Mayor of London Funds Free Sports Activities London has begun the running of the latest round of Freesport; another fantastic scheme we urge our London clubs to get involved with. Youth groups and other community organisations that already run free sporting activities or would like to, are being offered support via the programme. Community organisations are able to apply for grants up to £1,500, to encourage Londoners to engage in sporting activities. FreeSport is a component of the Mayor’s Sports Legacy Programme, helping approximately 15,000 citizens of London each year. More than two thirds of them receive over six hours of free sessions from qualified and professional coaches. The initiative ties in perfectly with British Taekwondo’s very own mantra: more people, more taekwondo, more often. Visit www.london.gov.uk/freesport to find out more about the FreeSport application process. But be quick, because the deadline for the their submission is the 30 th of May 2014. Opportunities like these are invaluable to the growth and development of clubs, so be sure to get involved!
