Carmel-by-the-Sea: A resident called toreport a parked vehicle was blocking the drive-way to his residence. Upon arrival, the vehiclewas found to be illegally parked and was in factblocking the driveway to the residence onJunipero. The vehicle was in the process ofbeing towed when the owner of the parkedvehicle arrived at the scene. Since the vehiclewas already in the possession of the tow com-pany, the owner of the vehicle settled the towbill with the tow company, at which time thevehicle was ultimately released back to theowner.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Citizen on Crespireported a dog in the backyard. Before the offi-cer’s arrival, the dog escaped through the fence

influence. She was arrested for DUI.Carmel area: Man reported panhandling

from bank customers at the ATM in theCrossroads.

Carmel area: Couple was reportedly in averbal argument at the Crossroads. Subjectswere contacted and the report was unfounded.The female subject was arrested on an unrelat-ed warrant.

Carmel Valley: At Carmel Valley Road andEl Caminito, suspect took a dog without per-mission.

Carmel area: Female was contacted duringa vehicle check at Third Avenue and Highway1 and was found to be in possession of drugparaphernalia.

into a neighbor’s yard. The resident secured thefence where the dog was now contained. Theofficer was not familiar with the small dog liv-ing at that residence and contacted the neigh-bor. Later, it was determined that the dog andits owner were visiting from out of town.Education provided for securing the fence.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Vehicle crashed intoparked car on Monte Verde. Driver was foundto be DUI.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Female reported herson was “beat up” at a party at an unknownlocation in the Carmel area. The son refused toprovide the location or where it occurred.During the evening, officers contacted a num-ber of subjects who knew about it and also didnot provide an exact location, but said it wasnear the high school. The mother never calledback.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine respondedat the request of Carmel police to a non-injuryaccident where fluids were on the ground.Officers used a small amount of absorbent topick up the fluid. There were no other hazards.Fire engine returned to service.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine respondedalong with ambulance to All Saints Church,where a female patient had become dizzy. Thepatient was assessed, medical history wasobtained, and a 12-lead EKG was performed inthe ambulance. Oxygen was also administered.Ambulance transported the patient to CHOMP.

Pacific Grove: Person reported hearing awoman on Ocean View Boulevard screaming

and then seeing her being hit by man in the facewhile he was holding onto her hair. Womanstated she fell and there was not a problem anddeclined medical attention. Man left in a vehi-cle prior to police arrival.

Pacific Grove: Items totaling more than$1,600 were stolen from an unlocked vehicleon Funston. Swabbed for DNA. Nothing fur-ther at this time.

Carmel area: Woman on Dougherty Placereceived an anonymous email she foundharassing in nature. The incident was docu-mented.

Carmel Valley: Carmel Valley Road resi-dent reported someone stole jewelry, coins andpills from her residence, from which she wasevicted on April 26.

Carmel area: A male and a female wereoccupants of a vehicle stopped on Highway 1and Morse Drive for vehicle code violations.Both were found to be in possession of hypo-dermic syringes and violating the terms of theirprobation and/or parole.

Carmel Valley: Female victim called thesuicide crisis center because she was upset andneeded help.

Carmel area: On Carmel RanchoBoulevard, two juveniles stole a woman’spurse. The purse was recovered nearby andsubsequently returned to the victim.

Carmel Valley: Via Mar Monte residentwished to report a violation of a restrainingorder. The restrained party had come to his res-idence and knocked on the door. Upon lookinginto the restraining order, it was determinedthat it had been granted but had not yet beenserved. No violation of the penal code hadoccurred. The incident was documented. Caseclosed.

SUNDAY, MAY 8

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A citizen reportedobserving an unknown male parked in front ofhis home on San Carlos Street. Residentbelieved the unknown person may have beenlying in wait to burglarize his home. A searchof the premises failed to produce any signs ofan attempt to burglarize the home.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A 19-year-old malewas arrested on Ocean Avenue and transportedto county jail for possession of paraphernaliaand probation violation.

Pacific Grove: An 18-year-old male wascontacted during a vehicle stop on CentralAvenue in an unreported 10851 [stolen vehi-cle]. Driver, a resident of Seaside, was drunkand admitted to stealing the vehicle the nightprior with the “shaved” key. Subject transport-ed to county jail on $10,000 bail.

Pacific Grove: A 19-year-old male Seasideresident was stopped on Central Avenue. Otheroccupants were arrested. Vehicle was towed.Subject was unable to take care of his welfare

and was intoxicated. Subject was booked andreleased when sober with a court date. Nothingfurther.

Pacific Grove: A 32-year-old maleMarina resident was contacted after hepassed out in his own vomit in a truckparked crooked in the street on Ransford.Once medics cleared, subject was adminis-tered FSTs. Subject was found to be underthe influence of alcohol behind the wheelwith keys in the ignition. He was booked andreleased to a sober family member.

