Sabbath: (In conflict with Societal agenda) Rest for the land;

For the worker;

To observe the existence of God and His Laws)

It was not that God needed rest, but that He choose rest.

THE UNINTENTIONAL VIOLATION: (vs.23)

Mark 2:23-28 23 Now it happened that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath; and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain.

Lesson: The human need or the ceremonial rules?

Lesson: If the Sabbath is so necessary in their lives; why are they not in worship at the Temple?

THE UPHOLDING OF A MODEL LIFE: (vs.25,26)

Lesson: David was one of their hero’s in the faith; Jesus is Lord over David; not viewed with respect and honor.

UNDERSTANDING JESUS’ POINTS: (vs.27,28)

People in relationship with God is more important

than rules and regulations:

Sabbath is only helpful when one is in relationship with Jesus (like the disciples)

Condemnation causes one to miss the intent of Sabbath; Rest for Relationship.
