MEGA MEDICAL CHECK-UP
CAMP
Desh Bhagat Hospital organized a
mega medical check-up camp. A
team of expert doctors with
Ayurveda department staff members
examined 200 patients in the camp.
The camp was inaugurated by Desh
Bhagat University Chancellor Dr.
Zora Singh.
Dr. Jyoti H. Dhami said that the
team which examined the patients
was led by Dr. Baljeet Singh, Chief
Medical Officer of the Desh Bhagat
Hospital.
Dentist Day
9 January, 2019
National Dentist day was celebrated at Desh Bhagat
University Dental college, The National Dentist Day
observed by IDA (Indian Dental Association) in India to
honor the contributions of Dr. Rafiuddin Ahmed, the
pioneer of dentistry in India.In recognition of his
dedicated service to the nation and the people, the
Government of India in 1964 awarded him the Padma
Bhushan, a rare and coveted honour presented never
before to a dentist. Dr. Ahmed was the first Indian
dentist to have achieved such an honour.
University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh inaugurated the
event as chief guest by cake cutting ceremony. In his
speech he urged the students to follow the footsteps of
Dr. Ahmed and take dentistry to the new heights. He also
shared the information about life and work of Dr. Ahmed

Prabhjot Kaur has brought
glory to the institution by
winning Gold Medal in a north
India women boxing
Competition held in Haryana.
Prabhjot won her Gold Medal
during the north India women
boxing held recently at
Haryana. This was disclosed
by DBU Chancellor Dr. Zora
Singh. While felicitating the
student, he said that Prabhjot
Kaur proved her worth during
a very tough competition in
69-75 Kg weight category. She
is our Shining Star and a role
model for other students. Dr.
Singh expressed the view that
games and sports are an
integral part of our education
and to promote the same
among students, Desh Bhagat

in Punjab provides all types of
incentives and facilities to the
outstanding players.
CONVOCATION’2019
14, Feburary, 2019
Desh Bhagat University held its convocation at Sri
Guru Hargobind Sahib Auditorium. About 750 pass
outs including PhD’s and M. Phil’s of the university
and the Desh Bhagat United belonging to different
streams participated in the convocation and
received their degrees and medals.
The students who have performed excellently
during the academic year in sports and other co-
curricular activities were especially honored with
medals and certificates.
While thanking all present, university Registrar Dr.
Kulbhushan and Vice- President Desh Bhagat
United, Er. Sandeep Singh observed that this
convocation will be marked in the annals of the
university as a golden day and the university feels
proud by honoring these personalities. The
Convocation concluded successfully leaving behind
everlasting memories.
STATE LEVEL MEGA JOB FEST

Desh Bhagat University with the
Collaboration of Punjab Government
organized a State Level Mega Job
Fest, at its campus. The Fair is going
to be attended by large no of students
from all over Punjab. Chief Guest
Deputy Commissioner Fathegarh
Sahib S. Shivdular Singh Dhillon
inaugurated the Mega Job Fair .All
guests graced the occasion by their
presence.
These companies came with 1600
vacancies of different posts.
Youth Fest ‘D-Buzz-2019

The Two-day long Youth Fest ‘D-Buzz-
2019’ concluded with marvelous response
and left behind everlasting memories. The
valedictory function of the grand event
was presided over by Chancellor Dr. Zora
Singh. Speaking on the occasion, he
appreciated the performances of the
students. He further said that the youth are
the future of the country and they should
shun evil habits like drug addiction and
get education so that they can glorify not
only themselves but also their state and
their country.
Two Day District Youth Festival 24 March, 2019
District Youth Festival-2017
concluded at Desh Bhagat
University which was
organised in collaboration
with Directorate of Youth
Services, Punjab and in
association with Assistant
Director Youth Services,
Fatehgarh Sahib.
The valedictory function was
presided over by the DBU
Chancellor Zora Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, he
appreciated the performances
of each and every college
teams which participated in
the youth festival. Balvinder
Singh Malhi, (Principal,
Cordia College, Sanghol)
was the chief guest on this
occasion.
All India Inter-University Golf Ball
Championship
Desh Bhagat University students have brought glory to the
institution by winning bronze Medal in All India Inter-
University Golf Ball Championship.
This was disclosed by DBU Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh.
While felicitating the student, he said that students
proved their worth during very tough competition. Dr.
Singh expressed the view that games and sports are an
integral part of our education and to promote the same
among students, Desh Bhagat University provides all types
of incentives and facilities to the outstanding players.

