When first planning my music magazine I wanted to create a magazine with

the intentions that someone my age would want to read it. I used

bands that all aim towards the same genre of music

which is the “Indie” Music culture. My magazine is mostly aimed towards

festival crowds, I have tried to appeal to this

demographic by including band names on the front of my magazine that could be performing at festivals and also using the image of a young girl that you may

find at one of these festivals

I have used various band names on the front of my

magazine, in doing so I am aiming at the Fans of this form of music, I have used

the names of bands who are all categorized as Indie

music to make it clear what the genre of my magazine is. When a potential reader sees

these bands names on the front of the magazine it tells

them that there is more about that topic inside the magazine and attracts the

fans of the indie music culture.

The main demographic that I was having in mind when creating my magazine is middle class and those

aspiring to middle class, the colour schemes and font I have chosen attract a more

intellectual and mature audience of readers to the

magazine.

I have chosen the image of a teenage girl on the front of my magazine,

this implements the idea of the male gaze for this age group who are the prime readers to my

magazine. Her flowery dress represents the fashion of the festival goers along with the

spike through her ear and the stud on her noes, these show the fashion of the youth and the indie

music culture. All of these work to attracting

the correct age range and demographic of

readers.

During my double page spread interview there was a part where we took the

publics question to ask the person we were

interviewing, this engages the audience and shows

them that they can connect with us and have a part in the magazine. If further issues of this magazine where to come out they would probably do it via

Twitter, Facebook and they would have a website you

are able to do it from, having all of these media

platforms we are engaging the media generation of

the youth.

I have chosen the image of a girl smiling in the woods with a flowery

dress on as it brings a sense of a feel good

factor to its audience, the clothing and setting could signify a change in season, many people like

to see summery stuff after a long winter. By putting this happy girl

on the front of the magazine, its saying to the audience that if you

pick up and read this magazine you will be as happy as the girl on the front of the image, this

should attract more readers into reading my

magazine
