Good savings habits don’t go on vacation! If you stop by a LUSO

branch during summer vacation and make a deposit to your savings

Massachusetts Vacation Ideas! Who says you need to go far away to have fun! Here are some ideas for

vacation fun in Massachusetts!

In Springfield you will find the Basketball Hall of Fame. Many historical

basketball related items are on display. There are free movies and video

highlights of famous games. An extremely popular attraction is one that

allows visitors to attempt scoring a basket while on a moving sidewalk.

Freedom Trail, in Boston is a walking tour that takes you to 16 historical

sites. Costumed historic characters guide you along the two-and-a-half

mile long trail marked by red bricks and painted lines. Educate yourself

about the people, the places, and events of the American Revolution.

Celebrate both Boston's and our country's history.

EcoTarium, in Worcester, is a center for nature study. The museum has

three floors of interactive exhibits, a planetarium, the Discovery Room

dedicated to play for preschoolers and adults, and more. Out on the

grounds you can find various wildlife, interpretive nature trails, a tree

canopy walkway, and observatory with one of the region's most powerful

telescopes.

Battleship Cove in Fall River is home to five historic naval ships. There is a

WWII submarine and battleship that are open to visitors and house the

World War II and Gulf War Memorial along with a full scale model of a

Patriot cruise missile. Available to view from walkways are two PT Boats

that saw combat in Korea and Vietnam and a landing craft.

Saving Gives You Power

Ingredients

• Oval-shaped cookies (we used Nabisco Cameos

and Pepperidge Farm Milanos)

• Frosting

• Sour gummy worms

• Rope licorice

• Gummy candy

Instructions

1. To make a pair, frost two oval-shaped cookies or use a toothpick to dab frosting on each cookie

where the straps will be attached.

2. For wide straps, snip the rounded ends from a sour gummy worm, cut it in half, and slice each half

lengthwise, leaving one end intact. For thin straps, cut rope licorice into four 1-3/4 pieces, cut one end

of each piece on an angle, and pinch together the pointed ends to form two pairs.

3. Press the straps, connected ends first, into the frosting. Use more frosting to add gummy candy jew-

els. Let the cookies set for 20 minutes. Serve them on a dish towel spread on a beach of graham cracker

crumbs.

Ingredients:

• 1 Large Flour Tortilla • Cooking Spray • Salt

Instructions:

1. Use animal-shaped cookie cutters to cut shapes from a large flour tortilla.

2. Arrange the animals on a baking sheet, lightly coat them with cooking spray, and

sprinkle them with salt.

3. Bake at 350° for 5 to 7 minutes, and your chips are ready for a dip in salsa or

guacamole.