Industrial Visit
18 April, 2019
Desh Bhagat University organized an
Industrial Visit for its
Engineering departments students to
Swaraj Automotive, Altrateck Cement.
The objective of this visit was to make
the students familiar with the current
trends in the competitive world by
sharing knowledge, ideas and skills with
the people from the industry. Giving
more details University Pro- Chancellor
Ms. Tajinder Kaur said that students
along with their mentors had a complete
round of the factory and visited different
divisions.
World Nurses’ Day
12 May, 2019
Desh Bhagat University Faculty of
Nursing celebrated World Nurses’ Day
in a special manner. To mark this day, a
weeklong health awareness program
was arranged. On the final day of the
program, a special function was
organized. The Students of M.Sc.
Nursing, Post basic Nursing, B.Sc.,
GNM and ANM participated in it.
University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh
and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tejinder Kaur
inaugurated the event and appreciated
the initiative taken by the nursing
students. Speaking on this occasion, Dr.
Singh said that International Nurses Day
is marked every year to celebrate the
contributions to society and medical
care made by nurses around the world.
The date was chosen as Florence
Nightingale's birth anniversary – to
celebrate the 'lady with the lamp' who
nursed wounded soldiers during the
Crimean War, and whose progressive
ideas and reforms influenced the nature
of modern-day nursing.
Giving more details about the awareness
week program, Director Nursing Prof.
K. Thavamani said that nursing students
took part in different activities. The
students organized a door to door
campaign to create awareness among
people regarding different diseases like
Diabetes, Cancer, Epilepsy, Obesity,
Drugs and other medical conditions. The
students also started a special awareness
drive on Rubella and Measles
Vaccination. Pro-Chancellor Dr.
Tejinder Kaur appreciated the move and
said that such programs are very helpful
for the people, especially for the rural
area people
Later, the students who had made
excellent performance in events like
awareness activities, quiz contest, poster
making, dance competition, speech contest and other competitions were
honored.
Orthodontic Day

In the best MDS college, Desh
Bhagat University Dental
College celebrated World
Orthodontic Day under the
theme of “Smile is a Lifetime
Gift”. The WFO (World
Federation of Orthodontists)
has decided to celebrate World
Orthodontic Health Day in May,
a day that orthodontists around
the world can celebrate and
highlight orthodontics. The
event was inaugurated with
cake cutting ceremony by Chief
Guest, University Chancellor Dr.
Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor
Dr. Tejinder Kaur. University
Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh said
that such programs are very
helpful for the people,
especially for the rural area
people in making them aware.
In this program, students of
Dental College participated with
full enthusiasm.
As part of this program,
students create awareness
regarding Orthodontic. Students
participated in Declamation
Competition and Poster
Presentation Competition.
Anti Tobacco Drive
1June, 2019
Desh Bhagat Dental College and
Hospital, a constituent of Desh Bhagat
University, observed World No Tobacco
Day. The theme of World No Tobacco
Day 2019 is “tobacco and lung health”.
The campaign was organised with the
aim to increase awareness on negative
impacts of tobacco on people’s lungs,
which causes cancer and other chronic
respiratory diseases.
Chancellor Zora Singh encouraged
dental students and staff to make people
aware about the ill effects of tobacco on
human health. He said tobacco smoking
is the primary cause of lung cancer, and
is responsible for over two-thirds of lung
cancer deaths globally. Exposure to
passive smoking at home or in the work
place also increases the risk of lung
cancer.
A team, led by Dr Sanjeev Soni, made
people aware about oral health. Dr
Himashu Sood, Dr Sonali Saluja and Dr
Tania conducted an awareness talk for
migrant workers and labourers. They
informed the workers about devastating
harms of tobacco and motivated tobacco
consumers to visit the tobacco cessation
centre at the DBDC.

characteristic values. He also said that Sri Acharya Mahapragya Seminary Hall has been set up at Desh Bhagat University.

Induction Program
27 August, 2019
Desh Bhagat University held its Induction Program for all the First
year students of different streams. The objective of the program
was to acquaint the students with the academic and training
facilities available to them in the university. The program was
inaugurated by University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh. All students
and staff members joined Sri Path sahib held in Desh Bhagat
University.
University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh wished the students bright
careers and conveyed that the University will provide
opportunities to the students for overall development. Speaking on
the occasion Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, welcomed the
students and said that they are going to start a new chapter of life
so they have to work hard right from now to achieve their goals.
She advised the students to inculcate the values of hard work,
commitment and dedication. At the same time, they have to keep
themselves away from bad habits and bad company. She also
warned the students against the evil of ragging and said that it is
an offence which is punishable under law.
Mega Job 19 September, 2019
The District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises
organised a two-day mega job fair, which concluded
today. It was organised as part of Punjab government’s
Ghar-Ghar Rozgar programme at Desh Bhagat University,
Mandi Gobindgarh.
More than 42 leading companies participated in the fair.
About 875 unemployed youths were provided job
opportunities, whereas 184 youths were given loan
clearance certificates for self-employment.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (G)-cum-CEO District
Bureau of Employment and Enterprises Jaspreet Singh
said a series of mega job fair had been started. He called
upon the youths to avail the maximum benefit of these
fairs. Besides, the administration is also providing loans
on subsidy under self-employment schemes.
112th birth anniversary of Shaheed-E-
Azam Bhagat Singh

