for Senior Academy Portfolio Presentations
On Site-‐ Host a worksite visit-‐ Host a job shadow-‐ Donate excess supplies & resources
Resident Advisor-‐ Partner in mentoring a group of sophomores, juniors, or seniors-‐ Wednesdays during Academy Advisory (3:00-‐3:40pm)-‐ Quarter, Semester, or year-‐long commitment
Long-Term Partnerships
Internships-‐ Seniors with interest in pursuing Academy careers-‐ Minimum 65 hours per semester requirement for students -‐ Semester or year-‐long placement-‐ Unpaid or paid, at the discretion of employer
Sponsorships-‐ Academy Consultant Board
-‐ Work with Academy leadership as a steering committee -‐ Oversee and advise Academy operations within a selected career Vield.
-‐ Corporate Sponsorship-‐ Show support for quality education and career exploration-‐ Embrace opportunities for students with varied academic needs and economic backgrounds-‐ Increase company exposure through media, signage and program acknowledgment-‐ Monetary service and product donations are tax deductible

Experiences in the workplace and with employers allow students to experience real work and see beyond the classroom. Students who are given opportunities to work in teams on real projects begin to understand the importance of professionalism, reliability, teamwork, and clear oral communication skills. They also see how their education is related to a career =ield. Frequently, after being exposed to the realities of the workplace
and careers, students will press harder in their studies and set higher goals for college.