Carmel area: At Highway 1 and OceanAvenue, driver stopped for vehicle code viola-tions was found to be violating the terms of hisprobation and arrested.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: CPD responded to a report of a non-injury accident involving a vehicle striking a parked vehicle onSan Carlos Street.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Resident found a purse on the beachand brought it to the station for safekeeping. Person left a mes-sage for the owner of the purse at her work number to contact theP.D. Owner of the purse was contacted, and the item was returnto her.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Carmelo Street resident reported hear-ing someone enter her residence then leave while she was inanother room. The resident thought that it may have been herhusband or someone from the property management firm.Information only. No further action.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A pearl necklace was found on OceanAvenue and brought to station for safekeeping.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: During a traffic stop on Camino delMonte, a 21-year-old female driver was found to have a sus-pended driver’s license. She was cited and released. The vehiclewas impounded, and a 30-day hold was placed on the vehicle.

Pebble Beach: Man stated that someone burglarized his res-idence.

Carmel Valley: Person reported receiving a call from anonline company wishing to provide virus removal services fortheir computer. The caller stated the computer would crash dueto the reason that the majority of computers in the U.S. haveviruses.

Big Sur: Subject reported he was challenged to fight at agrocery store. He did not wish for prosecution.

Carmel Valley: Two wooden signs with the words, “CaptainHappyness” and a picture of the owner were stolen off theowner’s property at the entrance of the driveway on Los Laureles

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine and ambu-lance dispatched to a hotel on Torres where a

male in his teens was experiencing vomiting,diarrhea and cramping for two hours.Transported person to CHOMP.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine dis-patched to Junipero between Fifth and Sixthfor an animal rescue. Arrived on scene to finda small dog locked in a vehicle with the keys inthe ignition. Firefighters used a vehicle entrytool to unlock the passenger door and retrievethe car keys for the owner. There was no harmto the dog and no damage to the vehicle.

Pacific Grove: A 21-year-old female wasstopped on HIghway 68 for a traffic violation.She had been driving with a suspended licenseand was arrested. Her vehicle was towed.

Pacific Grove: Report that a backpack wasstolen due to a dispute over unlawful skate-boarding. Backpack was returned and malewas admonished for taking it.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Man reported he put his camera on topof his car and drove off. When he went back to the location, thecamera was gone. A brief description of the camera was provid-ed.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Ninth Avenue resident reported he waslooking at his next-door neighbor’s house because some workwas being done on the wood floors. The contractor invited theresident in to see the work. The neighbor then returned home andordered the man out of the house. The resident said the neighborshoved him three times to get him out of the house. Officerspoke with the neighbor, whosaid he was surprised that theresident was in his house andunderstood that the contractorinvited him. He admitted togently pushing the resident outof the house because hewouldn’t leave when asked.The contractor confirmed thatthe resident wasn’t leavingwhen he was asked. Officeradvised both subjects to stayaway from each other and toavoid any confrontation.

Pacific Grove: 20 year oldmale contacted during a trafficstop on Forest Avenue wasfound to be unlicensed andwas arrested.

Pacific Grove: Vehicle No.1 struck vehicle No. 2 afterfailing to yield the right ofway after a stop on GrandAvenue.

Carmel area: Suspect wascited on Rio Road at Highway1 for possession of less than 1ounce of marijuana and for anout-of-county misdemeanorwarrant.

Carmel area: Report of adeceased person in a car at theCrossroads.

Carmel Valley: A checkwas made on a vehicle on LosLaureles Grade that was foundto be expired since 2009 andwas subsequently towed.During the inventory search ofthe vehicle, items of value,including U.S. currency, werefound and taken for safekeep-ing.

THURSDAY, MAY 12

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Accountant on San Carlos reported thata client was the apparent victim of a scam. The victim had beentold via phone that she had won $1.5 million and a new car fromReaders Digest. The victim thought it was legitimate and soldher existing car for $6,500 in order to send $2,500 via WesternUnion to claim her prize. The accountant and the officer workedwith the car dealership where her car was and managed to gether car back. The victim was advised not to trust any schemewhere she has to give money to get money.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Victim reported to bank that anunknown person obtained credit card information and made sev-eral purchases in Southern California. Bank suffered loss andrequested the victim obtain a police report.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Vehicle towed for blocking a drivewayon Dolores Street.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A 32-year-old female was stopped onThird Avenue for two violations and found to be DUI. She wasarrested and provided a blood sample. She was later booked andthen released to a sober family member.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Person reported a newly remodeledrestaurant on Junipero was open and serving/selling alcoholwithout proper permits from ABC and the city. Contacted theowner, who was found to have a valid liquor license andappeared to have proper permits from the city as well. The busi-ness was not open to the public, and the owner was having about20 of his friends in for training for his staff. It appeared therewere no city permit violations, but information was forwarded tothe city’s planning department for verification.

Pacific Grove: A 75-year-old male on Presidio Boulevardwas arrested for striking another person in the head with a ham-mer. Landlord was upset that the tenant below was using thehammer. He entered the tenant’s room, told him to stop, grabbedtenant and took hammer from him. Tenant’s friend tried to inter-vene. Landlord then struck tenant’s friend in the face and on hisback with hammer, causing multiple injuries. Medical refusedby all parties. Landlord arrested for ADW. Held on bail andtransported to county jail.

Pacific Grove: Suitcase left on sidewalk outside of residenceon 15th Street was stolen and later found by pedestrians. Thesuitcase was returned. No witnesses and no suspects.
