Will writing fortnight 12-23 March 2012 Where there’s a will to be written there’s a way to raise funds for the Martlets.We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of 12 local solicitors who have donated their time to help over 120 people write their wills during Will writing fortnightThe Will writing service is offered in return for a donation to the Hospice.

Suggested minimum donations are:£75 for an updating Codicil, £110 for a single Will, £150 for a joint WillPlease note these rates are much lower than you would normally pay for these services.

On behalf of Hospice patients, their families and staff I would like to take this opportunity to say a very big and heartfelt thank you! Given the prevailing economic climate, we are anticipating another challenging year. Our focus is set firmly on protecting our primary services, the In-Patient Unit, our Hospice at Home service and our Patient and Family Support service. We are taking a cautious view of the months ahead, we hope to build on and develop more breathing and fatigue clinics as part of our Outpatient services. lizzie’s storyThe Staff at the Martlets asked me to write and tell you my story. My brave and beautiful Mum, Alison, died on Tuesday 18th October at 12.30pm, 3 days before her 55th birthday

Hello She was my best friend and an inspiration. She fought so courageously against an unrelenting, unforgiving and unjust disease and I will miss her more than I can possibly say. We chose not to have flowers at her funeral in October last year but asked that people made donations in memory of my lovely mummy to The Martlets Hospice. They helped us all put on a brave face in Mum’s final months, both during her stays there and when she came home. The nurses cried and laughed with us and led us as bearably as possible through what has been the most unbearable time. The Martlets is an incredibly special place, I couldn’t have got through the last few months without them. After everything the staff at the Martlets did for Mum and us last year I want to do anything I can to help. They need your help now to carry on caring for people like my Mum. Please support them, do whatever you can today so they’re there if you ever need them.
