• The first sighting of Spanish colonization was 24 October 1492.
• Columbus on his first voyage sailed south of North America he explored Cuba.
• 1511, Diego Cuéllar set out to make the first Cuban Colony.

• Cuban Democracy Act 1962 (Cuban Embargo).• Helms-Burton Act 1996, restricted the US from
doing business with Cuba.• Cuba holds human rights violations and state
sponsored terrorism designation against US.• The US holds $6 billion worth of financial
claims against Cuba.

nuclear missiles.• Ended with the US and Cuba dismantling
missiles.• Established the Moscow-Washington landline.