Desh Bhagat University celebrated the 112th birth
anniversary of Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh. A
special function was organised by the department of
journalism and mass communication to pay tributes to
the martyr..
Students depicted the life of Bhagat Singh through one-
act plays, singing and dance performances. A short
movie made by students of the department journalism
and mass communication on the life and message of
Bhagat Singh was the star attraction of the day.
Free Medical Check up
14th October 2019
Desh Bhagat Hospital organized a mega
medical check-up camp. A team of expert
doctors with Ayurveda department staff
members examined 248 patients in the camp.
The camp was inaugurated by Desh Bhagat
University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh.
While giving details, Dr. Jyoti H. Dhami said
that the team which examined the patients was
led by Dr. Baljeet Singh, Chief Medical Officer
of the Desh Bhagat Hospital. He disclosed that
most of the patients examined by the team were
suffering from Heart Diseases, Hypertension,
Gastrointestinal Disorders, Low Eye Vision and
Anemia etc. Laboratory and Radiological tests
were done on discounted rates and Medicines
were provided free of cost. Some tests were also
done free of cost. The medical team advised the
people about proper eating habits, avoid going
outside in cold weather without covering head
and face, avoid eating unhealthy food and wash
eyes with normal water and also use sunglasses
when needed.

Desh Bhagat Hospital organized a mega medical check-up camp. Desh Bhagat University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh appreciated the doctors
for their services and appealed to the people to get maximum advantage from the services being provided by Desh Bhagat Hospital. Dr. Jyoti
H. Dhami said that the aim of this camp was to create health awareness among the people and provide them necessary medical assistance.
Patients were highly pleased and contented with the treatment and facilities provided by Desh Bhagat Hospital during the medical camp.
RMO Dr. Gulzar Singh and Dr. Gulshan Rai, MD medicine were also present on this occasion. Patients were examined by Dr. Jaswant singh
eye surgeon DBU. Free consultation and eye checkup services were provided and 50 patients were planned for free cataract surgeries. Local
area patients are thankful to Desh Bhagat hospital for such as great efforts. Desh Bhagat Hospital is serving consistently to the community
since the last 20 years with an aim to provide best health services.
550th Praksh Utsav “GURU NANAK DEV JI” 10 November, 2019
In connection with the 550-year-old
Prakash Utsav of Shri Guru Nanak Dev,
a special seminar was organized by Desh
Bhagat University
University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh
said that we all have to keep humanity
strong while learning from the teachings
of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He said that
we should take care of the smallest
aspects of nature, following Baba
Nanak's path.Speaking during this
seminar; Dr. Bheeminder Singh said that
today we as educators should also accept
the teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji
so that we can make maximum
contribution to the betterment of society.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shyam
Sundar Dipti said that Baba Nanak
created dialogue during various illnesses
of society and then with his conscience
put the humanitarian lifestyle in front of
the people. Dr. Dipti said that through
this book an attempt has been made to spread Guru Nanak's teachings to the
people. Pro Chancellor Dr.Tajinder kaur,
Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh,
Hod’s and staff members of various
departments was also present at the
program.
A series of programmes, related to 550
years Prakash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev,
were organised at Desh Bhagat
University.
A total of 550 saplings were planted by
the university on the occasion. Speakers
from various departments of the
university presented their views. They
also shed light on the lives of Bibi
Nanki, Bibi Bhavi, Bibi Amro and Mata
Gujri and their sacrifices.
A blood donation & Free Medical camp
dedicated to the 550th Prakash Purb was
also organized by the Ayurveda Hospital
of the university, in collaboration with
Lions Club, Mandi Gobindgarh. During
the camp, 30 units of blood were
collected and examined 423 patients in
medical camp.
Drug awareness program 9 Dec2019
Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Sports
Cultural Club Kapoorgarh organized an
awareness program against drugs in
collaboration with Desh Bhagat University.
Amrit Kaur Gill, Deputy Commissioner of
Fatehgarh Sahib, was the chief guest of this
program. Drug awareness program held
under the guidance of University
Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh. Deputy
Commissioner Amrit Kaur Gill said that we
have to mobilize against
drugs to create a better society and told to
the youth about to maintain good
relation between education as well as
sports. Speaking on the occasion,
University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh said
that sports and education help us to
become self-reliant, while the addict is
viewed with disgust and
drugs made addict physically and mentally
weak.

about the adverse effects of drugs. On this
occasion, the President Teerath Singh
Kapoorgarh thanked the guests for their
