Upcoming Board Meetings 2019-2020 Calendar Trustees approved the recommendation, brought forth by the District Improvement Committee, for the 2019- 2020 School Calendar. Superintendent Evaluation Timeline A timeline was approved for Superintendent Evaluation, to conclude with discussion and possible action on Dr. Greg Gibson’s contract at the February 19 regular meeting. Staff Development Waiver Consent was given to the recommendation of a Professional Develop- ment Staff Waiver for the 2019-2020 school year. This waiver allows the District to provide professional development designed to improve student performance in lieu of a maximum of 2,100 minutes of student instruction for districts that provide operational and instructional minutes. A Staff Development waiver had been previously approved for the 2018-2019 school year. Consent Agenda Included in the approval of Budgeted Purchases of Goods/Services in Excess of $50,000 are: repairs and renovations at Jordan Intermediate School and Wilder Intermediate School, out of the General Fund. Also contained in the budgeted purchases is the acquisition of two 47 passen- ger – conventional type special needs buses for increased student re- quirements, coming from 2016 Bond funds. National Mentoring Month Board Trustees adopted the Proclamation in recognition of National Mentoring Month and in recognition of Communities in Schools of South Central Texas for its partnership and support in providing in-school men- toring opportunities at SCUC ISD.

2019-2020 School Calendar

Board Secretary Jerry Perkins receives the book,

“We Don’t Eat Our Classmates”, from Watts Elemen-

tary School first grader Ivanna Otoya-Valencia and

Principal Deanna Jackson as part of School Board

Recognition Month.

All seven Trustees signed books presented to them by

students from each campus and respective principal to

be donated to the their campus library.

Communities in Schools (CIS) of South Central Texas

Mentor Coordinator Sonya Chapa (second from left)

is joined in recognition by members of the Schertz

Fire Department, who mentor students at several

SCUC campuses as part of National Mentoring

Month.

CIS of South Central Texas is a strategic partner with

SCUC ISD, providing social and academic services to

District students.
